So i bought my GF Deracine on VR, the Japanese version.
How do I find out if there’s a language option? From what I’ve seen most Japanese versions of games have enough English to get by. I know a lot you guys buy import games. I don’t have VR to check.
Or just tell me I’m a dumbass for buying the Japanese version and expecting English in the game.
A lot of digging through YouTube and Social Media.
Here's what I found from the YouTube comments section:
So basically...sort of?

Yeah, it's borderline unplayable. So I eventually gave up. What game was it? Nights of Azure 2. Shame as I really liked the first one. I tried to change the controls, but it wasn't going through so I gave up after a little while.
It's a weeaboo Dynasty Warriors (although I guess it already is) so the actual fighting portion isn't bad since you're just spamming Y/X. It's just the menus that suck. Still annoying enough to take the fun away. Looks like I'll be trying Fractured But Whole now.

Deracine works fine, about 99% English except on super important hints which are easily to translate, crisis avoided 😂.
I’d love to play VR games but I get motion sickness incredibly easily so I can only handle a few minutes if that.

Phew, crisis averted!
Merry Christmas all. Did anyone get anything gaming related or looking to take advantage of any boxing day sales?
I was lucky enough to get a new gaming rig from the folks. I told them a few weeks ago I was planning to build my own PC since my old hand-me-down from 8 years ago was beginning to show it's age. My folks knowing me all too well, knew it'd take me forever to organise all the parts so they just bought me one. I feel completely spoiled but I love finally being able to play Overwatch. I've owned the game for two years and it's just teased me as my PC and Laptop were too slow to run it.

Over the weekend, I got Overcooked 2 and My Hero One's Justice. Today was Monster Hunter, Namco Museum, and Nickelodeon Kart Racers. I love this time of year when I get games I'll never finish. I have a lot from last year that I don't even remember playing.
Hi everyone. Merry Christmas.

Gf got me a Nintendo Switch with Diablo 3, Splatoon 2, Octopath Traveller, Super Mario Party & Lego Harry Potter (it came with it) Definitely wasn’t expecting that! Hopefully getting Smash Bros today as well If the shopping centre calms down (apparently the line for JB & EB are out the door 😳).

I've owned the game for two years and it's just teased me as my PC and Laptop were too slow to run it. I guess I should start posting in here now. Got a PS4 finally. After rough start, I think I'm finally truly operational. Hoping Destiny 2 was more of an anomaly as far as putting the disc in and having to wait hours to download an update. Guess we'll find out. Destiny 2 was acquired on the cheap because that's what the Keller boys back in Pittsburgh said they played. Dabbling a bit first on my own was fun enough until I realized I had to play though some bullshit levels just to even access certain main menus. Then playing together became tricky because I think my level was so low, and one of the Keller boys hadn't downloaded the Forsaken expansion? As I said in the Black Friday thread, while impressed with the visuals, I'm not sure I'm into Destiny 2 enough myself to play by myself to level up without the Keller boys. Looking much more forward to popping in COD:WW2, COD:BO4, Battlefield 1, and Battlefield V. I presume those will all be much more to my liking. But that also means they'll all carry a much greater risk of becoming lost time black holes. WWE 2K19 I'm just "meh" on already. I've never been a fan of the wrestling mechanics on games post-No Mercy, so I don't have high hopes. But me having a video game system without a wrestling game felt wrong. I'm most intrigued by/nervous about Red Dead Redemption 2 and Wolfenstein 2. The former because of an anxiety that open worlds give me, and this feeling like I need to explore EVERYTHING based on some weird FOMO. The latter, I'm nervous because I remember the original Wolfenstein on the computer scaring me as a kid just as much if not more than Doom did.

SO I JUST GOT THE NINTENDO SWITCH AND I AM ABOUT TO BUY ME SOME GAMES!
NBA2K is 50% off which is fucking dope.
And of course, SUPER SMASH BROS is going to be mine within the hour.... after dinner! I feel like a kid again. I wasn’t even this excited getting the PS4, but I am so happy to have a gaming system I can travel with. I’m Game Boy Color happy right now.
LETS GOOOOOOO!

Finished Gris. Fantastic work of art, a masterpiece. the game aspect is secondary but still very enjoyable though at times frustrating.
Much more of an experience but definitely recommended if you’re into pretentious art games.
As for Smash Bros
Having a roster of 70+ characters and having 8 fucking characters available to play at the start is one the dumbest things I’ve ever seen in the history of gaming. Sure have 20 or so to unlock but not almost every character. I just want to play with friends, though the core gameplay i think I’ve outgrown also as it’s just boring me.
I don’t think I’ve played it for more than 10 minutes yet without turning it off. Would have returned it but I didn’t buy it from EB.
Where’s a greedy company like EA when you need them? So I can pay some bullshit fee and get it over with.

