Tom Brady before Rodgers? UT gonna be mad about that one. But I agree with that assessment until Brady or Rodgers prove me wrong. Bottom is if I absolutely have to win one game I still take Brady over Rodgers. That makes the difference for me. I still have Brees above Wilson and Deshaun is definitely ranked a bit too high. But the most egregious ranking is Luck at #8. He's coming off a huge injury and even before that was stinking up the field his past few seasons. At this point in his career he is no longer a young prospect, we need to see results. Luck is hands down the most overrated QB in football and having him in the top 10 is laughable in my book. Also Joe Flacco at 27 below guys like Tyrod and a rookie like Baker Mayfield who hasn't even played a single down? Flacco may have been disappointing given his contract but no way is he one of the bottom 6 starting QB's in the league. Blake Bortles at #30? ?? I know he digressed last season but c'mon Christ you need to atop drinking before making these list.

We didn't get a chance to see what he was capable of last year and while his pre-season form has been concerning, I presume HR and UT have afforded him the benefit of the doubt. Personally when I'm ranking players like that who have missed a year, I typically play it safe and place them halfway on the list, so he'd be a #15 pick for me.

I know he digressed last season but c'mon Christ you need to atop drinking before making these list. Luck show's results when he is on the field , he isn't great and might be a tad overrated but there gets to a point where there is a hodgepodge of quarterbacks and you either bet on mediocrity or upside and I'll always choose upside. It's the same reason Watson seems a bit high but again - upside. If he crashes in his sophomore year or Luck doesn't return from the injury the same quarterback than so be it. Although it's fucking hilarious how you denegrate Luck and then defend Flacco in the next paragraph? We may or may not drink before making the lists but you clearly drink during ever football game you've ever seen if you think Flacco hasn't been that bad. He ranked 27th or worse in seven major statistical passing categories. The fans hate him , Jalen Ramsey said it , and Baltimore implied it by trading back into the first to take a quarterback. Tyrod is HANDS DOWN a better quarterback than Flacco and I'll also take the upside of Baker over the shit show that Flacco brings to the field. Also to bring the point home even further , he wouldn't have been on the list at all if he were solely up to me. I didn't rank him at all so HR deserves credit for him even being at 27. Bortles might be a little low and that's a little my fault. Not egregiously though - I've always defending him but he's still a pretty trash quarterback for the most part. The playoff games were great but that was also a pretty great gameplan and in the New England game when they started taking away that shit - Bortles struggled.

I think it's a weird spot because I think the three guys behind him have a better case than the three guys ahead of him for being higher. Eli Manning is trash but is definitely in the right spot. Brees and Wilson are close for me , I just think that Wilson is going to be asked to do more this season on that terrible Seahawks team and is going to put up a career year while Brees is still getting older and has arguably the best backfield in football to rely on. It's splitting hairs really but Wilson is capable of having an MVP type year this season and Brees I don't see doing that.

I like the top 4 and I like them in that order. Wilson to me is an absolute star, can make just about any play in the book.
Rivers is too low IMHO and yes dare I say it, Watson is too high. 7 games isn't enough plus he still has critics of his mechanics which won't go away until he has a steady spell.
Good list but I feel like it's a more accurate list if it answers the question 'top 32 quarterbacks at the end of the season' rather than right now. A lot of inexperience on the list.

Rivers is the most overrated quarterback of the last 5 years.
And I always base my list on if we were playing just the 2018 , what quarterbacks would I want on my team first.

When Tyrod can actually win a playoff game come back to me. Till then I'll still take both Flacco and Bortles ahead of him.
Plus Tyrod is a CLEVELAND BROWN now. The franchise where QB's go to die. Sorry but his prospects aren't looking any better.

I used to be a big Rivers supporter but I can't disagree. it's between him and Luck for me.
Also I hate to say it because I love to watch him play, but Wilson is going to get crushed this year. The O-line still stinks (when will Seattle take the hint?) and the Legion of Boom is no more, which leaves big question marks for the defense.

I think it's always difficult to weigh up past success against potential with these lists. In the years that we've been doing it I've never put rookies on my list because I think you need to have at least some sort of NFL play before you can judge. But even then guys like Watson and Garoppolo make things difficult because based on what they've shown they are top 10 talents, but it's such a small sample size, and we've seen plenty of guys have a hot start and then come right back down to earth. On my list I had them right next to each other at 13 and 14 because I believe there are currently 12 other quarterbacks that fulfil both the criteria of a sustained level of success with good performance last season.

I don't think KC will be as good this season, they have some major defensive problems and it's almost inevitable that Mahomes will have some growing pains - but I think they'll definitely be a lot of fun to watch on offence.

The Browns might win that division this season. No lie. If they finish ahead of Pittsburgh I don’t even know what I’d do. I can’t see it. Cincy will probably suck this year. Baltimore will probably drop some winnable games. But Cleveland is still Cleveland. They’ve added some offensive tools but Tyrod Taylor is still a panic machine that can’t get points from the red zone to save his life.

But Mahomes with the fastest guy in the league promises some highlights (like Hill beating three defenders on that play)

Nfl should just do a spring league with all 32 teams having a developmental team in it to work the rookies and young guys fighting for a roster spot.

It has value , careers can be made and broken in the preseason. It matters for the bottom of the roster and while Shins idea would be a shit ton of fun for football fans - it's not really plausible. Not for the NFL.

They’re going to eventually cut it to 3 games, I believe. After hearing Gurley gush about how it’s everyones dream to not play in the preseason, it makes sense. Nobody wants to lose everything they’ve worked for their whole life in the preseason. Look at guys like Charles Sims, Derrius Guice and Deon Cain. All will miss the season and for Sims, it could end his career as his value isn’t too high. I’m not a fan of it and it’s boring as shit. Not to mention, Dede Westbrook was the MVP of last years preseason and a dud in the regular season.

Watson is way too high for just a glimpse. Nick Foles threw 7 TDs in a game and 2 interceptions in limited time on the field. Austin Davis looked like a stud for awhile.
Watson may have Top-10 talent, but the stat no one seems to remember is an insane interception rate to go with it, meaning he made plenty of mistakes too. Huge upside, not the ninth-best QB in the league.
Jimmy G is probably about right, though. Limited exposure to the team, and then turning around the shit-show that was the 49ers? Incredible.
Luck is way too high after missing two years. Brees is my easy No. 3. Cam is a top-20, maybe. Mariota belongs around 26.
The “too low” candidates for me were Cousins, Bortles, and the not on the list Bradford (two Iggles, Jets and Browns QBs though?).
Cool list/idea. Sorry I never paid attention in the past.

I’m sorry if I missed the part where your list was based on value vs. salary. I thought it was just a ranking of the Top-32 QBs. Now ... let’s say you want to ask a question without being a dick. Something to the effect of “Do you think Bradford is a Top-32 Quarterback?” My answer is yes.

Good lord , don't be such a sensitive little bitch. I can exaggerate the idea that no one besides you and one person on the Cardinals still think Bradford is any good. He's trash , he's pretty much always been trash and I wouldn't put him anywhere near my Top 32. Hell he's probably not the best quarterback on his own roster and if he weren't getting paid 4x value we'd probably see proof of that Week 1.

You can be a dick too (check and check). Just not needed - especially when they’re in the absence of making a point (something you struggle with a lot in the midst of your “biting” sarcasm). Anyways ... at the bare minimum, he’s better than Mitch and McCown. He’s played well when he’s been healthy. He’s not a star, and he’s not worth $20MM. But there aren’t 32 better QBs in the league.
