OK, so per coaxing in that other thread, I'm fucking doing it. This is open and free to use for all who need that accountability check that only others can provide as far as starting up, staying on track, and hopefully reaching your fitness goals. Whether it's dieting, working out, both, et cetera, or whatever... Let's all help each other be better or at least work toward being better versions of ourselves. Real quick, for me... I wrestled for years from middle school through the end of high school. Was a skinny but relatively shredded little fiend. Stopped athletics when I got to college, and stopped working out as well. Thank god for being a young male, full of testosterone and a high metabolism... I didn't lose much, and got to rest on my laurels. Started losing it a bit when I entered the working world. Didn't notice at first because I was working in the mines, which involved a lot of stress (mentally, emotionally, and physically) and little time to eat. So stayed relatively lean, but probably had lost muscle mass/strength. For sure cardio was a shit show by that point. Got it in my head that I didn't want to be in the mines anymore, and considered military/firefighter/police. Used those aspirations as motivations to get back in shape. Crushed the physical exams. Ultimately even got offers for a fire department in the DC area and Pittsburgh police. Should've taken them. Passed on both. Oh well... what could've been. Parlayed my fitness into crushing a Tough Mudder in 2013 after being peer pressured by a buddy. That was fun. Loved the physical torture aspect of the event itself. The prep was boring, but I appreciated the consistency and discipline. Drifted into office work. Soul-sucking corporate bullshit. Over-ordered on girl scout cookies on fall/winter, and somehow gained 40 lbs. between Halloween and New Year's. Primary care physican was concerned. Decided I'd start going to the gym again, turn that blubber into dirty bulk mass! Ended up switching jobs to go to work for the competitor. Made a friend. He lifted too. We made a habit of hitting the gym regularly. I put on good size. Strength improved to highest heights in my life. Life was good. But then he left the company. We stayed friends, but schedule with his new company meant we couldn't really work out together anymore. Losing that workout buddy was the first wound. Eventually some life events would really derail my motivation. I think I was at 1.5 years of not exercising when I decided to invest in building a squat rack cage in my basement. Fuck going to gyms ever again. People suck. Ended up barely using it before we moved to Massachusetts. Now I'm at 2+ years or so of not exercising. I'm built like a big ol' vanilla pudding cup. Hate it. Muscle mass has decreased. Wife comments on my rolls and smaller shoulders. She misses the days of big shoulders and chest (even though it made her neck hurt to cuddle in bed) and especially the good ol' days when the 🤯 she first met had what the gays apparently call "cum gutters" lining my lower abdomen. Where I'm at now... Massachusetts with no gym membership. Gym memberships are expensive, and the apartment we're renting is limited on space. So it's doubtful I'll recreate my own private squat rack situation in the basement/garage. Do I bite the bullet and just go in on a new gym membership? Do I check out the free fitness center at the office? Do I just find some good body weight exercises to do at home just to get a foundation reestablished for now? What are my goals? Get big and burn fat. The added challenge? The soul of an old Italian grandmother inhabits Wife, who takes it as a deep personal insult if I don't eat until I'm beyond stuffed. I might as well be killing her favorite cat when I skip meals altogether. It doesn't help that she always weighs in at 107.6 lbs and can eat whatever she wants. ANYWAY... This isn't supposed to be about me per se. It's about any of us. All of us. Let's get this shit on track, and help each other out. I have no idea where to start. So if anyone can help with that, it'd be appreciated!

I've been running ultramarathons for nine years now, and the last few years I've lost motivation. When I started running the underlying reason was use the running/racing as a way to change my addictive lifestyle. I had specific goals ,and I achieved them. Also, the drugs is no longer an issue. I've never been a very competitive person, so once I achieved all my goals I started to slack off on my training, and the reality has become that the few races I do aren't als enjoyable because I'm not as well trained.
So I've signed up for a few races for 2019 to use as goals, and the hope is to succeed in an athletic way. I ran yesterday for the first time in two months. For now for at least a month I hope to run every day after work, which may mean as little as 5 km as I do shift work and dont have much work day time, and 10 minutes of weights in the morning before work, and longer runs on sets off. Do that for a month and see from there.

My resolution was to maintain my commitment to the gym and conduct 150 workouts this year (roughly 3/week).
I'm using an app called "Tally" to track that and a few other goals this year. Worth checking out if you want a way to keep up on your goals.

