Well, Jaws made my list as well, I just didn't think of it as horror. But if it counts that would be two horror movies on my list.

I had The Exorcist at 14, it does have it's pacing issues but it still gets the job done as far as scares go. I'm not a God fearing man but some of those scenes still make me feel uncomfortable..

You guys talking about Halloween? Uhhhh...I was talking about Jaws but now that you mention it LT might have been talking about Halloween. SHIT. Oh... I didn't think of Jaws or Alien as horror per se, and thought the topic was about horror movies. My bad!

Not a wasted scene. Legit. Indeed. What the fuck does this mean? Fix your quote.
I don't know how. UT/ Emperor was right though... no wasted scenes in Sting. Tight.

Seen it once, never want to see it again. It's a chore of a movie to watch. Visually stunning and well acted, but terribly paced

Seen it once, never want to see it again. It's a chore of a movie to watch. Visually stunning and well acted, but terribly paced I've watched it twice, and it was considerably better the second time. Crazy how much you can miss and don't appreciate on a first viewing of something like this. Not my favorite war movie, but up there for sure.

I said I would about Wonka, so probably.
And the Exorcist is amazing! I think we all forget how fucking horrifying that shit is/was when it first aired. People were throwing up and fainting in theaters watching this shit when it first came out. It changed the world. It's iconic. It also birthed many other exorcism movies. The first time I watched it I had hair standing up and I was freaked out. I think we're all just older and forget how amazing and impactful this movie was to not only the horror genre but to movies altogether.
Respect is due and if I'm the only one that's going to defend it, so be it. This movie is being disrespected right now and it's fucked up.

I understand all that. The Exorcist was extremely shocking for its time and pioneered a lot of things. Great. But when I'm sending a personal favourites list, I don't really care about those things. I've watched it, and I didn't think it was very good outside of "cheap pop" moments. Even some of those haven't aged so well.

Even Witchfinder General is better than Exorcist.
Apocalypse Now does not have poor pacing. It has the requirement of an attention span. These are two different things. It is masterfully done and anyone who knows anything about film knows that it is way more important than...The Exorcist. I can understand if it’s not for you though. It’s a bit unorthodox.
That being said, if you liked The Exorcist then you will LOVE The French Connection by the same director starring GENE HACKMAN in an academy award winning performance that is also better than The Exorcist.

Apocalypse Now was easily better than the Exorcist for my money, one of those movies you either love...or are wrong.
In all seriousness, I can see how some could have issue with the pacing, but I thought it masterful, really doesn't work if it's a brisk romp through the jungle.

Interestingly enough that these movies are being compared since they are both also famous for having absolutely brutal sets.

Grease is fucking great and I'm happy it not only made the list but above bores like Exorcist and Apocalypse now , it's imminently more rewatchable and enjoyable and features a Top 5 , Top 3 , TOP 2 movie soundtrack of all time for my money. Travolta and ONJ are both incredible and charismatic as the leads and carry the movie throughout but the supporting cast is also a ton of fun , especially Rizzo and Frenchy.
Also doesn't hurt that ONJ is throwing heat in this movie and it's IMO one of the hotter performances of all time.

That’s because Apocalypse Now is so good and important that no one would even dare try and imitate it for fear of failure and disappointment. Everyone and their grandmother imitate Exorcist because it’s easy.

You guys are killing me!
Grease is my #3!
My wifes 2nd favorite movie of all time and a fucking classic. I had this one spot ahead of Exorcist and this movie is so much fun.
It not finishing in the top 10 is infuriating! You guys suck!

Earlier in this thread, we were positing whether being Australian makes you more likeable.
Grease is proof positive that not only are relations between Americans and Aussies great, we just go together like ramalamalamakadingadadingadong which is Aussie for "shrimps" and barbies.
Truthfully, I don't know if I've watched Grease more than twice, but I must have listened to the album at least a hundred times. Every weekend, that tape would be in the car on the way to the family farm, to the point where I could recite every lyric word for word. It was one of five secret abilities I possessed, which has amazingly proven useful on four seperate occassions.
Best songs? Grease Is The Word? You're The One That I Want? Summer Nights? Grease Lightening? All contenders.
Beauty School Dropout was always my go to. I just love it as a subversion of the guardian angel trope with the angel giving Frenchy a kick up the ass. So many good lines through out and it's very doo-woopy, which as you all know is my not so secret shame.

It’s so hard to pick the best and it really depends on the mood. Summer Nights is pretty iconic and an easy Karaoke/Dance Song but sometimes guy just need a little Grease Lightnin in your life.

Apocalypse Now was my number 2, it just gets better the more times I watch it. I too love the pacing apart from getting sidetracked on the French plantation. It just ratchets up the tension as the journey goes along and builds anticipation for what Willard was going to do when he encountered Kurtz. Memorable side characters and scenes like Kilgore, Chef and the Playboy Bunnies do a great job of relieving the tension and make the 200 + minutes that much more enjoyable.

Not really the biggest Grease fan, and even less so after hearing Summer Nights and You're the One That I Want for the umpteenth millionth time during Ladies Night.

Not really the biggest Grease fan, and even less so after hearing Summer Nights and You're the One That I Want for the umpteenth millionth time during Ladies Night. Kinda this. I have no hard feelings toward Grease, and even liked it the first few times I saw it. But it got played to death. Happy it made the list, wish it wasn't ahead of Sting (which I had Wife watch last night) and Apocalypse Now... But whatever. I'm taking rankings for this countdown with a massive grain of salt, since really they all could've been in any order... The decade was that great across the board.

Are the people complaining about Apocalypse Now's pacing talking about Redux?
Theatrical Cut > Final Cut > Redux
