Heh. Daniel Snyder just opened up the press conference hiring Rivera with “Happy Thanksgiving everyone”.
And this is why the Redskins can never be good.

Garrett out in Dallas. No idea if that’s good or not but I like when bad things happen to the Cowboys so yay LONG overdue. ABOUT the only coach I can think of that got away with more blatant mediocrity was Marvin Lewis. I would say Jeff Fisher as well but he at least has a Super Bowl appearance. Bottom line though is unless Jerry Jones hires a real GM and a coach that won't kiss his ass the Cowboys are going nowhere. Which I am glad to say is VERY unlikely.

I’m jealous of the Ron Rivera hiring. They paired him up with Jack Del Rio at DC and I have to say I think the Skins are going to be really good in 2 years. I’m intrigued to see if Rivera can make Haskins a better QB then he is because he’s trash right now. Washington has had an underrated defense so I think this signing will be bigger for that defense then the offense right off the bat.
The injuries to Philly make me believe that the Eagles are going to be in rebuild mode soon. It’s surprising that they won the NFC East but with all their offensive weapons falling apart and a weak defense that’s not going to improve overnight the Eagles (or Giants if Danny Dimes doesn’t improve) are going to be at the bottom of a mediocre division.

Will Fuller is highly unlikely to play. Hooo boy, here we go. Kenny Stills and Darren Fells are going to be crucial for the Texans to move the ball.

Also, in honour of JJ's return tonight, how about this for a stat: according to PFF, Watt had a 29% win rate on his rushes against multiple blockers this season. That's fucking absurd. Still the best edge rusher in football when he takes the field.

Funny enough, the next two Head Coaches the Cowboys will be interviewing are none other then Marvin Lewis and Mike McCarthy. This is about the two Head Coaches that would fit the ‘owners bitch’ model. Classic. UT am I wrong on my assessment of McCarthy? How do you think him and Jones would work as a team?

I don't know , he seemed to just put up with the stuff or lack of needs Thompson was filling towards the end. Generally it was Rodgers being the more vocal one and McCarthy just plugged along.
I don't like him as a fit in Dallas at all , I don't see him as the guy to get you to the elite level - he'd be better for a team like the Browns but it isn't a game changer. I don't like him as a fit with Dak and Zeke either ... especially Zeke as Fat Mac never EVERRRRRR wanted to commit to the running game early on and would only lean on it when they were down later in games like an idiot.
The fact that he and Marvin Lewis are the first interviews is amazing. Maybe they are waiting to see if Minnesota loses tomorrow and if they can lure Zimmer away , which I doubt would happen but I know they are big on him.

Welcoming the Pats to this thread for what could the craziest offseason in franchise history.
I thought Brady was leaving , but that pick six could bring him back to the Pats.

Absolutely loved how Jerry Jones was so disgusted over the Eagles winning the division he just said fuck it Jason Garrett you're fired while the Eagles were playing in the postseason I KNEW he would do that, it's like when the Yanks extended Alex Rodriguez contract in that mega 10 year deal while Boston was playing in the world series. He had Sunday evening all the way to the weekend to let Garrett go, he interviewed McCarthy and Marvin Lewis while Garrett was still head coach....he waited for the Eagles to take the field to take the attention away. Absolutely

I'm predicting that Cam Newton is the Pats starting QB next season. Not Phillip Rivers or Andrew Luck? Rivers is a possibility I guess - although to me he feels like a lateral move from Brady in terms of addressing their offensive issues. I'm also not sure he would want to play on the east coast? If Luck unretired he would still be under contract with the Colts and would surely return as their starter?

Rivers wouldn’t be lateral , he’d be an immense downgrade. The Cam prediction is fun but he might stay with a new staff in place.

Damn good hire by Dallas to get Mike McCarthy who got shafted by Rodgers and Co. that really undersold his abilities to get a coaching gig in 2019. Wonder who they accompany him with as coaches? Dom Capers?

Got shafted my ass. There were literal reports that McCarthy wouldn’t get out of the massage room to attend team meetings last year.
Good luck Dallas but this seems like more of a lateral move than anything.

