It's crunch time for the teams looking to sneak into a wild card spot. A loss from here on out will make or break quite a few teams.
Buffalo and Miami play this Sunday and it's an important game for both teams. A win for Buffalo keeps them clinging to the hunt despite being an early write-off, and Miami is sniffing at Baltimore's heels (who could pull away with a win over Atlanta this week) and can't afford a loss. These teams play again before the season is over and Buffalo has an easier schedule (despite facing the Pats one more time) to finish out the year.
The Jaguars and Colts find themselves in a similar game, where the Colts can't afford a loss and the Jags could play spoiler.
The Broncos and Bengals both sit at 5-6 in the middle of the hunt and face one another this week.
On the other side you've got the Seahawks trying to claw into a Wild Card spot and could do it this week with a win over San Fran. The west coast rivalry always makes for a good game and the Seahawks can't afford to be upset here.
The Packers need to win and face an easy team in Arizona, and with the Eagles facing a tough team in Washington this week the Packers really need that W to stay alive.
No real runaways in the Wild Card games yet this year, and with some key wins this week and next we could be seeing some surprises going into December.

I guess mathematically a lot of these teams are still alive but I'm looking forward to the nails being put in a lot of coffins this week. I think the Bills, Dolphins, Bengals or Packers are all out of the mix already.

I think the Bills, Dolphins, Bengals or Packers are all out of the mix already. In the AFC the Dolphins are the only ones with a shot but the Ravens have an easy out this season. They play the Falcons (struggling hard), the Bucs and Browns (garbage) and the Chargers (good but totally beatable). The only team they are almost guaranteed a loss against are the Chiefs. Even if Miami win out they’re going to have a hard time catching Baltimore. Buffalo’s only shot is to win out and that probably won’t happen considering they play New England and are also mostly garbage.

The Browns are a better team than the Dolphins! I think they just have slightly too tough a schedule to be able to win out but think they would definitely have made it if they had got rid of Hue earlier.
I'm gonna guess that the Colts pip the Ravens to the #6 spot.

The Ravens lost to a Hue Jackson-led Browns team. I think they're overrated. I know have defense to make life difficult but offensively I don't see them being good enough, even if I am reasonably impressed with Lamar Jackson at quarterback.
I agree with HR too, I think we'll hear the death knell for a lot of these teams this weekend.

I appreciate the Bills fans hope but it’s not happening.
In my opinion, there’s really only 3 teams in the AFC that can snatch the final wildcard spot and it’s the Ravens, Colts and Broncos.
It’s crazy to think about some what ifs. So here’s a few.
Had the Titans converted the two point try and beat the Chargers in London and had Indy punted in OT against Houston instead of giving them a short field and that game ended in a tie, we could be looking at these standings in the AFC South.
1- Texans- 7-3-1 2- Colts- 6-4-1 3- Titans- 6-5
Factor in the Wildcard loss for the Chargers:
5- Chargers- 7-4 6- Colts- 6-4-1 7- Ravens- 6-5 8- Titans- 6-5 9/10/11- Dolphins/Bengals/Broncos- 5-6
All of a sudden, you’re looking at 2 games seperatint seeds 5-11. You also get the Colts leading for the 6 seed and only 1/2 game back of the 5. Now you’re banking on Lamar being the savior even harder. As a Chargers fan, you’re hoping they don’t choke away like usual. The Colts can easily win the division as they’re only a game back. The Titans can sneak in as well and it’s thanks to the gutsy play cal by Vrabel and good thing he had Derrick Henry run it in. Tannehill looks to lead a huge comeback in his Version 2.0 status. Driskel plays to be the future of Cincy. Keenum looks for a Mile High miracle!
Granted, seeds 9-11 can still do these things but it changes the fortunes for the Chargers, Colts, Texans and Titans for better or for worse.
ANYWAYS, tonight’s Cowboys and Saints game should be fun. I don’t know why, but this game has upset written all over it. A Dallas loss and a Philly win this MNF changes everything in the NFC East and all of a sudden, the Eagles are back in it. I don’t think this one will be as high scoring with both teams putting up 40s, but Drew Brees has been a beast in primetime this year. We get Zeke vs Kamara. We get Amari Cooper plying footbal on his favorite day of the week, a Thursday. Pull up this dudes stats for Thursday Night games and they’re incredible. He’s averaging nearly 10 catches, 180 yards and 2 TDS on Thursdays. Even if it’s a small sample. This dude lights it up on Thursday’s. This may also be the best defense Brees has faced this season.
I’m going to go ahead and say that this game is a lot closer then we think. I almost want to say there’s an upset brewing, but I think Nawlins wins it on a GW FG as time expires. Saints win 30-27.

