So I started a series called Dead Mount Death Play, it's bloody, it's violent and I'm enjoying the hell out of it so far.

These days I rarely watch anything new honestly. Still watching OP in batches and I still have plans for the MHA season that's been out, final season of AOT but I find I don't really deep dive into anime like I used to. No chances on certain series and if I wasn't already invested in a few long running shows I'd mostly be "done" with anime.
Much like wrestling I think it represented a time in my life. Edgy cartoons, ecchi, slice of life. Like I got into anime right as wrestling was cooling down and I got into it HARD for a good decade. Then I started discovering "real" shows and finally expanded my interests beyond cartoons and such. I mean the last "new" thing I watched was the Urusei reboot. I didn't like the original but I liked this rendition. Nostalgia and familiar faces is what I seem to be a fan of more than anime itself.
I do dedicate time to watch anime, but it's less so. I'm watching current stuff and looking back at things I missed so anime just isn't a priority anymore. I still occasionally update the "list" with anichart but a lot of times I end up not watching things or stopping it after 1 episode if I'm not wowed. Too much choice, where in the early 2000s I'd suffer through some real garbage because it's all you had.

I hear ya, Ness. I'm watching Chainsaw Man (well, I started it, but need to finish it), outside of that there is also Dead Mount Death Play, which has been good so far. But yeah mostly it's just been My Hero and Attack on Titan, I've invested way too much time into both of those shows. Also, there is Bleach as well, and I guess Pokemon, however, I watch that dubbed but I'm done when Ash leaves the series. I can't even say the lack of interest is due to having kids, cause honestly I started watching less and less, even before the pandemic. Edit: At this stage in my life, I think watching one, maybe two series at a time, is the best way to go with it, and even then it's probably best to watch when the shows are wrapped up.

Did you ever watch the Inuyasha sequel with the daughters? I actually really enjoyed the initial season. Was hyped for S2 but didn't last but an episode or two before saying no thanks.

Ness, I did indeed give it a watch. Speaking of anime, I watched the first episode of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, honestly between that and the new Bleach series, I feel like I should be twenty years younger, back when things were so much simpler in life AKA being a teenager.

Tapped out on Inuyasha early on when I realized it was going to be a bajillion-episode show like most Rumiko Takahashi properties; are they just doing a gotta-find-the-shards sequel?

Basically just another Boruto, next generation with the same premise: baddie of the week with a looming big bad. Some familiar faces as cameos gets you in the door and that's about it.

I never even bothered with Boruto, I knew that that was going to be a long-running series and I'd never have the time to stick it out. Not like back in the day, when I had more than enough free time to watch the original series, as well as Shippuuden. Ness, Michinokudriver, as far as the big three (Bleach, Naruto, One Piece), how would you rank them?

Yeah I wasn't even following the manga for Naruto at the end, let alone seeing the original anime conclude. I def wasn't gonna watch the sequel lmao.

With Shippuuden, I finished it, about two years after it originally ended.
That's one of the things, I love about My Hero, it's not just one long-running series, the show actually takes breaks, between seasons/story arcs.

Not like back in the day, when I had more than enough free time to watch the original series, as well as Shippuuden. Ness , Michinokudriver , as far as the big three (Bleach, Naruto, One Piece), how would you rank them? The first arc of Naruto, I think, is still particularly strong. A kid who's yelling at the top of his lungs that he exists, that people have value other than their utility to other people, that screw what other people want your destiny to be. It fell off the rails a while after that, but that initial story was something special.
Bleach never really clicked with me. It's definitely a me-thing, but it expanded the universe way too fast and I couldn't really keep track of 13 different divisions, each with its own captain and lieutenant and dedicated function and they all have their own swords with their own abilities and supers and there are Quincys and humans and Hollows and human/Hollow hybrids and Reaper/Hollow hybrids and somewhere in there was a story.
Never tried One Piece. Someone told me it took til like ep 60 to start getting good and I ain't got time for that, sorry.

Ness, I know you don't watch as much anime these days, however, if I'm not mistaken you were into KonoSuba right? Have you checked out the current KonoSuba series that's currently airing?

The spinoff with explosion girl? No I have not, but it is on the list as I remember adding it. That one will def not fall off as I really did enjoy the series as a whole.
I loved Naruto for such a long time. It and Bleach talks were the essential parts of the anime community here on PW. Felt like it's own boom period of anime interest online and IRL. Bleach was always second but I still liked it. Michi is right, especially all those long ass names it was hard to keep track of. SS was such an amazing arc and setup but felt like they booked themselves into a corner with Aizen OP'd so it was a tough act to follow.
OP is top tier, but I don't think it exists for anyone but the base. Nobody getting into it from episode 1 at this point.

So I'm watching some One Piece. Dude it IS what it IS. Anyways the gummy is on and I think this is the first time I've viewed anime like this.
I dunno how this episode's gonna work but it has a weird SOUND in my head to it.
Like borderline "oh this is riiiiiiiiight" and "dude wtf is wrong with you?" vibe.

It’s like DBZ crossed with Looney Toons. The side characters are especially bonkers. All hail Buggy the Clown!

My first thought was Sailor Venus but prob not. It's possible it could just be a generic anime girl. Could also be Darkness from Konosuba.

So uh One Piece Live Action. Strangely seems to be a hit? Also hear it's on some GOT level budget. I haven't because 1. these are usually bad and 2. I'm barely hanging on to the anime itself. A self contained story is aight but obviously there's no way it'll be worthwhile.
For the record I liked Bebop.

I also liked the live Bebop.

I have found myself enjoying some Anime recently, I have watched most of DBZ... Well had it playing while doing other things because there are glaciers that move faster than the plots... The movies are better than the series. Really liked Baki and Kengan Ashura on Netflix.
Not much chance of me descending into it too much because I think the ending of Neon Evangelion is stupid. Apart from that I have watched most of the Gundam. What really comes through is a very deep sense of self loathing in the Japanese psyche.

Evangelion is weird. Started great, but did not stay there IMO. Got bored for the second of he remakes, and really was not hooked enough to justify seeing the older stuff.

I can't stand Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's far too whiny.
