BREAKING NEWS:
Baltimore Ravens have RELEASED Earl Thomas.
Wow.
He’s gotten into altercations two off seasons in a row with teammates and honestly wasn’t good last season. He had his worst statistical season since his rookie year. I’m just shocked that the Ravens pulled the trigger on Old Yeller. Shoutout to the movie countdown.

I think he’s being a tad overhyped , he’ll be good and have some monster plays but my brother in law took him 2nd overall IN A NON PPR league last night and I seen him go for 53 bucks in a PPR auction. Aaron Jones went for 27 in that same league and guys like Henry were in the low 40s. So yeah I’d like him at the right spot but he isn’t going to last long at all in most drafts. Ask your brother in law if he wants to join my big money league. I’ll give him 2nd overall pick too lol. All jokes aside, I have seen a lot of people down on Aaron Jones coming into this season whereas the last two seasons the ‘fantasy experts’ have been all for him even screaming “FREE JONES”. I don’t know how I feel about having him on my team this season either to be honest. I’m sure he’ll eclipse 1100 yards rushing but I don’t know if I feel he will match last seasons production. Jones is definitely going to regress , especially with Dillon coming in and hoping to be the goal line back. I’m just merely saying that he cost half as much. You have have Jones and Connor or Jones and Singeltary etc for the same price. Just really saying he has to be elite to live up to where he’s being drafted now as opposed to just being really good or a true RB1.

What in the blue hell are you talking about? How was he not good? He still had ELITE range , he gave up ZERO touchdowns. Only 44% completion rate against him and an insane 24.2 passer rating when in his vicinity. Just because he didn’t have the INT totals doesn’t mean he wasn’t that good. He was elite , especially in coverage and probably the best coverage safety in the NFL. I’d take him in Green Bay in a second.

He didn’t have interceptions or pass deflections. Statistically, it was his worst season since his rookie season. Add in his character issues and he’s clearly not worth it. And you should hope for Antonio Brown more in GB then Earl Thomas. Who the hell is Rodgers going to throw the football to in his final season in GB? UT

UTEmpty stats when you look at the bigger picture , he was the best safety in the NFL in range and coverage. I don’t care how many pass deflections someone has when they set RECORDS against quarterbacks who throw in their direction. You said he fell off or wasn’t that good and that was 110% false. Davante is going to gave 3099 yards and 29 touchdowns. Plus I think we go two tight ends and run a lot. Look for Sternberger and Tonyan to take turns having moments with Adams on the outside.

You’re wrong on both accounts. UTYeah I’m definitely not , anyone who watched Thomas and not glanced at his ESPN stats , or did the slightest bit of research knows you were speaking out of your butt saying he’s not as good.

Interceptions are a reductive stat to base any opinion on - a bit like saying a quarterback is good because he has high passing yards. UT's pretty much on the mark but he might be slightly stretching it by calling him the best coverage safety. I heard some tapedogs say that they thought his athleticism looked compromised particularly early on last year, and that he got better as the season progressed as he got used to operating with less speed and/or anticipation. Conventional wisdom suggests that Justin Simmons and Harrison Smith are the best coverage safeties in the league, while a guy like Eddie Jackson stands off the page in advanced stats like catch rate allowed below expectation. With that said he's still definitely an upper echelon talent who the Ravens appeared to have wanted to keep despite numerous infractions: pduh has already mentioned the Cowboys connection, they've got cap room after releasing McCoy and do need help at safety. They're a team that don't mind taking on troublemakers either.

Fair with the athleticism but his instincts made up for it , maybe a bit of a stretch but those are pretty gaudy numbers for passes thrown in his direction along with not being responsible for a single touchdown. He elevated that entire secondary , allowed guys like Humphrey to shine by simply being there and taking care of the backend and all of this is more impressive considering how often the Ravens blitz , significantly more than any other team in football. To have no huge gaffes on the backend and allow and touchdowns or broken coverages is huge.

Not such good news on the east coast unfortunately. I Madden Cursed Xavier McKinney by putting him as my av - he broke his foot and is out until late in the season.
Things going even worse for the green side of New Jersey:
Lev Bell's also publicly aired his grievance with Adam Gase not giving him enough practice reps at training camp. Yikes.

