The sign and trade deal that the Saints were trying to pull off with the Browns is an interesting case. I think it's a good thing that the NFL is making sure they don't turn into the NBA where teams tank by trading away cap space for draft picks.
It's amusing to see how far the "Clowney isn't worth that much, he's just a run stuffer" narrative has proliferated. Dude is a good football player.

I think the problem is that people call him a prolific or treat him like an elite pass rusher.
He’s a good football player , but he’s not top tier.

I agree but he's now gone from being a little overrated to underrated because people have got so hung up on his low sack numbers. He had more pressures last season than Lawrence, Garrett, Ngakoue and Ingram for perspective. $12 million is a steal for the Titans who did need some more pass rush. As essentially a replacement for Jurrell Casey on basically the same money it's a slam dunk move.

Yet you compare him to someone like Preston Smith , who is a better football player and gets no hype for whatever reasons.
Preston has more sacks , more pressures , more tackles , higher tackle % rate and is great against the run on top of rushing the passer. Also doesn't have to come off the field 40% of the snaps.
Yet you ask most people and they would think Clowney was the better player. He's not. He's just merely solid.

To me, the most damning thing about Clowney was the fact that even opposite a double-teamed JJ Watt, he didn't grow into an elite pass rusher. He was a guy that Texans fans wanted to keep but not for huge money. Given what he was asking for, Texans made the right call.
He is a good player and I know what HR is talking about, he's better to watch than judge by his stats, but I don't think he's a transformative player for any defense. He just isn't at that level.

Yikes, Rap Sheet reporting that Von Miller might be done for the season with an ankle injury. Big blow for the Broncos.

Oh that just sucks. Pressure going to really be on Chubb now who's also returning from an injury. Dre'mont Jones has reportedly been a beast though and people are predicting a breakout so we'll see. Still a huge blow to what was supposed to be a good defense.

First COVID-19, now this season ender. Absolutely brutal year for Von Miller and this sets up the Raiders nicely for the 2nd spot in the AFC West with both the Chargers and Broncos both losing their top defensive players(Though Bosa might be better than James)

Especially when you have maybe the two worst starting quarterbacks in the division if Lock can’t jump ahead of Carr. Really must be tough being the Chiefs going against the QBs they’ve had to the past couple years. Should see if there is a bet out there that Mahomes throws for more TDs then his three AFC West counterparts combined. That’d be an onion hanger no @admin?

Sucks Herbert could not get reps at all of NFL speed, having to watch Tyrod Taylor for more than a cup of coffee is terrible. Good guy, lousy accuracy. At least they won't have to worry about the lack of fans this year or having the opposing fanbases drown them out on a weekly basis.

Yeah apparently Chubb might not play Week 1 and will be on a snap count when he does make it back on to the field. Some real Walla Walla sized onions! I don't love the other three but you'd think Mahomes would have threaten Peyton's 55 record to beat them all.

Yeah it would have to be right around there.
You figure Taylor - 16? Carr - 20? Lock - 19?
That would be 55 and you’d have to bank on Lock sucking or an injury. Any two of the three combined he beats though.
