Once covid is over the government is gonna mark it with an anniversary purge night. Or at least once the all clear is given, I expect people to go insane in the name of FREEDOM. I thought COVID has been over for like six months now?

I thought COVID has been over for like six months now? To some it was never a thing and a complete hoax. For me it was just a conveniently timed phenomenon aligning with my own personal decision to stop going into an office. EDIT: And stop socializing with friends, family, neighbors, and others who I don't like or otherwise have a desire to make time for.

Here's a thought.
Now sweeping the world we have fears of: UK variants SA variants
But to call Covid-19 a Chinese virus is racist?
"To find out who rules you, ask who you are not allowed to criticise"
I know it wasn't Voltaire, but it's frightening how much money controls the narrative at the moment.

I think, you need to look at the context, calling it the " CHAI-NAH " Virus or the " Kung-Flu " as the former leader of the free world did, implying some sort of conspiracy and thus centralising the blame caused Anti-Chinese sentiment. And the US being the US, they needed a villain to perpetuate it's sense of self-righteousness, and it's inability to help itself or it's people.. and more importantly attempt to undermined it's closest economic & more impressive military rival. "To find out who rules you, ask who you are not allowed to criticise"And by that reasoning, when was the last time someone was able to criticise Israel and their role in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict without being called anti-Semitic? Mom got her shot today. I refused mine. Before you get all bent out of shape, Mom got Pfizer and I found out mine was going to be AZ. I previously thought I would be getting the Pfizer same as her, but because I was jumping the line (due to my weight - that was a fun call) I was told only the AZ was available to me right now. I already have issues with blood clots in my legs, so no thanks. I'll wait for Pfizer or Moderna.
Maybe other Canadians will disagree with me but I feel Canada really shit the bed with regard to vaccination roll out. Now Ontario is in 3rd wave and in lock down again and numbers are growing in here and other provinces. Apparently, in Alberta 35% of new cases are variants which is said to be 2.5 times more transmissible. They apparently can track all the recent positive variant results from one single traveler from an outbreak in Whistler, BC (skiing).
My friend works at a COVID rapid testing location and said on Friday everyone they tested before 11am, tested positive and every one of them said 'it's just a cold but thought I'd check to be sure'.

Blood clot update from the MHRA today:
- In a scenario with medium or high-level Covid circulation, Covid represents a far greater risk to all age groups and both genders than the risk of CVST from the AZ vaccine
- In a scenario with low-level Covid circulation, Covid represents a similar risk to healthy under 30s when compared with CVST risk in the AZ vaccine. As such, healthy under-30s should be offered an alternative vaccine, where CVST pattern does not seem to be as strong.
- There is no gender bias, which will surprise some people given the rumours about a higher risk for women. Women have had more incidents, but they have also more shots, presumably due to the high number of women working in healthcare.
- There is an age bias, it is a higher risk for younger people. It's not a huge difference though.
- Causal link has not been established but it is likely the vaccine as it's the only thing that remotely binds the fatalities together.
- Theory that it is caused by an immune response that causes a low platelet level. It is unknown whether it is caused by this vaccine specifically. It could be seen in all non-mRNA vaccines. It could be triggered by prior Covid infection. It could be genetic pre-disposition. Interaction with medication seems unlikely now as it would not have been difficult to establish.
So it remains mysterious but the link is firming up. It's still worth taking for most people in most age groups. Only those living in wealthy countries that have multiple options should consider taking an alternative if it is available.

The Australian government has indefinitely suspended Astra Zenica vaccine for anyone under the age 50. Unless they discover the reason for the reaction, there will be no resumption. The frustrating part is that this is the only vaccine that we are producing locally, so our vaccination targets are blown out of the water.

I think that's a mistake, especially if it's the only widely available vaccine. Our MHRA said yesterday impact on vaccine schedule targets will be negligible, so offering an alternative is harmless and if nothing else will probably improve uptake in that age group. It doesn't seem wise to delay vaccine programs though. Even if you take the scenario with low-level Covid circulation compared with CVST, there are so few deaths on either side of the scale that consideration should be given to long-term non-fatal effects, of which the vaccine has none, and the virus has many - long Covid and everything that entails from breathing difficulty to exhaustion, mental health impacts, and financial impacts from missing work. Perhaps they're looking at different data to the UK, I don't know.

They're all valid points, I think the reason for the delay is that there are ZERO covid cases in Australia currently, so they have the time to re-evaluate.

Got my first dose of Moderna. Welcome to the club, fam! In between my first and second dose, son started off-campus daycare and brought home outside world germs that have (in combination with spring allergies) resulted in me catching a dreaded MAN COLD for the first time in a year plus. If I'm this ill-equipped to deal with a mild man cold, I am zero percent looking forward to a potentially rough reaction to my second Moderna dose...

Got my second shot today. No side effects after 7 hours. My arm isn't even sore. I've heard rumors of crazy dreams. One can only hope. Going to be so disappointed if I have no weird dreams.

The first Moderna shot didn’t feel like anything when it went in. Later that day my arm was sore and my nose got that feeling when a cold is coming on. But the nose thing went away the next day. My arm is still sore three days later.

Well, to pile on. My first shot of Moderna didn't feel like anything more than a flu shot going in. Wasn't sore day one. But got that DOMS the next day and the day after pretty good. Felt like the kind of bruise from being punched repeatedly in the same spot over in over for middle school birthdays. No other symptoms. Second shot is middle of the upcoming week. In the meantime, got first good old cold in a year plus thanks to son starting off campus daycare this past week and bringing home outside world germs. Feels like the cold is finally breaking today just in time for me to feel better for my second shot of Moderna to then not feel better. Baker-man, hopefully youth being on your side helps. My dad thought no biggie 24-36 hours after his second dose. It wasn't until 48-72 hour period where he got wrecked by the fatigue and fever side effects. So brace yourself and standby, I suppose?

So brace yourself and standby, I suppose? 🤯 earning those brownie points by claiming I have youth on my side. If only! I've had old man aches and pains since like 2011! Second shot is already more intense than the first. I have arm pain and woke up over an hour later than usual. Now that doesn't seem like much unless you know how OCD I am. For I do love my patterns. No weird dreams to report. Sad.
