Overlord season 2 has begun. Love it so far.

So I just finished watching the new animated Godzilla movie on Netflix, it was better than I thought it was going to be. As for this anime season, I've still yet to check anything out, just haven't been motivated to do so.

Watched the first episode of Citrus. They kissed more in the OP than they did the whole run of the manga.

Outside of that animated Godzilla movie, I haven't watched anything in months. Actually that's not true, I checked out a series (don't remember the name), and dropped it before the first episode even finished.

This season I tried 3 shows. Citrus and Koi wa (the one about loving the middle aged manager). Both made the cut. Tried the new CCS but I wasn't feeling it. I liked the original a lot so dunno.

Yeah, I've been meaning to try the new CCS anime, since I've been sort of keeping up with the manga. Something does feel a bit off...I don't get the same joy I got from the old series, maybe it's because I'm getting old...:/

To me I guess is that she has all the cards here and I feel that she has nothing to chase. Where as the in the original, it's that thrill to see new cards and acquire them. Haven't seen the new thing myself but reading up on it, not sure if I would like it as much. Still may be good. May be the nostalgia glasses talking tho.

So due to the long weekend out here, I decided to get caught up on/finishing the anime I started last season. First off Dragon Ball Super (dub), I'm officially caught up on this, digging this new Future Trunks story arc so far. Having said that, I didn't really care for the super human water stuff, with purple Vegeta, the Prince of Saiyan's deserves better than that.



I don't care if it was too save his life, the man deserves better treatment than that.

Also completed both Juuni Taisen and Inuyashiki, two very bloody and violent shows, that I enjoyed... with Inuyashiki being the better of the two. At the moment, I'm watching the last few episodes to Ousama Game, then I'll have finished that ss well.

I was super hyped for Godzilla...about halfway through i felt my inner child die. So slow/overly complicated/horrid characters (and not in the good cheesy Godzilla way)and that ending....


DB Super....this maybe my hardest watch in recent years..the first 76(ish) eps were nearly unwatchable, with a few ok to great moments thrown in.

My Hero seems to be the only saving grace for anime in a while...maybe im just getting old and harder to please -_-

I think outside of a token "I'm alive" post most of the core nerds won't be here unless they were still active as the ship went down. Foos is around. He posts in the weekly comic thread.

Still watch OP. The current arc was a chore at times, but like it always does... it gets good. Being caught up sucks so not watching for years is kind of a blessing.

Monkey, your standards for anime are too high. there is so much good stuff out there to be enjoyed.

I watched the FMA live action Netflix movie. never saw the anime. Loved the movie

I haven't seen the live action Fullmetal Alchemist movie yet, though I'm hoping to do so sometime this week.

May have to check it out. Normally anything live action I run away from, but fuck it.

Pretty much agreed with Monkey, I didn't even finish it, that's how bored I was, by the live action Fullmetal Alchemist movie.

Well, I'll take your guys' word for it. Maybe anime in general just doesn't work in real life.

Live action animes aren't generally very good, but I watch them anyway because they are interesting and also usually so bad that it is funny.

My favorite is probably the Lupin the 3rd live action.

By the way, has anyone else watched this yet?



I just saw it at the theater last Saturday. It's only playing one more time in the states at 7 PM tonight (at least on the west coast). It's made up of former Ghibli film production staff that made their own company after Ghibli announced they were halting the production of new movies. I thought it was fantastic. As good as any Ghibli movie and better than some. It is the director of The Secret World of Arrietty / When Marnie Was There and the lead animator from Howl’s Moving Castle.

Lionheart, not heard of it but it looks good. I'll have to check it out soon.

I'll be honest, I kinda want an episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians, focused solely on Kimmy K and anime.

Although it still doesn't quite match Roseanne watching a Kenny Omega match.

She dyed her hair a color, looking like a certain female character from Naruto (said she got the inspiration from it) Plus, there was a pix of her browsing a manga shop, while in Japan (which neither of us can say, so she has us beat there).

Man, fuck the Kardashians.

Watched Death Note, no surprise why people were upset at that movie, they changed Light from being the sociopathic villain of the story to a twerpy little pissant in an attempt to make him a sympathetic hero. Having to condense 18 hours into under 2 is bad enough, but they should have just made up all new names for everything, and treated it like a different occasion of someone finding the Death Note. Made the Last Airbender look entirely faithful, though Dafoe's Ryuk was still great. Show, no surprise, was much MUCH better, so many twists and turns and characters seemingly set up for major roles just to get noted. Masterful all the way down to the ending.

Also, major points for having the most dramatic usage of a potato chip in film history.
