This is great, so I am getting a lab sleep study done next month and before the sleep study regulations say I need a covid test. Despite having both vaccination shots and immunity as of friday. The people on the phone setting it up have no idea why vaccinated people would need a COVID test, given they can pull up proof of vaccination from the state/medicare registry.

Not sure where the money is coming from, but the US will supply 500 million vaccine doses to the world (enough to vaccinate 250 mil people, and is looking into order a second set from Moderna to ship out.

I assume they're just exporting all the unused doses all our anti-vaxxers refuse to take?

If not, they will soon for sure. This is why I rushed to get mine done. I wanted it while it was easy to get. Now many sites are already closing down, as simply put, in many areas if you have not gotten a shot, they do not expect you to.

People are told they can go on cruises without vaccines, but fine print is they cannot get off the boat at many spots, cannot attend indoor cruise events that are expected to be packed and must always wear a mask unless eating or drinking while outside of their room. First cruise that went out with a fully "vaccinated" group has two people already come down with COVID.

So far none of the cruise lines will comply with Texas or Florida state law that says they must ignore the CDC guidelines and allow everyone to go the cruise without checking vaccination status. In a hilarious statement the head of Norwegian basically reminded people that cruises are boats and they can just go elsewhere to get people.

Cruise shops are Petri dishes.
They will have to build new Cruise ships with better air filtration systems.
Here with the hotel quarantine scheme they have learnt that you need to pay particular attention to air pressure and ventilation to prevent spread.

We had an outbreak here because two hotel rooms opened their doors within 30 seconds of each other.

I love how the US is looking at the UK dealing with the Delta variant of COVID and assuming we will be fine to go maskless in schools in the fall.

Judge in Texas threw out what people assumed would become a right to refuse vaccination lawsuit. Basically a hospital told employees they had 60 days to get vaccinated or they would be fired. 100 plus people filed a lawsuit, and it was dismissed in court as it was ruled within the hospital's rights to fire the unclean.

Imagine working in a hospital and NOT getting vaccinated.

I'm. Not sure you could do that here, you could perhaps make it a condition of employment but I don't think it would be grounds for dismissal.

Our worker protection laws are crazy strong.

Plague rats review bombing now businesses that require vaccination in the US. Many higher scale bars and restaurants are using COVID free dining experiences as a seller and requiring proof of vaccination and plague rats are dogpiling them on yelp and other review sites over it.

Not being done in my area, but in in NYC and other big cities vaccinated and unvaccinated sections are being set up in churches, stadiums, bars and restaurants. They are using the old smoking / non-smoking divisions basically and just chucking the unvaccinated into outdoor smoking sections or in plexiglass enclosed areas where they then force masks. Others are considering using a VIP like system to register you are vaccinated and then have you enter in a different door to totally avoid the unvaccinated, special deals for the vaccinated and just more perks.

Given 30% of Republicans are saying still they refuse to be vaccinated this should get interesting as time goes on and they are discriminated again. Businesses have the legal right to do it, as smoking shown, unless laws are passed on a state or town level. Even then, businesses can sue and take this to the Supreme Court and claim free speech and overturn the laws since vaccination is not a protected class.

In Georgia an argument at a supermarket over wearing a mask saw the person arguing leave the store, then shortly return and shot the cashier that told them they needed to a mask. The cashier died on the spot.

Found 23.2 had lasting effects to the pulmonary system. When the US is looking at 33.5 million reported cases this is a shitload of people with issues that could last the rest of their lives. There is no hard relationship between the severity of symptoms and post infection conditions outside of lung damage from the infection itself, so many who think they had no symptoms, may have long lasting effects.

What is better is the realistic timeline is four people in China were infected then flew home for the holidays.  Which places the US outbreak starting at the same time as the Chinese outbreak.  If one of them flew to Wuhan sick, say from a lab leak from UNC Chapel Hill that was doing gain of function research on SARS it could explain the entire outbreak assuming the others were just at an airport with the infected person.

The authorities flatly denied that there were bats in the Wuhan lab.
If this story contains actual footage, then we know there is lying here, we just don't know how much.

The virus likely did not come from bats but pangolins. This is the problem I have with the lab theory, almost everyone that argues it, argues points that are already out of date.

Also for the logic to work out in the lab leak theory there needs to be a conspiracy. The top people in virology would have had to been in on this and pressured the science journals to not publish about the leak and support the coverup of natural emergence as well. In small communities we all know what others are researching as we talk and bounce ideas off them all the time. So gain of function research that could have resulted in COVID would have been known to others before it could escape. A paper on the cause of the COVID epidemic that could replicate it would win a nobel prize. Even if the researcher did not want to publish someone else in the field would as they will go down in history as the first person to explain the exact origins of a pandemic.

Then there is the issue of disease vectors. The reason most do not accept the lab leak in the science community, is that it does not follow conventional epidemiology. If there was a mistake at the lab, the path of transmission would be very predictable. People at the lab are infected, then their families, and the web goes out from there. But in the lab leak theory as presented, the virus did not spread until it was introduced to the wet market. The only vector that makes sense here is the virus jumped from the human to a live animal at the wet market, then rapidly mutated and passed back to a human.

There are a lot of other issues that experts point out, like the scientists talking about genetic modification of the virus are not speaking accurately. In particular the same modification that is being claimed to be altered into COVID is only found in 3% of the samples and also occured naturally in SARS.

Also the entire argument of the lab leak reaks of the Glenn Beck style of right wing media. It consists of questions offering little proof, and when counterfactuals are found to their arguments they just that and move onto something else even if the new theory they posit contradicts others ones they are presenting. The arguments share more with conspiracies than science.