No Denzel Mims No Breshad Perriman No Vyncent Smith
The WR crew is Jamison Crowder, recently signed Chris Hogan, 2019 UDFA Jeff Smith. Sam Darnold has nothing to work with, just in this case it's due to the WR's. He has Herndon to throw to pretty much.
Bell was angry about being taken out despite being a little banged up and I think Gase was just speaking up Gore's leadership. Look out for L. Perine, our earliest of the 4th round picks though. Looks pretty good.

Maybe the receivers from the backup team should be out there with Darnold?

Maybe the receivers from the backup team should be out there with Darnold? Depends on the chemistry, I know Jeff Smith had blown a couple of routes that cost Darnold 1-2 INT's a few days ago. He was a standout last training camp until he was lost to a season ender.

It's just amazing how some of these teams can't shake their injury proneness. The Eagles suffer another set back with Jalen Reagor out for approx 4 weeks with an arm injury. Wentz is also absent from practice with a minor injury which is supposed to be day to day, but worth following considering his history.
The Chargers took the biggest blow though with Derwin James suffering a recurrence of his meniscus injury. He's at risk of becoming one of those "what if" players, this will be the third season from the past five dating back to college that he's missed significant time of.
One team that did get better today was the Vikings, as they trade for Yannick Ngakoue and finally end that saga. Great get for them to replace Everson Griffen, and they got him at a fantastic price too for a one year contract, six million less than he was going to receive on the franchise tag with Jacksonville.

Watch the Texans go for Fournette. You just know O'Brien loves him.

How do you just cut him without even trading him for something? Between this and the Yannick deal, Dave Caldwell is doing a terrible job with that side and I think he joins Marrone out the door after this year. New management, new start in JAX.

Jacksonville is the most hilarious team in the league and yes I'm including Cleveland and the team I cheer for who lost 4 super bowls.

They tried to trade him all offseason and no one wanted him , I mean the Jaguars are terribly ran but not being able to get anything for Fournette is just the nature of the NFL. He should go to Miami or Pittsburgh. I still think he’s talented but needs a scene change and could be solid behind a better offensive line.

They lost leverage the minute they declined his 5th year option, thus whatever team would acquire him would be looking at that extra year of team control. Kalen Ballage who stinks was going for a condt. 7th, they could have even gotten a Day 3 pick for him. I know they wanted to get rid of his work ethic and he has been difficult to manage but still it's terrible management of talent.

So they were supposed to pick up his option even though they weren’t going to keep him in hopes that a team would trade for him? Whilst also probably being on that hook for the money of that extra year?
You have to get a partner to trade, and either way it’s pretty silly to say that saving themselves a couple million dollars by not picking up his option to garner a 6th or 7th round pick that probably won’t amount to anything.
Of all the things to criticize the Jags over , this is a silly angle. How about their championship level defense all being gone in a matter of like 2 years?

I think most teams probably didn't want to take on his contract. I’d imagine. Especially considering his questionable character and work ethic. He’s worth a shot on a low risk high reward deal. I remember arguing with @theshow about him around his draft and had egg on my face at first but it looks to be coming back around. Weird that I’m not totally giving up.

Also what’s always been weird to me is that despite his size and ability , you’d think he would be good at the goal line or short yardage but he was terrible. Speaks to probably a lack of desire and work ethic in itself.

I don't think he's a jet by any stretch of the imagination but I can definitely see him faring a lot better at a more functional team, especially if he can land behind a better o-line as he's struggled to create plays himself. Maybe Chicago with David Montgomery's status up in the air?
Happy with the Giants signing Logan Ryan as a result of the injury to McKinney. Lucky that someone like that was still available at this stage.

Pats release Mohamed Sanu I could see a few teams interest him including the 49ers which they were interest in him last season before they trade for Sanders

Really surprised by that, what a bust of a trade that turned out to be for them. I expected him to bounce back this season after he was hobbled by that injury suffered as soon as he got to New England but he musn't have been looking good in camp. Pats running with Gunner Olszewski as their #2 receiver. 😳
