Each party will include in their bills what their people hold as vital. Her bill has pork in it but the reason a bill has not yet passed is before the GOP insists right now airlines should be able to buy stock with bailout funds. That is the last holdup and the one neither side will move on.
I will say this still, Nancy's plan gives me a check, Mitch's doesn't.
Also this bailout is a scam since after the companies get their money the US is reopening. GOP cannot survive the election with a bad economy so Trump is going all in on most people getting well without treatment.

The House Bill was never going to get a look anyway so it was all pro forma talking points more than an actual thing, a wave to the base. It’s a distraction. It’s the Senate bill that’s gonna matter.

I am not defending Trump, I am saying that Pelosi is an idiot and exactly symptomatic of the Dems obsession with wokeness. They are constantly pandering to the nut bag fringe elements of their party as if that is where the elections are won... Newsflash: It's not! If Trump's election didn't teach them anything about abandoning the struggles of the working class for transgender bathrooms and wind power, then they are unteachable.

As Mike said the house bill was DOA as long as the Democrats in the senate were negotiating. The Senate bill will pass as soon as stock buybacks are banned.
It is absolutely sick though that companies of lobbying the senate for money they can use for stock buybacks and Trump to reopen the economy. The bill is nothing more than a cash grab and people are totally fine with their taxes being raised and services being cut so they spend more out of pocket to finance companies buying back their own stocks. We are funding a long term crisis that will only last weeks, and does nothing to solve the crisis that is still to come.

And kid if you can get in before the bill passes the largest airlines may be where you want your money to go. If we reopen the economy soon they get a large bailout with minimal downtime. If you can get their stocks while they are still down, seems a safe bet since so many people believe this stimulus with a targeted airline bailout is vital to the US. Many look to be doing layoffs before the bill hits as well to cut costs while they can. Hit some market new sites and see what they project but air travel is essential to many and I think this may be one of the safest bets you can make right now. If they can buy back their own stock with the stimulus fundings even more so.
Boeing stock is really low now. Recovering but nowhere near last month's numbers for instance so not alone in thinking this. Should double when this is over at least. Trump says he will not let them go out of business either, so safe bet too. Stock could triple if the 737 Max hits the air after the crisis.

Yeah I’m looking into Boeing, GE, GM, CVS and Disney for my opening portfolio.
My cousins a financial advisor and he’s been telling me about some possible things to go after such as Apergy but I have no idea what that is. He also recommended CVS to me.

We are funding a long term crisis that will only last weeks, and does nothing to solve the crisis that is still to come. I don't think anybody thinks that this is what is happening. This is not about how money is used, this is about Congress trying to control how companies operate based on receiving the money. It is fanciful that any company is going to engage in stock buybacks, that is done with surplus cash which no longer exists. By all means put in the legislation that stock buybacks can't be done with bail out money and that you have to pay it back if you don't retain 90% of your workforce... But trying to write into the bill minimum wages, employee seats on the board, the nature of corporate buy backs.... This is insanity and pure ideology that has no place in a stimulus bill.

Build a wall and keep your problems to yourself.

If no company wanted to buy back stock then why are they pushing so far the option to do just that? That has been a major hang up for days now. This is an emergency bailout that US taxpayers will support paying for. Not sure about others, I do am not cool with my money going towards companies buying stock. I do not see that as an emergency situation that justifies raising taxes or cutting services that will increase my yearly spending.
If the money was to be use for legit purposes they were would be no need to mask who gets it as well until after the election.
But the democrats are out of line here for wanting to promote worker rights, election security and alternative energy with this crisis. Trying to sucker America into giving a trillion dollars to businesses who took risks and failed however is AOK.
Frankly I want democrats to just walk away from the table altogether. These companies all support free markets, and this is not how a free market works. A free market would those who failed to prepare for an event like this to fail. So let them fail. Sick of the double standard that socialism works for the rich and corporations but not for the average person. Dems should just walk away. Let the bill die in the House. This bill is no longer needed now that the government will seek to end the lockdown in one week. It is a shit deal for the American people and we need hospitals not corporate stock buying and bonuses to get through this.

It is a shit deal for the American people and we need hospitals not corporate stock buying and bonuses to get through this. So no money for anyone then, it is a valid argument. The idea though that somehow money to corporations isn't in the interest of the general public is crazy. These corporations pay the people, if the companies disappear the jobs disappear too. Trump has said he is happy to crack down on stock buy backs and executive pay for companies that receive money. You don't want a free market c, in a down economy like this it becomes a dutch auction of who will work for the least. In Australia we are paying out huge sums of money to those that are now unemployed thanks to the Covid-19 epidemic. And while I am sympathetic, I don't understand the demanding tone people take with the government, it is nobody's responsibility but your own to keep you supported. People are screaming about landlords and banks and how it is so unjust and I am just totally confused how keeping to the terms of the contract is unjust, but what do I know.

People can say what they want but fact is Mitch will not remove the part that allows stock buybacks and Dems will not vote on it until it is removed.
So people need to support themselves but corporations do not. Socialism should exist for corporations but not people. I get it, corporations matter and people do not. But how do you expect to sell a product to the dead? Or to people now without money. Trickle down economics failed the people in the 80's and frankly people are sick of hearing how it will fix things again when time and time again it has failed the common people.

Stock buybacks were banned for 1 year by companies taking funds and bill moved forward last night. People involved in the Congress and President, are barred from taking funds, as are their families.

They are stopping people working for the public good. I don't understand. What public good is there in locking people in their homes and telling them to depend on capitalism? If your argument is that the government shouldn't interfere, I can understand the sentiment. I don't understand how a government can have the power to stop people leaving their homes to work, but doesn't bear the responsibility of what happens to those people.

They are not telling them to depend on capitalism. They are telling them they can't go to work if it puts the community at risk. The amount of investment and how over-extended people might be is not the governments responsibility. I had a big argument with a family member because they were offering repayment holidays on mortgages, meaning you can go 6 months without a payment but their interest still has to be paid back. He was upset that the interest wasn't waived for 6 months, I couldn't understand why anyone would think that the bank was responsible?

Oh shit, Biden is no longer gonna debate Bernie.
Also for all the people saying Nancy was the reason holding up this package she is still planning to whip for unanimously passage. Whether the socialists fall in line or not remains to be seen. If they have to vote, they have to return to the capital. Senate is waiting for this bill to pass to get the fuck out of dodge themselves.
Governors had it with Trump and are telling him they refuse to reopen until this passes. Looks like they will get whipped next or politics gets really awkward.

OMG what a shit show.
Scott, Graham and Sasse blocked the vote for the stimulus package complaining about the unemployment provision after several speeches on the floor about how the democrats were destroying America by blocking the votes yesterday. Fuck that timing.
In the House Kevin McCarthy blocked unanimous voting which will further delay the bill. Maybe those speeches damning democrats were best kept until the bill passed and not when your own party is going to hold the bill up until next week most likely.

Graham wants to open the bill up to amendments to cap unemployment benefits out of a lack of understanding of how unemployment is paid. No one gets more money than they did while employed from unemployment, that is just not how it works in any state.
With one amendment, the door opens for everyone to propose. Curious if the hammer will fall on the tea party finally from this. Graham and crew threatened to slow roll the bill and do the super formal vote to hold this up for days.