Brilliant idea. I’m currently at 91kg, was down to 85kg mid last year. Want to get back down to it. Good idea for a starting point. I should baseline where I'm at now, at least in so far as my weight and measurements. Anyone know of a relatively easy/cheap but still somewhat accurate way of determining body far percentage? I've always been led to believe that BMI is kinda bogus.

This was more or less the experience. The key to having fun and making it a challenge, IMO, is doing it with at least one buddy and having a goal in mind for the course. My buddy was an avid workout fiend and didn't even want to bother doing the Tough Mudder with me unless I could guarantee him I could run 13 consecutive miles at a 9-minute mile pace. I only made that guarantee on a race track, which proved to be an entirely different deal than the real life course. In real life, we ended up finishing in 3 hours. I also managed every obstacle. My buddy failed one. So in the end, I was overall pleased with the event and he wasn't. :lol: The most annoying things were (in order) the groups of basic bitch girls who'd just walk around the obstacles, the long lines at some of the obstacles, the Bros, and losing my toenails from them getting waterlogged and then pounding against stones and the ends of my sneakers over the course of 13 miles. The most challenging parts were definitely the obstacles that required pull-up strength. Even if you can do 10 pull-ups, you're energy is shot toward the end and you're so wet and caked in mud that you'd think you'd hallucinated all your previous pull-up ability. The sadomasochistic monster in me loved the electrocution final obstacle and the pitch black underwater ice bath in a shipping container obstacle the most.

Standing naked in the morning on an empty stomach at 5'10" or 5'11" (depending on who's doing the measuring), I clocked in at 188 lbs. If I was under 10% body fat, I'd be quite alright with that, I'm sure. As it stands, without getting one of those machines KJ recommended, I would guess I'm somewhere between 20%-25% body fat.

Some of the things offered were a free health screening and body fat check using one of those electric devices that look like an old school handheld video game. Back then my reading was 19%, I think. Considering I haven't worked out since then nor fixed my eating and drinking habits, but I've maintained roughly the same overall weight, I'm just assuming the body fat percent had creeped up since then as muscle mass has continued to atrophy away.

My BMI is around 28, when I started my weight loss journey it was 34 You can convert BMI into Body fat % (1.20 x BMI) + (0.23 x Age) - 16.2 = Body Fat Percentage For me it puts be at 26% which I think is pretty fair.

There is a huge differential in the accuracy of a BMI in people who weight train and those who don't.

I don't know whether to blame years of following WWF or what, but I'm sure I've got nutso self standards. The only problem is that those standards haven't motivated me to actual action in 2+ years.

So I had the idea of posting a progress pic each month after said months PPV as I’ll actually remember as opposed to the 1st of each month as I’ll constantly forget. Got in good shape last year, then just got lazy with it and put on all the weight back I had lost in the first place. So this is day 0 and hopefully by next Years Royal Rumble I’ll be in great shape or the thread will hold me accountable Month 0, Royal Rumble 2019 (92KG) A far cry from this pic last year, serves me right for slacking off

Good on you, System. I like the idea of linking status updates to PPVs, especially since this is a pro wrestling forum after all. The first is always moving around and often falling on inconvenient days. I must also applaud your balls for going the pic route. I'm starting to think I need to do something that drastic too to scare myself into gear. Although I'm also debating getting into weed heavily and just saying fuck it full tilt.

System, nice idea. I hope this doesn't sound too rough... I look forward to your belly decreasing in size every ppv. Last set of days off I ran every day, two of these runs were of 15 km, so that was nice. My most recent set at work was nights and I took a 25 pound dumb bell to work and on 3 of 5 night shifts I did 20 minutes of arm/chest work. Twice I did 10 minutes of wind sprints in the lab (totally not safe but no one is around to see me on night shifts). Took my gps watch with me and turns out my random wanderings around the mine yard gives me a few km every day.

So... I haven't been utilizing this thread at all, and meanwhile I feel like my life is falling more and more apart physically/mentally/emotionally. Getting stuck in a funk blows. Especially when there's seemingly no end in sight. Blah...

I just bought 3 Fiji water bottles (because they are 1 litre) and try to drink them all throughout the day.