Also, let’s talk the GOTW.
Sunday night football!
In what could easily be a first round playoff match up, the Chargers and the Steelers square off. I feel like I haven’t seen these two teams ever face before. I’m sure I obviously have, but this is going to be a blast. The Chargers will be without Melvin Gordon, but Pitt plays the worlds smallest violin to that. It’ll be James Conner vs Austin Ekeler. Antonio Brown vs Keenan Allen. The biggest showdown being Big Ben vs Philip Rivers in the battle of draft class!
This one should be tons of fun. Rivers opened up last weeks game completing 25 straight passes which tied Tannehills record for most completed passes in a row, but BROKE the record for most completed passes in a row to start a game. Rivers is playing like an MVP this season, but he’s still behind Brees, Mahomes and Gurley IMO.
This game will be fun and it’ll be under the bright lights of Sunday Night and Hanukkah menorahs. I think the Steelers find a way to pull this one off in a thriller! All the stars will shine in this one. Steelers win 38-34.
Also; Big Ben is 4-2 against Philip Rivers. One of those wins being in the playoffs.

I'm picking the Chargers to win and for Ben to throw yet more teammates under the bus. Seriously Ben needs to shut the fuck up. That was one of the worst red zone throws I've seen all year, Stevie Wonder could have picked that off and he has the nerve to blame AB for a bad route run? AB is a top 2 receiver and Ben is an above average QB at best. Stay in your damn lane.

They should’ve ran it with Conner again. Goal line offenses are driving me crazy lately.

Beating the Seahawks hurting their chance making the wildcard will made my day just like beating the Las Vegas Hookers few weeks ago but better

Couple of nice throws by Dak on the opening drive but field goals aren't going to be enough to keep up with the Saints, got to get TDs when you get in the red zone.

Dallas defence is on fire early on - Morestead has already punted more tonight in the first 20 minutes than his per game average for the season.

Amari fumbling the ball just gave the momentum back to Nawlins. Crazy.

This Mike Perrera announcer is worse then Wittenbtonught.
“Maybe Jason Garrett will challenge this play!”
- Michael Thomas recovered.
“If he loses this challenge, he’ll be out of challenges and out of timeouts for the first half.”
- Saints have 2 timeouts.
Even his partner sighed.

If the Cowboys could have written the perfect script for how that first half would go - that would have been exactly it.
0 points and just 59 yards for the Saints offence, Dallas with 22 minutes of possession.

It’s just a shame they only mustered up 13 points, though. I believe that the Saints are going to come out angry and score on their digest drive. I’ll tel you what though. If the Cowboys can hold the Saints without a score on the first drive of the 2nd half, then this games over. The momentum would be too much to overcome.

Penalties are costing the Cowboys here in the second half, they don't have the ability to overcome being forced into second/third and long.

Huge third down conversion by Dak with his legs - two Saints defenders really should have tackled him down.
Ouch, and then he overthrows a wide open TD on the next play.

Couple of big calls going against the Saints here, a clear helmet to helmet on Kamara and now a horrible spot on Beasley which they gave a first down to when he was clearly shot.
Fairly ridiculous that Payton lost his challenges even though he was successful with his second, but that was probably a bad choice to challenge over a few yards in the first half.

Very surprised to see Brees throw that interception after the Dak turnover. He hasn't had a good game at all, really struggling under the the onslaught of the Cowboy's pass rush. Big dent in his MVP candidacy tonight.
The argument all season has been that defence orientated & run first teams can't compete with some of these passing offences - but we've seen that they can win from time to time here. Whether or not this formula works in the playoffs and/or on the road we'll have to wait and see.

Is it good news or bad news that this run to the playoffs may, in fact, save Jason Garrets job as the Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys?

Jason Garrett is not head coaching material and he never will be. Only reason he still has a job is no coach worth their salt is willing to put up with Jerry's bullshit.

Well Kareem Hunt beat a woman. And now he’s sent home from the Chiefs facility. I know I’m the Chiefs homer in the room, but man does TMZ try to stretch that video way past what it was. He shoved a guy into a woman and he pushed her with his foot and they called it a beating on par with the Ray Rice video. Seems probable that Hunt is an asshole and should be disciplined though.

And there’s nothing leading up to it. She could have hit him first. And all the “men should never hit women,” people can fuck off. I was physically assaulted in a previous relationship and had to defend myself and was fortunate that the police weren’t involved. Hunt went beyond with that kick but it wasn’t anything like we’ve seen in the past. He deserves to be disciplined but the fact no charges were pressed at the time means he probably won’t get much.

He’s now on the commissioners exempt list and is most likely done for the season.
Sure enough, Spencer Ware (the new starter) is scooped up everywhere in fantasy before I could get to them.
