You know... It is almost inconceivable for this to be thought as the real world. When democrats desperately need to build a name for their candidates they impeach a president taking all the oxygen in the room and then make a shambles of it. There was no rush to impeach and they could have waited until they had the case airtight before they started... A non-impeachment gives Trump clear air.
Then with the entire world watching they screw up the Iowa primary so badly that people are going to bed shaking their heads.
Beating Trump should be easy, but the Dems are going to lose, I'm calling it now. But at least they will be able to tweet about how woke they are.

I'd vote Bernie and lean left, but if they insist on Biden I'm voting Trump. You get what you fucking deserve.

I just want to say I cannot believe that Iowa would screw our president they way they did. Massive voter fraud lead to him not getting a single vote it is being reported. This fucking unbelievable. He should have been top of the polls.
And beating Trump is nearly impossible in the US. Most of his base believe he is doing an amazing job. He restored the economy to the best it has even been, he cut people taxes so they are making more (but democrats take the gains with social security), jobs are flooding back to America, he secured the country from terrorists and the world sees the US as the great country we should be. If you hear anything saying otherwise it just the democrats spreading fake news because crooked Hillary still believes she can steal the election.
Add this to trying to win an election were the right is already claiming voter fraud in races they have no candidates in, faught extremely hard to keep insecure election machines without hard copies of the ballots in place and made repeated statements that it is legal to interfere with US elections if it helps the sitting president. Trump will win whether or not he actually has the votes. What we saw in Georgia with Stacey Abrams losing due to a series of problems, and the Iowa disaster will be the national 2020 election. And there is nothing that can be done about it because Mitch blocks votes on all reforms. A crooked system that supports the powers in office in the US is considered completely acceptable these days. Once Trump gets a two more seats on the supreme court we will get 30 years of this.
The dems decided two years ago that Biden would face Trump next. The actual primaries do not matter and never did. The superdelegates exist to block the people from electing a socialist or anyone else who would hurt corporate profits on the left. America has been and will remain a Corpocracy. Democrats just roll over to this shit. We have since 2000. Healthcare reform, gun control, Garland, two suspicious election results, they just keep taking the hits and continue to infight and focus more on identity politics than actual politics. So really, we get what we fucking deserve at this point.
I am still waiting for Trump to announce he will run in 2024 instead of putting Don Jr in the white house. It is very likely the gerrymandered senate and stacked supreme court would allow it, which is why he keeps joking about it. But realistically, we are looking at Don Jr winning in 2024 to start a dynasty as Trump's base already have appointed him the only person who can follow Trump in office. Feel bad for Pence but Trump will turn on him I bet in 2022 until he quits. Romney already is an enemy of Trump's so stands no chance of winning in 2024 unless people turn. But cult members often do not admit they are wrong, so continuing to be wrong is better for them.

I'd vote Bernie and lean left, but if they insist on Biden I'm voting Trump. You get what you fucking deserve. Yeah, this is insanity... Honestly absolute mind-numbing insanity. Bernie doesn't have the remotest chance of beating Trump, with everyone left in the race only Warren is less electable. It is one thing to win Primaries with a platform of giving free stuff to young people who feel left out of prosperity... Maybe because their major in the Arts hasn't paid off... (Another time) Another thing entirely to appeal to the mainstream whose taxes have to fund all of the free stuff. Bernie and Warren will be slaughtered the first time the acid comes on them on how they are going to pay for all of this free stuff. Biden is a centrist, I think this gets forgotten that to win elections you actually need to appeal to a portion of the other side. Trump took the rust belt workers and promised USA first, what is the Dem strategy apart from "We're not Trump"? I just want to say I cannot believe that Iowa would screw our president they way they did. Massive voter fraud lead to him not getting a single vote it is being reported. This fucking unbelievable. But cult members often do not admit they are wrong, so continuing to be wrong is better for them. I agree with most of what you wrote, but a fantastic way to alienate the very people you need to work the campaigns. @ness saying Bernie or Trump makes no sense, but I totally see it being Bernie or nobody for a lot of his Dem grassroot supporters. Which is the problem people should be addressing, the idea that there are people who think Trump should be impeached but wouldn't get out to vote for their non-preferred candidate against him is lunacy. But the world has gone crazy as we enter the "You agree with me or you are the enemy" phase. For what it's worth I read the Dem turnout for the Primaries in Iowa was one of the lowest of all times and Trump's turn out was one of the highest ever for an incumbent. But by all means, let's continue the stage show of the rabid left at the cost of the Democratic parties chances at the ballot box.

