Psycho-Pass, one of my favorite anime series, is getting a new movie to celebrate ten years.

I watched Neon Genesis Evangelion Did you just happen to watch or where told it the greatest anime ever? Because I remember how people over hype that anime. Then after the original tv ending was told you have the watch the moves to get the real ending.
I know it is just consider a NGE clone but thought RahXephon did it better.

I watched it because it was on Netflix but this clip of all things (was originally unedited) made me interested in it: I’m sure fans will tell me it’s a case of “you just didn’t get it Man” but I did find it needlessly complicated at times. Not ashamed to say I started watching explained/ending explained straight after watching the series + end of Evangelion.

Eva is basically Kingdom Hearts before Kingdom Hearts. Nobody understands it and anyone claiming they have is a liar and doesn't have enough Pokemon Badges.

I can't stand Evangelion. Too much angst and whining.

The OP is a banger though.
Plus that last episode for Rei and the toast is great. Was Rei the OG Rei or did someone predate her? Certainly it made that waifu mainstream.

I watched the first One Piece episode in a little while. 1004. And I honestly wasn't feeling it. Reaching this far I really can't justify turning back now. I know there's a term for it, but it escapes me. I got so much things to watch that I'm not even sure if I SHOULD make it a priority to watch anymore. But it's the most senior member of the LIST. Doesn't predate it, but it's been the most loyal soldier. It just came at a time when everything was either no sold or wasn't worthy. So it stood out.
Insert Riddler Ending Here

I'm still reading the One Piece manga (I'm wayyyy behind on the anime), but I haven't really been enjoying it very much for a long time now.
I just don't think it's been great post-timeskip. The character designs all look better, but everything is just sooooooo dragged out (even by shonen standards), the 57 new characters introduced every arc mostly suck and there always seems to be some flimsy excuse to split the crew up, Scooby Doo style.
I liked Punk Hazard and Whole Cake Island was alright, but the rest of the stuff after the timeskip has been a chore. Fish-Man Island, Dressrosa and Wano all draaaaaaaaaaagged.
Even anime wise, they spent 42 episodes on Skypiea and it was amazing. They've been clowning around in Wano for over 140 episodes now. Enough already!
Somehow the art in the manga seems to have got worse than it was at the start of the series!

I didn't enjoy Evangelion the first time I saw it either. Then again, I didn't watch every episode religiously, I just caught the odd episode on SBS/Adult Swim. I just remembered the show was like an irritable version of Gundam Wing and every now and then something awesome would happen like an Eva going into Beserk mode. I watched it about five years ago and actually enjoyed it. I won't say I 'got it' and I never got around to watching the movie (I got a hold of another movie which turned out to be a compilation episode) but watching it in full gave me a better understanding of the satire. Every week, they'd just so happen to come across a foe that was impervious to the trick they came up with the week before. The characters would be tested to their mental limits until one day one character just straight up quits going on wacky adventures and has an internal conflict. The show also handled how gross puberty came be and was so unflinching that it captured the feelings of self-loathing in a way few mediums ever do. I just never got the hype around Rei, ever. Except when she trolled Ritsuko Akagi, the blonde scientist woman who had a thing for Shinji's dad. The OP is the GOAT and the credits sequence can't be slept on. I loved how jarring it would be from having one character go through a mental crisis only to cut to a jazzy version of Fly Me To The Moon. I'm pretty sure this was nixed from Netflix? -1 star for that alone. Reading Ness' Riddler break-down makes me glad I got off the One Piece train in early 2008. I cut 4Chan out of my life when I discovered what they did to Yu-Gi-Oh and then my bootleg One Piece subs were so awful it tainted the anime 30 episodes in. The only thing I've had to do with OP since is watching the odd Brook compilation and that character came out 15 years ago...

I'm curious, are there any big anime series you guys have no-sold?
For me, despite eating up every shonen anime, I never got into Naruto. I wouldn't mind going back to it now but for me it was like the Twilight of Ninja related media.

My Hero is probably the biggest one but I never gave it a honest shot. Just seeing the random episode on adult swim. For anime it is usually best to start from the beginning unless it has stand alone episodes.

The Rebuilds? Rebuilds were fantastic - but while pitched as a reboot it ended up being a Groundhog Day sequel to the show.
Never got into DBZ. Tried for an episode here or there, realized that they really do spend the whole episode powering up and said nah, not watching endless hours of this.

Death & Rebirth.
Yeah, I still have to check out the Rebuilds at some point. I've heard mixed things, which seems on par for Eva - you either love it or hate it.
I don't know if I would have got hooked on DBZ if it didn't pull a Yu Yu Hakusho early on.

Try DBZA which is a parody on youtube but it does enough of the story where you would know what is happening. Or as a wrestling fan just watch episode 20.

I second this recommendation: DBZ Abridged is wonderfully worth a watch, even if you're not a fan of the original series. It just helps make you laugh more if you are, but it's not 100% required either. Currently doing a long overdue rewatch of DBZ myself. Just made it past the 5,000+ power level scene. It's awesome getting to see better quality dubs with original scenes that Toonami had to cut out. Roshi grabbing Bulma's ass, King Kai and Bubbles having a pissing contest, etc. Bought DBZ Kakarot today thanks to all this reborn nostalgia.
