That's right. We have reached the 12th week of the NFL Regular Season and it's time to recognize who is for real and who is not. Time to split the contenders from the pretenders. Week 11 saw some teams exposed as pretenders, but Week 12 will give us more insight. We have some awesome games in store, so let's get to it!
THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
AFC South Showdown; Houston survives
Sorry jTjohncenaGOAT, but it's just a feeling I got. Listen, Week 11 had the Colts give their best performance of the season and the Texans give their worst performance of the season. On short rest, this could be a game where Indy is still on a high and the Texans are still on a low. The Colts clearly have the better coach and dare I say, a top 5 HC in the NFL. However, in this game, I think the injuries finally come back to haunt the Colts. They've done an admirable job without TY Hilton and even though he is questionable to return, I don't think he returns at 100%. The Colts lost their starting RB in Marlon Mack to a broken hand and will now need Jonathan Williams to continue his performance from last week. We'll see if it's a fluke or not. I don't think this game is high scoring at all. As a matter of fact, I can see both offenses struggling to move the ball for most of the game. In the end, I think the best players on the field make the big plays. Watson and Nuk being the two best on the field. It'll be a tight game, but Watson hitting Nuk for the GW TD with 1:25 left will be too much for Indy. Failing to move the ball down field in that much time due to lack of weapons will haunt Indy. Houston takes control of the division.
Texans def. Colts 17-13
Stunner at Met Life; Jets hurt Raiders playoff hopes with win
This 6-4 season for the Raiders feels too good to be true. Although the Raiders have been quoted saying that they are not looking ahead to their game against the Chiefs, it's clearly in the back of their heads. The Jets are coming off a shallacking of the Redskins and I see Sam Darnold keeping up his hot streak here with 3 TD passes. The Raiders are vulnerable to big plays and Robby Anderson is a late season cactus when it comes to self hype. What do I mean? I mean he always finishes a year with ridiculous numbers to make himself look like the real thing for the following season. Add his big play capability and he's bound to catch a 50+ yard TD pass this week. The Raiders have won some tight games lately, but have found a way to 'just win, baby'. Derek Carr will continue his mistake free trend here, but that defense that has been willing them to big wins will fall short of meeting expectations in this week. I just have a bad feeling that this Black Hole Pipe Dream comes to a halt with a devastating two score loss to Gang Green in this one. Plus, why wouldn't the Jets continue to ruin their chances for a high draft pick? Am I right, Blindy?!
Jets def. Raiders 38-28
Danny Dimes has 5 turnovers; Bears D make Trubisky look worse by winning without him
I don't expect Mitch Trubisky to play in this game and that will be viewed as a blessing. However, it will not be the offense that wins them this game. It will be that D who even at 4-6 refuse to be counted out as a non playoff team. This is about as bad of a match up that Daniel Jones can ask for. Remember what NE did to him? Same thing here. The pressure will be way too much for Danny Dimes here as he will throw 3 interceptions and be sacked 5 times. 2 of them will be strip fumbles. I expect two defensive TDs in this game and Barkley to sit out the 4th quarter in a blowout. The Giants register one FG in this one and the Bears pick up a dominant win. People don't want Trubisky back as Chase has a mistake free game while throwing for less then 150 yards and a TD to Allen Robinson who has 80 of those 150 receiving yards. David Montgomery runs in the teams only other offensive TD and this is a game NYers want to forget.
Bears def. Giants 34-3
Roaring in DC; Driskel outperforms first rounder Haskins
Let's get this shit fest out of the way early. I just want to give myself props for calling that big TD for Guice last week. Typical of the Jets. This could be a perfect game for the Redskins to do what they do best and that's run the ball against one of the worst teams against the run. The question will be if Callahan will force feed AP or allow Guice to continue his hot return? Either way, the problem will fall to Dwayne Haskins sucking ass. Slay will shut down Scary Terry this week and that'll have Haskins trying to move the ball with short passes. I'll give Guice another TD this game and Haskins scrambles one in himself. Still, it wont be enough, because this Lions team is still better then their 3-6-1 record indicates. Driskel will make more plays then Haskins and that will lead the Lions to victory in a game I could honestly give two shits about. I'll make it exciting by saying Haskins has a chance to lead his team into FG range to win the game and he gets them in position for a 48 yard FG, but Dustin Hopkins misses the GW FG wide right. Shame too after Prater goes a cool 4/4 from FGs in this one. Because the Redskins suck.
