I've been bawling like a baby all weekend over Say I Do. Queer Eye normally has me misty-eyed but this is a whole new level. iron maiden might be a good one for you and mum to watch? Mom and I just finished watching the first two. There were lots of tissues. A beautiful, positive show but I cried so much I thought about flying to Australia to kick the crap out of you. LOL

Another really enjoyable season for Umbrella Academy, ensemble really gels together perfectly, Klaus still manages to stand out. Great bait for season 3 at the end, can't wait.
Also, change of plans, should have time, so I'm booting Six Feet Under to the front and watching Ballers if I have time afterward. Start either tonight or tomorrow.

I'm halfway through and kind of stalled, I watched the transformers series instead. I'm cursed by really enjoying half the characters and hoping the rest die. Klaus, Five and Diego are all enjoyable... Everyone else I don't care and the racial aspect I really don't mind, but seems very much like a box ticking exercise and not central to the plot.

Big Pete, you made Wife cry. And not the good kind of tears! We were looking for something to watch yesterday evening to kill some time between chores and dinner. Finally threw on Season 3 Episode 2 of Black Mirror. Apparently it was the end with Cooper crying for mom that broke Wife or at least triggered her hormones. Suddenly got her thinking of that scene with Giovanni Ribisi dying in the field in SPR and every other movie scene she's ever seen where a boy dies crying out to his mom. ANYWAY... I'll have to watch Black Mirror in secret, as she's fully out. But I did dig it. Seemed like a modern spin on Twilight Zone? Pretty decent little self-contained episode there in Playtest. Some fun twists on top of twists. I could see myself getting way into the series. I'll just have to extend my toilet time to squeeze in an episode after PW News.

That was such an intense one to jump into, the episode prior to was a little more forgiving but I was like Wife, that ending got to me. I was like Cooper that entire time, like what could they possibly throw at us? And then it goes down THAT route and it shook me.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was a late comer as well, I had it recommended to me when it originally aired on Channel 4 but I kept it on the backburner for The Wire and Six Feet Under. So I only started watching last year, I haven't seen every episode yet, but here's my personal rankings.
Season 1 Episode 2 Season 2 Episode 4 (White Christmas Special) Season 4 Episode 6 Season 1 Episode 3
Season 2 Episode 2
Most of those are definitely not Wife episodes. There's a few I think that could win her back - Season 3 Episode 4, Season 4 Episode 1, Season 4 Episode 4.
Everybody's tastes are different, so I'd be curious to eventually hear yours.

Yeah that was a heavy episode, I only recommended it to see if there was any comparison between you and Cooper.

A local librarian recommended Umbrella Academy so I watched the first half of season one and was so bored I gave it up.
I just finished a rewatch of Hannibal followed by a rewatch of some New Girl highlight episodes (and season 6/7 as I barely remember them). Not sure what’s next, definitely more in to the light stuff with the worklife driving me crazy.

I didn't realize you were going for overall comparison including looks. Let me ask her real quick.

Either way, a few episodes in on Six Feet Under...the daughter is just the worst.

So...finished Six Feet Under, and while I'm gonna start out by putting it on the list of I'm not sure it's a show I'd sit down and watch again, there's a big caveat for this one, because hoo-boy was the final stretch something. I don't know about sitting down and watching the entire series start to finish, but I might return to just those final few episodes (Ecotone on), simply brilliant. And as a man not easily moved, I love to watch shit like this with my niece just so I can laugh when it breaks her...those final 10 minutes broke me. Haunting, beautiful, perfect. While I can't say the series would make my top 10, the finale absolutely would, 11/10, every kudos I have to give.

I just finished the umbrella academy and the last third was the best and the second third was the worst.

Finally getting around to watching Schitt's Creek. Only 7 episodes in so far but I already love it. It slightly gives me vibes of some other personal favorites like Arrested Development, Parks & Rec, Community, etc etc. from time-to-time. #TeamStevie I just finished the umbrella academy and the last third was the best and the second third was the worst. SPOILERS: I see all this hate for Luther on the internet but everyone somehow feels bad for the girl who literally destroyed the world. Vanya is the least likeable character to me. The actor for Five stole the show again imo; loved the fight scene with his future self. I genuinely enjoyed this season but there was definitely a lot of drag in the middle. Personal highlight though was Vlad creating a cult and preaching 90's pop/R&B lyrics as gospel.

While I can't say the series would make my top 10, the finale absolutely would, 11/10, every kudos I have to give. I need to revisit this series. It's been nearly 10 years and I remember enjoying it well enough but the only family member I found interesting was Nate for the first two series. I found the rest of the cast pretty difficult to watch and only warmed to them in Season 3 where they really began to develop as people. It was that season where everything clicked with me and Nate's storyline in that season really struck a chord with me. I like how for the most part, the other characters become more interesting whereas Nate just seems to stay the course or even go backwards all the way until the end.
From what I understand, fans typically hold a different view with the first two seasons holding up really well while the later seasons get dicey. I'm keen to put the theory to the test, I've just never made the commitment.

I was turned onto it by Wife's hair stylist and quickly grew to FUCKING LOVE IT. Like just a smidge less than just-born son. It's right up there with The Wire as far as infinitely beloved TV shows for me. So good.

Every bit with Johnny and Roland is absolutely golden. Moira and her delusions keep getting funnier, too. I also love the way that Bob runs into every shot with his arms flailing out. So much good shit...

Thinking about 🤯 in his predicament got me to thinking about How I Met Your Mother. Guys, does anyone actually sit their kids down, go into explicit detail about each hook up along the way and only spend 20 minutes on their courtship with their significant other? Was that seriously one of the worst endings of all-time? 7 years on and I still feel jipped.

That's seriously isn't even half of it.
There's another twist and it makes it even worse.
Do tell. {Spoiler} So the mother is dead. After finally meeting in the penultimate episode, the finale touches on all the major events the characters went through before Ted is sitting down telling his kids the story.
We learn that she died of cancer and that Robin/Barney's marriage didn't last. I can't remember what happened to Jason Segal and Willow, they were just kind of there for the second half of the series.
When Ted's done finishing the story, the kids, who haven't aged in like 7 years of this run-time, tell Ted he clearly has the hots for Aunt Robin and this was clearly his way of asking their permission to move on and hook up which they're okay with.
Robin is a spinster living in her apartment with all her dogs and Ted rocks up with a blue trumpet, a nod to their relationship from Season 1.
The mother that was hyped up for 8 years was pretty much passed over just like Leo passed her over in the Wolf of Wall Street.
The sad thing was, she was easily the best character and the show had turned to shit in it's last two seasons. The last season in particular had a gimmick where it all took place over like a day or a weekend or something and it was so slow. So to skip through a million things at the end sucked.

I gave up HIMYM around Season 4 or Season 5 because it stopped being funny and I didn't care about the story. Good to know I didn't miss out on anything. Yeah it got really popular around that time and went very broad with its humor and became pretty cheesy. There are a half dozen episodes from season 5- on that are good, but not a ton. I will say though the mother was terrific and I like that actress in just about everything she’s in.