I agree with UT. This isn’t going to make the Cowboys winners. It’s hilarious that the three coaches they were looking at was McCarthy, Marvin and Jeff Fisher. It’s almost like they were trying to be comical about it. I don’t know if McCarthy is going to be any different then Garrett but you know he’s going to be given a solid squad.

In some other thoughts about teams eliminated this weekend:
Buffalo needs more weapons for Allen. They got some nice complimentary pieces and Williams looks to be a potential playmaker but a big target , especially for the redzone would help. Also beef up that offensive line a ton.
The Patriots offseason is up in the air. They need offensive weapons at every level. Especially a tight end. Possibly a quarterback if Brady goes.
The Saints could use someone else besides Thomas as a perimeter threat. Probably more secondary help too.
The Eagles need playmakers outside , and I still think they should look into trading Wentz. The guy is never there when it matters most and I think they could get a good haul for him based on potential. Doubt they ever would but it's got to reach that point of frustration eventually for that team. Other than that they could use a bunch of picks on the secondary as well and their linebackers never scare me.

Reportedly he spent the whole year off learning new things to adapt his offense - which goes to show how much of an idiot he is because he could have done that much earlier when he still had his other job instead of getting massages and munching on cocktail wienies.

The Eagles, believe it or refuse to believe it, are a mess. I’m telling you right now if they didn’t have such a good Head Coach, they’d be 5-11 with that squad. They have holes everywhere. Look at the WRs they had to use in the playoffs. Alshon is always hurt. Aguolar is probably the most hated WR in Philadelphia history to wear an Eagles jersey. They have excellent TEs and Ertz is a machine for playing with broken ribs and a kidney injury yesterday. He’s a monster. Then there’s the D which is a shit show. Look what WRs have done to their secondary all year long including yesterday. The Eagles need a lot of help because next season they’re not making the playoffs. You know who’s going to win the NFC East next season UT? The Dallas Cowboys! And fuck the Saints. I don’t know how they fail with a squad. I think you’re right about them relying too much on Michael Thomas. Jared Cook was a great signing, in my opinion BUT Latavius Murray has proved to be a major downgrade from Mark Ingram. I’m sure Ingram doesn’t regret them pushing him away for Latavius.

Who looks at the first half the Bills had and thinks "you know what? Let's completely change our game plan. Also don't give the ball to Singletary until there's like 4 minutes left in the game." Allen needs a tall WR and hopefully that WR is Duke Williams, and the O-line does need work, but it was 16-0 and the Texans looked completely lost. Whoever was calling the shots in the 2nd half should never work in the league again. They let one sack by Watt completely change the game. If you can't bounce back after one fucking tackle you fucking suck at your job.

I don't know how you can really improve the Saints at this point outside of more playmakers on offense. Brees is *still* getting older though and they have talent everywhere with one of the more complete rosters in the NFL. Maybe in the middle of that offensive line to get the run game going again but damn ... yesterday was just crazy domination by the Vikings. If it wasn't for Taysom Hill the Saints could have scored single digits , at home , in the playoffs.

Not Phillip Rivers or Andrew Luck? Rivers is a possibility I guess - although to me he feels like a lateral move from Brady in terms of addressing their offensive issues. I mean a lateral move isn’t really that bad of a deal for the 12-4 Patriots, especially if he’s considerably cheaper than what Brady’s demanding and you use the savings to put a better team around him. It would really come down to the question of if you think the Chargers have been hamstrung more by Rivers or by poor coaching. I’d rather have Brady obviously, but if Brady’s asking 25-30 and Rivers is asking for 10, I’d probably consider it an even trade off. I still think the most likely scenario is Brady is back and this is all him trying to gain leverage to get paid. I’m not a huge Cam fan, but mostly I’d just be worried about how bad he’s been / how injured he’s been since the Super Bowl.

At what point is Aaron Rodgers held responsible?

Well the Panthers hired Matt Rhule as their Head Coach.
So now the Giants are basically starting from scratch on their coaching search.