Lions def. Redskins 19-17
They did it, they did it!; Bengals pick up first win of the season
One thing we will admit is that the Bengals seem to play with heart. They did so last week against the Raiders and the man with the biggest heart, Auden Tate, was carted off with a scary injury. The Steelers are coming off of a awful loss which had injuries to Juju, Conner and Dionte. Oh yeah and there was a brawl. So the Steelers are living a life of distractions and injuries and when your QB is Mason Rudolph and he has no weapons to throw the ball to, it's a recipe for disaster. Add in the fact that this game is in Cincinnati and I am extremely convinced that this is an easy win for Cincinnati. Boyd complained about lack of targets so he will be successful in getting oil on the squeaky wheel. It will not be a high scoring game by any means as Pitt's D will do their best to keep it close, but Cincinnati will leave with their first win of the season and first of his career for HC Zack Taylor. All of a sudden, the Redskins are in position for the #1 pick in the upcoming draft. Sorry 🤯, but the Steelers are too broken down.
Bengals def. Steelers 23-17
Doing it for Myles; the Browns win with pride
I am extremely intrigued to see how this team performs after the embarrassment and publicity they've had to deal with since that Thursday Night game. Even in victory, the Cleveland Browns lose. A win here by Miami almost feels too predictable. It's just the Browns way. However, I feel this team has a lot of pride in themselves and I think Baker Mayfield will show that he is a true leader in this game. Jarvis Landry is in a revenge game against Miami and is a guarantee to hit pay dirt. OBJ is finally getting into that end zone this week and he's going to do it twice for good measure and because he fucking has to for me! Baker Mayfield will have a 4 TD performance in this game and the Cleveland Browns will dominate Miami showing the world that they are not a joke. I expect that D to play hard for Myles and wreak havoc on the mistake prone Fitzpatrick. Browns in a blowout.
Browns def. Dolphins 38-10
Broken from choke job; Denver is beaten down by Buffalo
YAY, RT! I'm back in on the Bills picking up wins. To be fair, I had them losing to Miami because I was disgusted by their offense against Cleveland. Just making that clear, because I did pick them to win in pick'em, but whatever. The Broncos blew a 20-0 lead against the Vikings last week and ruined any slim chance they had of making the playoffs. Moreso they ruined any chance of the Broncos retaining Fangio as a HC next season. All the whispers about him are he can't relate to players and coaches so the end is very near for Fangio. The beat down they will receive in the hands of the Bills this week will be the last straw. I wouldn't be surprised if Denver moves on after this game and leaves Fangios old ass to freeze in Buffalo. Bills keep the playoff dream alive by keeping the Broncos to one garbage time TD to Noah Fant with less then a minute to go. The Broncos are so good they go for 2 and get it with a QB scramble. Because fuck it.
Bills def. Broncos 27-8
CMC & Kamara put on a show; The Saints go marching on
The CMC vs Kamara battles are a thing of beauty in the NFC South. You gotta love it. I expect both men to total 150 yards each in total yards and each hit pay dirt. However, that'll be the only time the Panthers hit pay dirt as they are limited to 4 FGs in every other time down field. A big day for Slye will not fly in the win department. The Saints D makes stops when they need to on big 3rd downs forcing the Panthers to 3's. In the end, Drew Brees does enough to put the game away for good with a TD pass to Michael Thomas with 3 minutes to go. Kyle Allen throws an interception on the first offensive play and the Saints run out the clock. They get to sit cozy as they await to see the winner of GB/SF later that night.
Saints def. Panthers 34-19
FLY EAGLES, FLY; Philly stun the Seahawks at home
Inconsistency is the key word when describing the NFC East. One week, the Eagles look toast, the next week they look great and then the next week they show heart. Their lack of weapons and another drop by Agholar put a heart filled performance to rest for the Eagles last week as their upset fell short. Well now, the Eagles get one of the leading MVP candidates in Russell Wilson coming to their home and I have a feeling that the Eagles are about to put together their first true complete game of the season. A big, season saving victory for the Eagles here. Wentz leads his team into FG range and Elliot ends it with a 48 yard GW FG as time expires to give the Eagles a monstrous victory. The Philadelphia fans go crazy and the Eagles are still contenders. Before I get called ridiculous for such a claim; check this out. 7 of the Seahawks 8 wins have been by 7 points or less. Two of them by 1 point. A tight game is bound to go the other way and this will be that game.
