I thought gender was masculine or feminine based on sociocultural traits.

That's the way I learned it at least. And thus it always bothered me when both words were used interchangeably.

But maybe I was taught incorrectly regarding the distinction.

That’s correct.

the joys of a living language. They were used interchangeably for a long time. It is in relatively recent history that the two words linguistically have had started to live separate lives. People raised with them used interchangeably or who have an exposure to a large amount of literature of the past will have a harder adapting to the new usages. Some point to feminism changing the language.

Can’t say I’m shocked you’d toss out the generic “some people” blame a movement you disagree with for modifying language you disagree with.

I believe and respect our living language as opposed to language purity that is why I made a positive point of mentioning we have a living language. Also, I am a feminist. But then again your usage of feminist and mine may be different. It is understandable given your posts of late it would not compute for you.  It's ok that some things are beyond what you believe.

This is horrible...

So saw my sister the other day, she looks like she put on 10kg and has a crater face after having clear skin since I saw her last. I know she’s 13 but I wouldn’t be surprised if the hormone blockers have a big part of that. She’s normally incredibly rude but was actually nice when I went over, probably because my gf let her have her old phone for free though.

She’s trying to save $6,000+ for top surgery when she’s 18 by offering to do house work etc for $2 a job (undercutting herself there 😂) until she’s old enough for a job. It’s just weird having a kid mentality like that, with the person of having a double mastectomy.

Her biggest concern with finding a job is that companies aren’t forced to use male pronouns when referring to her. I don’t visit my mum anywhere near as often just so I don’t have to deal with it or hear about it.

I think the biggest problem is my mum is supportive because her parents dissapproved of her dating a woman, and doesn’t want to be the same way even though in my mind they don’t equate. My grandmother didn’t approve because she worked with said woman and said she hated kids and would rip her uterus out if she could..then dates someone with 6 kids, 5 living at home at the time.
My dad doesn’t approve of her being transgender whatsoever, but parents are divorced and apparently you don’t have to go to family court about it anymore anyway.

My oldest-younger sister is also a massive left wing vegan so she just encouraged it for SJW brownie points despite being the most white heteronormative couple with a kid ever.
