Wife and I made a challenge. She has to binge Entourage and I have to binge Desperate Housewives. Not gonna lie, Desperate Housewives is actually legit lmfao. I'm only thru episode 9 or so of season 1 but its bangin. I watch it when I fly for work. I remember when my wife was binging Desperate Housewives. I watched the full first season, but that was as far as I got. I'm not even sure if she finished it or why I stopped, but I did. It wasn't the worst to be honest lol

Wife got Apple TV free for some reason so I’ve caught up on season two of Shrinking. That show is a really enjoyable dramedy. Segel is doing good things, the daughter is good on the show, and Harrison Ford is really funny. I still enjoy this too (as you say Jason Segel is really great in it) but you can really tell that it's from the same people that made Ted Lasso because it suffers from all the annoying things they did on that; like straying too far from the initial premise by expanding too many characters, as well as terrible pacing/editing with no concept of time and things happening off screen.

I’m generally ok with that because I care way less about the initial premise and am mostly there for laughs. There’s a character or two (Brian mostly) that I cannot stand but generally I’m just there for the laughs. However if Louis doesn’t come back this season I say burn it all to the ground.

Watched the Our Town episode of X Files last night. That's the one with the Chaco Chicken cannibal cult. One of my favorite episodes. Neo Zeed you remember this one?

Watched the Our Town episode of X Files last night. That's the one with the Chaco Chicken cannibal cult. One of my favorite episodes. Neo Zeed you remember this one? This episode hit so hard for me when I discovered it like a year or so ago, maybe 2 years ago. I guess it was always one of those that I didn't pay much attention to on my watchthroughs before. That is a big thing I love about X-Files there are so many fucking episodes, like 24-25 per season, 9 seasons and 2 reboot seasons. So running a binge marathon as background noise theres no way you are going to catch everything. But that episode was pretty spectacular to me, the big reason is that the small little town I live in Texas is next to another small little town that has a huge chicken factory, Pilgrims Pride. Its such a big part of the community, where a lot of people around here go to work,. The owner Bo Pilgrim died years ago but from what I heard was super weird dude, has a big mansion in that little town with a big statue of his own head out in the front yard(in a pilgrim outfit). So I found that episode super fucking interesting. Another episode of X-Files I just recently discovered the brilliance of, only really watched it for the first time this year, from like season 7 an episode called Signs and Wonders. Its about a church that dances with snakes, what a fucking deeply creepy and disturbing episode. So very well made like a 45 minute long big budget film, brilliant twist at the end, I'd say it's a top 10 episode of the whole series.

I think the Robert Patrick episodes of the X Files are underrated.

I finished up the first season of The Last of Us after finally getting around to playing the first game. I’m about halfway through the second game and should be done in time for the second season in January.
Other than that I’ve been rotating between Gilmore Girls and Lost on Netflix. Both first time watches for me and I’ve been enjoying them both a lot.

This episode hit so hard for me when I discovered it like a year or so ago, maybe 2 years ago. I guess it was always one of those that I didn't pay much attention to on my watchthroughs before. That one hit right away for me. Remember being hooked on it back in the day as soon as I saw that ax murderer in the tribal mask take a swing before the opening credits. Within 2-3 seconds the other night I was like "YES! The Chicken episode!" Probably a Top 5 episode for me. X Files is great background noise. Had a busy July-November but now I'm back to my usual weekday evening ritual of having the tv on in the background while posting on PW or fiddling around with my phone. Classic Doctor Who at 8, X Files at 9 & 10, and Cheers at 11. And I pay attention when it's a good one. Yeah, it's forever 97-98 here in Bakerland lol. That's crazy because we had a chicken man here in Maryland, too. Frank Perdue was our guy. He was something of a celebrity back in the 80s & 90s. Not sure if national or only regional though. But he was definitely a big deal here. People famously thought he looked like a chicken- "the chicken man who resembled a chicken!" Naturally 90s me, who watched way too much X Files, thought the episode was secretly trying to tell us something about Frank Perdue and his employees lol. Or maybe I got that from my parents? Idk. It was 30 years ago. Anyway, it looks like that episode was loosely based on Tyson Farms which is another big chicken outfit, this one located in Arkansas. I only vaguely remember this one. Didn't the head snake preacher guy have a southern accent? Caught Syzygy a few weeks back. That's the one with a pair of murderous teenage girls and it's probably my favorite episode. Everybody acts out of character because the stars are right. It's hilarious. And this is coming from a guy who typically hates the more comedic episodes.

Mom and I binged watched A Man on The Inside on Netflix. We loved everything about it. Great cast even though it was hard initially to get used to Stephanie Beatriz' character after Brooklyn 99. I think the show meant a lot to my mom who is in this stage of her life. Halfway through The Sticky on Prime. Definitely not as feel good as AMOTI, but still fun. It's very LOOSELY based on the Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist of 2011/12. (I kid you not) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Canadian_Maple_Syrup_Heist

I think the Robert Patrick episodes of the X Files are underrated. I always really wanted to like that period because I love that actor. I think my deal is whenever I do a watchthrough by the time I get to season 7 I'm burned out on it(also hate the direction the main storyline went around that time). So I'm sure there are plenty of hidden gems in those seasons I have yet to appreciate.

Everybody acts out of character because the stars are right. It's hilarious. And this is coming from a guy who typically hates the more comedic episodes. Too fucking rad. Wasn't the story that the guy who ran the plant figured out like the secret to eternal youth through cannibalism? It was something he learned from a tribe where he crashed his plane in a war, they found out the guy was like over 100 years old. That really was a great episode. Also while we are on the subject, I watched the 2008 X-Files movie about a month or so ago. It gets a lot of hate from fans but I never understood why, I fucking loved it and always have. To me it's like a really good MOTW theme episode made into a full movie, which I feel like there should be more of(instead of the terrible reboot they did going back to the main storyline arch, which had gone way the fuck off the rails starting season 7). The whole idea of human head transplants really fucks with me so I thought that was a really cool story. Only gripe is some of the CGI effects are so bad even for 2008, like when the woman falls down the elevator shaft, some good camera editing/cutting and a practical effects dummy would have been a lot better looking than the Nintendo 64 level graphics they went with there. I refuse to believe otherwise. Also there was a bad CGI car wreck in one scene. But still loved it and find it kind of bizarre that they even made an X-Files feature film in 2008(I don't remember hearing anything about it).

Too fucking rad. Wasn't the story that the guy who ran the plant figured out like the secret to eternal youth through cannibalism? It was something he learned from a tribe where he crashed his plane in a war, they found out the guy was like over 100 years old. That really was a great episode. Yep. Or close enough anyway. The head Chicken Man was technically 'only' 93 while looking to be in his 60s or maybe 70s. Another 47 year old woman looked to be in her 20s. That ep also got Kreitzfeld-Jakub (or however you spell it) over with me when I'd occasionally hear it on the news in subsequent years. I looked up that snake church episode you mentioned and it came flooding back to me. Now I remember the neat twist ending. Still didn't think of it as a GREAT episode though. Saw it in the theater when it came out and left disappointed. Honestly don't even remember the story. Just recall thinking it was the equivalent of a mediocre episode stretched out to twice the length and questioning why they even bothered making it. Major disappointment back in the day. Could never get into the Robert Patrick episodes either. The X Files felt like a parody of itself by that point. It's only recently that I was reminded they got a new female lead towards the end as well. I was so checked out by the Patrick era that I literally forgot their Scully replacement existed for over 20 years. Even today I instantly zone out whenever those eps come on lol. Maybe one day...
