Texas would be my only other guess.

It’s a per-capita rating, and only Wyoming was higher.

They don't even know yet how contagious it's going to be and they still think it could/should subside to normal Omicron , Mr. Tragedy Porn. 

It seems like the isolation period here in the UK is going to drop to 5 days now, with rumours that if you test positive on a lateral flow, you don't need a PCR test to confirm your positive.


Some of our ministers are of the idea that 'We can show the world have to live with Covid, turning it from Pandemic to Endemic'.....

Yup, every major news site covered this, but I am the one who is spread fear.  

Also if it recombined there, it will likely recombine in the US given both delta and omicron are spreading here.

But hey, we can pretend this is nothing like we did COVID itself until it starts to spread here.

Hmm..

US tactics.  In the US CDC basically says you can work while you have COVID if you boss is ok with it basically.  Got to keep industries moving and all.  But this is the way we are moving.  Get vaccines and just go to work sick.  Really not much different than how we deal with colds, flus and other outbreaks.

Perhaps every major media source is also the problem.

And as they said it’s still too early to tell what’s going to happen. That’s the point. They also said it COULD subside to normal omicron but that tidbit doesn’t grab the headlines.

The problem is that it was able to recombine. That is newsworthy and someone people need to be aware of. If omicron gets deadlier the US at least is not all prepared to deal with it. And since it did already recombine once, we should take some level of precaution.

School districts in my area seeing a 50% absence rate on average. Jesus christ that is crazy.

Interesting study making the rounds showing kids post infection are more likely to develop diabetes.  Believe it is due to COVID hitting the pancreas.  Already found this in adults.

Our kids head back to classes tomorrow.  I see 2 things happening: parents willingly keeping them home, or our numbers going sky high in about 2 weeks time.

Jake we have adopted the 5 day isolation period mid December.  Apparently Omicron has a shorter infectious stage.  Now if you are still presenting with symptoms, you need to do the 10 days.

He said the pandemic should end this year, based on historic pandemics. Says most pandemics have three kill waves, and we are in the final one. People will still get COVID, but he thinks after this wave that everyone who will die of COVID will likely have already died.

That said, he is basing this entirely on the Spanish Flu pandemic so this assumes that the variants will not change too much.

Fox over the weekend suggested the Full Monty cocktail be used to fight COVID consisting of prozac, ivermectin, an anti-androgen and spironolactone.

Anti-androgens is usually used to stop normal sex hormones before transitioning, and spironolactone is used to promote female sex hormones in male to female transitioning. Clearly the best way to fight COVID is just to transition. It was on Fox so it has to be true.