Eagles def. Seahawks 30-27
St. Nicholas Bounces back; Jaguars win AFC South showdown that nobody watches
There's literally only two late afternoon games. This one and Dallas/NE. Who the fuck is going to watch this one? Those poor Jacksonville and Tennessee fans. Anyways, could care less about this game between two mediocre teams. The Jaguars were humiliated last week by the Colts and I expect them to bounce back here. Fournette will definitely touch the ball more according to their HC. So fuck it. I still believe in late season St. Nick. Just because it would be fucking ironic and funny, I have a bold prediction. This game that nobody wants on their TV screens will not only be low scoring, but will go to OT! Give me a 65 yard TD run by Fournette to end the game in OT as fans are tortured by extra time.
Jaguars def. Titans 23-17 in OT
WHO IS AMERICAS TEAM?; ON THIS SUNDAY IT'S THE COWBOYS
Nothing impressive came out of that NE victory last week. The offense has been lethargic as of late. I went over the fact they have no playmakers right now and if they want to win this one, they're going to need to do it defensively. Unfortunately for them, Dak is having a career year and has been red hot as of late. I see the defenses keeping this close throughout, but in the end Dak breaks loose for a TD run with less then 4 minutes to go that puts up the Cowboys for good. Nick Folk attempts to make it a one score game with less then 2 minutes to go, but his FG goes wide right. Bill Bellicheck ejects him from the team flight. Dallas picks up a character building road win against the best team in the AFC.
Cowboys def. Patriots 27-17
SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
GAME OF THE WEEK
THE BEST OF THE BEST; GIVE ME RODGERS!
A home game for the 49ers will be a homecoming for Aaron Rodgers. Jimmy G has been the weak link of this Niners team until he orchestrated some huge drives to defeat the Cardinals last week. This team has been led by that tough defense, even when the running game has started to falter. As for the Packers? After a red hot start by their defense to the season, they have slowly started losing battles and giving up more falling out of the 'elite' category. Still, they have found a way to utilize their RBs and no-named receivers. And why is that? Because of Aaron F'n Rodgers. So if I'm making a pick for the winner of this game, I am basing it off of the best player on the field. The best player on the field will become even more God-like by disecting this excellent D of San Fran in the final 2 minutes of the game. Rodgers will lead his team 64 yards to the 11 yard line. 3rd and 10 with 21 seconds to go, we will see magic. Aaron Rodgers will scramble and hit Davante Adams (who never gives up on the play) for the GW TD with you guessed it, 11 seconds to go. The Cali Boy pulls off the victory in the battle in dramatic fashion as the game lives to the hype of GOTW. The 49ers lose another close game to a legitimate opponent and begin getting questioned about their legitimacy. pduh promises revenge on UT in the playoffs! The Packers, Saints and 49ers all leave Week 12 with 9-2 records. The NFC remains the fucking best thing in football!
Packers def. 49ers 28-27
MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
Lamar clinches MVP; Ravens take top spot in AFC
I said that the Rams were done and I'm standing by it. This could be a huge win for the Rams if they can get it done. We'll see what McVay can put together to get this team into the end zone. I'm also intrigued to see how Wade Phillips tries to stop Lamar in this one. This one has a lot of big names in it that I'm excited about. Jalen Ramsey playing a meaningful MNF game should have no problem shutting down whoever he has to guard. The story will be Lamar Jackson and if he can disect and run away from this Rams D and Aaron Donald then there is no question he is the MVP of the season. I expect Lamar to put up 100 rushing yards and I expect Marcus Peters to intercept Jared Goff in the end zone on a crucial drive with a tie game with just over 3 minutes to go. That's when the MVP lights will go on. Lamar Jackson will lead his team down field with only 1 timeout remaining, making big runs and passes on 3rd downs. Every time the Rams think they got the Ravens stopped on this drive, Lamar makes something spectacular happen. The biggest play being on 3rd and 10 with 22 seconds to go. Lamar will break free of a Clay Matthews sack making UT proud and scramble ahead finishing it off with a hurdle into oncoming traffic as he is tackled at the 37 yard line. Lamar Jackson has just willed the Ravens intoo FG position. That sets up the best kicker in the game to win it as the Ravens use their last time out with 4 seconds to go. Justin Tucker has already gone 3/3 in this game, twice from 50+. He goes out there to try and make it 4/4 and 3/3 from 50+. This is a magical season for the Ravens and they put together a perfect ending to the Week 12 football as Justin Tucker smashes a GW 55 yard FG as time expires! The Rams playoff hopes take a huge hit with a loss here as Goff folds at the end. With the New England loss the day before, the Baltimore Ravens take over the top seed in the AFC.
Ravens def. Rams 26-23