It's a silly feature, especially when you consider that we know exactly who's in the game, so the element of surprise that the originals had are completely lost. When Smash 64 originally came out, it didn't have the publicity of other AAA titles like Super Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time so it was possible you didn't know every secret. I still remember being at a big N64 party when Ness appeared. None of us knew what Earthbound was and we were all completely gobsmacked at this new character that seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Now I can understand that lack of excitement because we know precisely who is going to be included and to be denied one of the major draw cards of the game is a bitter blow.
It sucks for those who just wanted to jump in. But as a selfish player who really just wanted an improved single player campaign mode, the incentive to play through the World of Light mode just made it that more appetising. I will say at 615 stages, it definitely drags (20+ hours) but as an enjoyable walkthrough video game history I loved it.
But then again, I'm not into modern fighting games. I miss the days of Tekken where you had to unlock the characters. I understand the majority of competitive players want to dive right in, but I always enjoyed the reward of playing through arcade mode and unlocking new characters. In Smash's case, I wish the unlocks had have been creative beyond 'play a shit load of this game' but it's a start.

I love SSB: Ultimate, I had my nephew over the weekend it came out, and the two of us spent that Friday and part of the next day, playing it and unlocking as much characters as possible. I understand not liking the small amount of characters that you start with, but in my case it gave me a chance to explain the characters he wasn't familiar with, and talk about the games in the respective series.
Anyways, 2019 looks like it'll be another good year for the Switch, especially since there are a handful of titles, that I'm interested in. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, the main series Pokemon game that was announced, Luigi's Mansion 3, and Yoshi's Crafted World will all be must buys for me. On top of that, I'll most likely be picking up the new Animal Crossing game, as well as possibly the Phoenix Write trilogy.
I'll probably pass on both Crash Team Racing, Team Sonic Racing though... I doubt they'll be as good as Mario Kart 8, so may as well save some money there.

Found an exploit.
Go to Smash > set it to one stock > suicide instantly > new challenger approaches > win
Reset your game once you get passed the “... has joined the battle” message and on to level select screen (bypasses the 10 minute cooldown)
Tedious but easily the quickest way.

So apparently Yoshi's Crafted World is coming out March 29th, 2019, as opposed to just 2019. Unfortunately I never played Yoshi's Woolly World (hoping it'll get a port in the Switch), but Crafted World looks like a such a fun game.

Drats, RE2 remake comes in, as soon as I start playing, won't stop snapping in and out of aim. Playing Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, I was having the occasional trouble in the deck screen, and thought it might just be a glitch, but this just confirmed it was my L2 button. So, since there seems to be no damage to the controller, I figure the problem right, as there must be something jamming it from the inside. Take it apart, turns out there's this little lip at the top of the button that just sort of collects dirt, and over time enough built up that it was jamming it enough to trigger action. This wouldn't have been all that bad, but the back cover was being a bitch, and I broke the R2 in the process of removing it, so now I have to wait until a replacement R2 comes in to get back to things. If only it had an convenient to remove cover, it would have been an easy fix, can help but think it's to try to bilk money out of the consumer than let them do their own repairs. So, the waiting game begins.

Hard to replace someone like that. Never been a big fan of him but not doubt he's left Nintendo in a better place. Hope he enjoys whatever comes next.

I thought Reggie was a fantastic face for the company, especially during some pretty rough times for the company. What made Reggie stand out is that as professional and corporate as he was, he wasn't above taking the mickey out of himself and his relationship with the community was always strong. I thought he was a great ambassador for the company and while he was one of several faces during some trying years, he usually did a good job of focusing on the positives. For many, the Wii U is seen as this all-time low-point for Nintendo, but I never felt that way because Reggie was always quick to push strong upcoming IP titles like Mario 3D World, Splatoon or Mario Maker.
As a kid, I always thought it'd be Nintendo's darkest day when Bowser took over. Something tells me, that shouldn't be the case.

So Bowser does have a first name, never pictured him as a Doug though.
I finally got around, to picking up the last couple of games (Octopath Traveller, and Splatoon 2), that I've been meaning to get, since getting a Switch last June.
Seriously though I've bought more games in less then a year for the Switch, than I have for my PlayStation 4 in the last three - four years... maybe I have an addiction.

Nintendo of America handles the localization of the games for the west (this means translations, etc.), overall marketing and logistics, as well as being the arm of the company that communicates with most of the third parties in the west they partner with (especially true for all of the indie games the Switch has been getting).
The president oversees all of that, as well as more stuff that I probably ignore. They have no real hand in making the first party games, but it's still an important job for obvious reasons.

Pokemon Direct tomorrow at 6pm PT, only going to be 7 minutes long.
Basically, all signs point to this being the Generation 8 reveal.

The indie devs behind Crypt of the Necrodancer are somehow making a new game with the Zelda IP. I can't imagine how those folks felt when they got the clear to use Zelda from Nintendo.
