Joe Judge the Pats WR(Who stunk this year) and ST coach(Who BB has influence on) is the Giants HC. Seems like a perfect lame duck 1 year hire given Gettleman needs results now.

I guess once Rhule didn’t work, they went for their #2. I don’t know how I feel about this move because I have no idea who this guy is and it’s not like he made WRs better in New England this season. So yeah, I don’t think I like it only because I don’t know anything about this dude.

This is exactly what all the opinion is at the moment - and it's all a bit pointless making a judgement at this stage because no one knows whether it will work or not - just like it was stupid when people acted like drafting Daniel Jones was the worst decision in the history of the NFL. Reporters acting like it's some sort of calamitous event that they didn't get Rhule in for an interview are just clickbaiting, the last time the hot college coach came into the NFL with full control was Chip Kelly and look how that turned out - nothing is guaranteed.

What difference does it make whether you know about him or not? Did you know much about John Harbaugh when the Ravens hired him as a long time special teams coach?

Coaching hires like this are a win-win for an organization coming off a shit season. They either look like geniuses if things turn around right away, or they blame the rebuild and say “he wasn’t the right guy for the job,” and fire him/move him to a different position.

Literally just have to wait and see. I’m just pissed nobody is offering Daboll a job. He’s great. I love him. Would absolutely hate to see him leave Buffalo. :suspic:

Not that I think either of these two things really have any bearing on whether he will be a good HC or not - but on the flip side he's been their special teams coach for years and they've always had a good ST unit (although obviously Belichick is heavily involved).

Belichick has a big pedigree with special teams as well including finding Vinatieri, Gostkowski, Allan and the punter they swiped in Round 5 and Matthew Slater too so I wonder how much pull did Judge have on that unit. 

I truly think *Putting conspiracy theory cap on* that if Jason Garrett is indeed hired to be the Giants OC here, look out if he's named Assistant head coach because that means he would have a massive say on gameplans and be the de facto coach even if not official.  It's just Gettelman knows along with ownership they can't sell the fans on a proven failure like Garrett, at least with the unknown product there's a potential to be good. 

They're not hiring Garrett as OC. The request to interview was for the HC job, and was from before they hired Judge. Judge is getting to hire his own staff.

Browns have made the Browns esque move and are hiring Stefanski over from the Vikings. God damn what body of evidence does this guy have to just get hired, this is like Zac Taylor being McVay's QB coach for like 2 seasons to get the Bengals gig. He's gotta handle Mayfield's mood swings, Beckham's one foot in, one foot out the door, and Landry's schizo tendencies all in one gulp. My goodness. 

Pat Shurmur is going to slide right in as Zimmer's right hand man like nothing happened. Keenum put up numbers, maybe Cousins can follow suit. Shurmur is a lucky lucky man. 

EDIT: Or Jay Gruden I actually forgot Gruden and Zimmer are close but I think Shurmur's likely. 

Stefanski is pretty respected and despite his showing yesterday got the best out of that offense than an OC has had in years. Plus he will actually feature Chubb. I think it's a good hire.


I did laugh at a tweet yesterday though when the Vikings were struggling. "The Vikings and Stefanski have had 5 first downs in three quarters and the Browns have officially decided there is no way they can't hire him". :lol:

Also the idea you have to be a lights out coordinator or positions coach to make a difference as a head coach is dumb. I seen some really stupid narrative around the Judge hire.

I don’t think he’s the right hire for Cleveland either.

They needed a bad ass Head Coach. I was hoping Rex Ryan would be hired after shit talking Baker and the Browns all season. Just to bring the circus full circle but actually fucking deliver.

Oh well. Next season should be Pitt and Baltimore battling it out anyways. Cleveland will be 5-11 or 6-10 and Cincinnati will have a rookie QB excuse.
