Not gonna have hyper-inflation with a market crash incoming for the US. Even by the US's lower standards of only a 50% rise in goods. Also our interest rate is basically 0 (0.06) right now. We need to, we can jack that shit up to 20% as we did in the 80's to combat inflation and drop it from 15% levels.
But to go all in on inflation in the US companies will have to be willing to accept less profit as people are priced out of the market. Also we know from Reagan, even amid a global crisis a mix of tax increases and jacking the fed reserve can drop inflation fast. Rest of the world may be fucked, but the US can repeal the Bush and Trump tax cuts, move interest rates to 20% and likely come away fine.
Our largest corporations sell goods these days, and will push hard for this shit too if it means they retain their profit. Walmart and Amazon are not going to see people priced out of their markets.

May as well say goodbye to June iNCY , more cases today. 54 cases in total now. I'm looking forward to hearing how the federal government withdrawing the rule about aged care staff not being able to work across multiple facilities is either the state government's or the liberal media's fault.

Disagree on your read of the market, I agree it's seriously over priced but it needs a catalyst to unwind. I think this will come when fed reserve banks all over the world pull hand brakes in the form of interest rates Governments have been so desperate to stave off recession they're like a redneck throwing fuel on the fire to get it going, but it doesn't light so he throws around more... And more.... Then all of a sudden *Boom* I'm willing to predict the small uptick that's visible in the market is going to turn into a hockey stick graph. Biden is about to announce a six trlion dollar budget... It's coming. You can't throw gas around and play with matches, it's only a matter of time.

Biden budget is DOA already due to the Hyde Amendment repeal. King Manchin also said he does not want to use reconciliation so likely going to see a lasting government shutdown until he yields. Dems are not going to deal with the talk of a high budget after the last four years were the highest budgets we had, and were all GOP budgets. If we cannot afford the budget that is a sign that the two decades of major tax cuts need to be undone as that was what triggered the deficit crisis, not an changes in spending.

Well, vaccine is showing itself to be broadly effective. Splitting the US data by vaccination status, the curve for vaccinated people has COVID cases and deaths dropped quickly towards 0 while the unvaccinated curve remains constant. Also showing that at at 41 percent vaccination rate, things remain unchanged for the unvaccinated.
That said, the one shot rate is at 50% and the slope is leveling off fast, so US may peak around 60%. With this data all children under 12 are excluded. Data in other countries is hard to read since not everyone splits up the two shot vaccines and one shot vaccine, so it confuses those who only are supposed to get one shot with those who are partially vaccinated. But both UK and Canada have some impressive statistics forming up nearing 60% for single dose, and UK steamrolling out the second doses. Not sure what is up with Canada, it looks like either one shot vaccines, or they just are not giving the second shots...
Aussieland is like antivax or something.

No arguments here, but I don't know what we are supposed to do, there's not enough aged care nurses as it is. The state seems to manage running public care homes. They have a staff to resident ratio, and amazingly all the Covid problems have been in private homes where there isn't one.

It is a bizarre situation when it is Government legislation run by the states using private contractors... In other news, I hate this state of Victoria so much today and Brett Sutton is a worm. It's as if driving case numbers TO ZERO is the only metric this government gives the remotest rats arse about

US predicting another COVID wave in the fall. Will be the worst in GOP states but even the liberal states will be affected. Vaccination steadying at 50% and not likely to surpass 70% for two shots. Many GOP states are still in the 30's for one shot.
We are starting to ship out our vaccines towards places that will use them since it is clear the US does not want them and almost everyone who wants a shot has gotten one.
Gonna have interesting political ramifications as the majority of people refusing the shots are older white conservatives. Medicine is better, but when cold and flu season this year is mixed with COVID and we likely will not return to lockdown, a lot of people will be seen after the COVID has damaged their lungs thinking they only have a flu, which is really too late to stop long term damage. Conservatives promoting the idea that vaccinations are not safe for political gain really should have thought of the ramifications of their base dying at a higher rate than liberals.

We have the same here with the government getting persecuted over vaccines in aged care, but residents refusing the jab. I'm pretty pissed because we are in lockdown again, hard lockdown with no schools... It's over 160 days total lockdown over the past two years.
My take is simple, make it so everyone is able to get a vaccine then drop all mask mandates and open everything up... If people die, screw them. As of last week I qualify for the Pfeizer vaccine here, but I can't get through on the booking line.

Yeah I think the US approach will soon become let the GOP kill themselves if they are so insistent on it. Their states want no masks, no lockdowns, no vaccines and reject healthcare funding. They can have it but they should not expect a bailout. No more business money, no more unemployment and no more stimulus checks. Otherwise at this point if they want to die, then so be it. They had 18 months to figure this shit out and a chance to change their leaders.

Call me rad, but I'm not sure there's anyway anyone can convince me that the America and likely the world at large wouldn't be better off if everyone who votes Republican in this last election got raptured by the next wave of corona. Then the remaining Democrats can split with the current centrists becoming the new conservative group, and the squad or whatever remaining as the progressives.

To further clarify my previous statement, I understand such a situation for the greater good would require sacrifice and pain for those left behind. We all love retards. It's not always their fault they're retarded after all. To that end, I'd accept the better world even if it meant losing at six out of seven or son's grandparents.

Is it too disastrous to just wipe your hands of everything and say hey we tried, sink or swim motherfuckers? I know they wanted it contained at the beginning because honestly the healthcare field is just not equipped to deal with it (something that should be addressed maybe?) so they couldn't take a "whatever happens happens" response to it. But is it too doom and gloom to think we should just do that?

Gonna be hilarious when people board planes in Texas and get stuck at airports in other countries that are not playing this game.

MSG opening next month with a Foo Fighters show. Requiring proof of vaccination if over 16 or a negative COVID test if under. Will be the first major test of vaccination passports using the Excelsior Pass (NY COVID passport), as well as, the CDC certificate. The Excelsior Pass uses the NY vaccination registry to determine vaccination status, then presents a QR code that can be scanned. Many in NYC are embracing this, but it remains very divisive. But the attitude is that vaccinated people should not have to suffer any longer because some are refusing vaccines.

Oh, you also have to wear a mask in the brothel.

US forming a working group now to reopen travel to most of the world and get them to allow Americans back in. Our proof of vaccinations are totally legit and definitely not purchased online for a few bucks.
