I just read into it and some are saying a deal is unlikely. Diana Russini says that sources are telling her that the Packers are aggressively trying to get AB. Then I read that the Raiders were the ones to get him.
Needless to say, this should be an interesting day in the Antonio Brown sweepstakes.

The Buffalo Bills just publically announced that they are OUT of the Antonio Brown sweepstakes, stating it doesn’t make sense for either side.
So there goes that. I’m guessing it’ll be the Raiders at the end, but GB is the dark horse. I think we’ll find out today.

Apparently, the Bills trade fell apart because Buffalo realized Antonio Brown had zero interest in playing there. Really crazy that they still have a franchise in Buffalo, albeit crazy fans, nobody wants to play in the "Siberia of the NFL".
Also, announced; the Packers AND Redskins are now OUT of the running for Antonio Brown.
It's looking more and more likely like Antonio Brown will be an Oakland/Vegas Raider.

Crazy drama. I wonder what knocked the Packers out of the running - probably the reluctance to give up the #30 pick. Unless Brown doesn't want to play here either in which case ... have fun in Oakland.
Brown really is coming out of this looking like a headcase. It could easily end up tainting a great career.

Yeah, I mean it all depends on how he does on his new team. If he keeps at his career averages and keeps being top 3 WR, then nobody will remember this. Many superstars had nasty break ups. I'm sure OBJ's breakup with the G-Men will be worse when it eventually happens. Speaking of the Giants, they just traded Olivier Vernon and a 4th round pick to the Cleveland Browns for T Kevin Zeitler and a 5th round pick. I think it's a really good trade for both. The Giants need to keep working on that O-Line and the Browns are just getting their defense together after releasing their leading tackler Collins the other day.

Browns and Giants swapping Kevin Zeitler for Oliver Vernon. Really like that for NYG and it's decent enough for Browns too given Zeitler came pre-Dorsey. I don't know how the hell Vernon became a pro bowler last year after such a disastrous, injury plagued first half, guy feasted when JPP was in town year 1. Maybe with Garrett he can get some pressure since I don't think he is a go to pass rusher in this league. Zeitler was phenomenal with Cincy, don't know if he kept it up with Cleveland but you have him as the RG since Undertaker Hernandez is at LG and that OLine is better if Solder rebounds.
Giants have to draft defense, defense, defense. Makes me wonder if they get best defender available regardless if Haskins is there. No Landon Collins now no more Vernon. Almost no one can playmake on their defense besides maybe Ogletree.

Still shocked that the Giants didn't keep Landon Collins. That dude was the leader of that D, but I guess with the dysfunction, he wasn't the best leader. Also UT, here is the report on the Packers with the first part being weird considering everyone else was kind of reporting them in on the AB noise. "Demovsky notes the Packers never had any conversations with the Steelers, safely eliminating them from the list of franchises still jockeying for Brown's services. With the Bills officially out, we honestly don't even know who is in the mix for Brown. Teams may be waiting for the Steelers' price to drop, knowing Pittsburgh is backed into a corner here. The Packers could then re-enter the conversation."

He was a really good player just it's a deep safety class and FA pool so they didn't want to be straddled on big bucks to him. Think he's going to Colts, they have the money and he's a nice fit next to Free Safety Malik Hooker.

Collins to Indy would instantly make them my favorites in the AFC South; possibly AFC. As crazy as that sounds. Indy is going places and if they land Collins and/or Bell, forget it.

Michael Bennett getting traded to the Pats. An unlikable jerk going to an unlikable team, what a perfect fit.

I like the Zeitler trade a lot. Think we're more likely to be able to find a pass rusher in the draft that can contribute than a starting guard - but we are worryingly thin on defence now.
There are still some big question marks over Gettleman's decisions but you can't deny he's done a good job overhauling the offensive line. In a year we've gone from complete trash to having four solid starters.

Welp, now Brown gets his chance to prove his cred without a HoF QB, going to the Raiders.

Craziest thing is the Raiders got AB for a 3rd and 5th rounder. So not only do they got AB, but they still have their 3 first round picks.

Can’t believe that’s all the compensation was. Now I’m a little annoyed the Packers weren’t involved more.

Not sure how that happened to be honest. All talks were the Steelers we’re looking for a first. The fact they couldn’t even get a second blows my mind.

Yeah and when it was a 1st (plus possibly more) I was out but a 3rd and a 5th seems like a steal. I guess the Steelers just waited too long and knew they got to the point where teams knew that had little leverage.
I imagine money was a big part of it , but the Raiders are still quite dumb if they pay Brown anywhere close the the contract they didn't want to pay Mack. I mean that was the reason he was traded - so why turn around and give even close to that money to a 30 year old malcontent.

Brown is not going to get anywhere near Mack money. Ace pass rusher trumps ace wide receiver in terms of market value all day.

He's getting an average of 18 million per year in his new deal compared to Macks 23 per year? Roughly. They also gave in to guarantees bringing him from 0 in gaurantees left to 30 million.
So that's close enough for me when you consider the fact that Mack is young and has a decade left of being an elite defender in him compared to Brown probably having three - five years of eliteness in him.
Call me crazy but I'd rather spend the 5 extra million per year and have Mack. As you said , pass rushers are far more of a premium , especially so when you consider the age game.

Speaking of Oakland..... They are sending Osmele to the Jets along with Chi 6th for the Jets 5th round pick.
He was crap last year but that team bombed altogether last year and had awful QB play led by Carr. Raiders clear some cap room post Brown deal and Jets get the Carpenter replacement over at LG since the guard market is mediocre in free agency besides Saffold.
I like it for the minor drop off in the draft. Hoping he rebounds.

Brown is in a position to make more of an impact than Mack could though, simply because the Raiders had absolutely NOTHING ELSE on defense. They were going to suck on D whether they had Mack or not simply because he would have been their only defender. The Raiders had way too many parts missing on the defense for Mack to truly show his full potential.

Yeah but he was the piece you build around , next to Donald and maybe Miller he would be the most coveted defensive player in the NFL that you could build around. Just because the Raiders defense sucks now doesn't mean that Mack couldn't be the centerpiece going forward and obviously make everyone else better. I know he hadn't proven it to that point but it doesn't make sense.
You aren't going to build an entire offense around Brown and by the time you are in position to he's probably going to be done with as a player.

And in other news the Chiefs just cut Justin Houston.
He's only 30 years old, I can easily see a Super Bowl contender signing him for a one year rental.

Really hoping the Packers look at him. Perfect fit for us really. At least allow us to not have to rely completely on rookies and Kyler Fackrell.
I'd almost prefer that to trading for Dee Ford.