Ironically, many Bernie supporters vote Trump if Bernie is not the nomination. I have no idea why. Actually I do, they figure if they cannot get the candidate they want, they would rather see the world burn. Which is a common zoomer attitude these days. Let the US go to shit because it is what the older generations deserve for the way they fail them.
The reason people are apathetic is because of the way the US political system works. If you are in a blue state, your state can vote all blue, but the country is still controlled by the Senate, Administration and Supreme Court which are all red. Your vote meant nothing nationally. Unless you are in a gerrymandered district, than your vote meant nothing locally as well.
For democrats, it has long been assumed that unless a candidate can get a super majority, which is nearly impossible in a multicandidate setting, that it will be a corporate friendly stooge who is center at best will take the nomination. Since we use first past the post voting and a single leader, there can be no third party, so left wing politics are non-existent in the US. Moreso we look at congress and see not one of them really cares about the common person. They serve corporate donors. Does not matter who you vote out, without corporate donations to your campaign you will never get heard and cannot afford to run a multimillion dollar campaign. Even many of the socialists after being in congress a few years start to take the corporate money. Representatives are not our peers and rarely actually represent us anymore.
Why should people care? We know the deck is stacked. You do not get paid time off to vote so if you commute forget voting. Sure you can get an absentee ballot but the offices to do so are only open during the time you work. Go to school and work? You do not get to vote either. What do most of these people have in common who cannot vote? They support democrats.
We know this too. The deck is stacked this way, and it is legal. Gerrymandering is legal. Foreign election interference is now legal. Lobbying is legal. The common people short of a revolution cannot do not anything, we simply do not have the power. Then people wonder why we get so apathetic about voting. Literally for most people, there is nothing that can be done as our representatives take our voice and have long since stopped representing the people in favor of representing their money.

Literally for most people, there is nothing that can be done as our representatives take our voice and have long since stopped representing the people in favor of representing their money. Firstly, the foreign election interference thing is hilarious as Trump has been doing what is standard US policy to foreign elections, they interfere all of the time. I have no problem with people opting out of the system or exercising their right to not vote, or even making a protest vote, but they should be forced to hand in their twitter accounts and their right to protest. Participate in the system or piss right off. In Australia voting is mandatory and always on a Saturday, you can register to absentee vote if you are working or away. We have what is effectively an electoral college and quite frequently people win the popular vote but lose the election. The point is that with a mandatory vote, everyone has had their say and you get a mandate, it is the will of the people and you cannot argue it. Trump is a monumental dick, but he is not satan incarnate and I am also pretty sure that Pelosi doesn't eat unborn babies. You wouldn't know it though from the news. The world is post-truth and anyone wanting to lay it at Trump's feet is delusional, it started with George W and Obama kicked it up to another level, where the medial portrays a different reality to what is actually happening. If we cannot rediscover the art of the conversation and debate facts to see what ideas work, the West is dead. This is actually a far worse disease in the left wing politics where "Shutting down a debate" is counted as winning it.

The US tried for mandatory voting a some points. GOP venomously opposes it and it is likely infringing on freedom of speech and people's right not to vote.
The history of the US is interesting. Most people learn the Northern history of the US. The US was founded by the Pilgrims, the country united as one strong central nation and the Civil War was fought over slavery. I learned a different history in college by a professor who was fired for he taught. The way we learned history was the US was founded as two countries. The religious North, with the history we all know, and the corporate south who is ignored for the first 100 years of US history then villainized for the next 100. The heretical southern history, states that the Southern colonies were founded by stock companies with the goal of acquiring land that could the used to generate resources for profit. Hence the plantations. Originally these were manned by white slaves, then black slaves that essentially saw each plantation as a law onto it's own. The taxes by the British led the states to unify against them.
Early on the proto-federal government would essentially be free to federalize the north so as long as the south was left alone. We did the war and afterwards creative a new government. Before we even had a constitution Hamilton who wanted a strong central and Madison and Jefferson who wanted the South to be left alone started what would be come party politics. Generally this not controversial. What is the assumption was the South would be free to run their states as they were founded, as with corporate profits coming first.
Then the North had buyers remorse when Britain came back again and nearly seceded to return to Britain rule as the strong central rule supported their ideals and a King would provide less conflicts than a congress. The country again rallied together under the assumption after the War the north and south could run as the states saw fit. So we did the second war of independence or war of 1812.
So then people demand freedom for slaves following the War of 1812. The promises to the South they could run the country as they saw fit were now being violated. They leave, and the North says no. Not only do you not get to do things your way, but now you do not get to leave the Union either. Essentially the Civil War was the third and final war of independence. The topic that split the union was slavery, but if you stop there it is extremely short sighted. The topic was there was never one united states but two. One was founded in the style of England with a strong centralized government and one was founded by corporations with the goal of exploiting the resources for profit. Following the Civil War the country the slaves were freed and it is taught that the issues from the Civil War were resolved and time healed all wounds. It did not. What it established was a detente or a peace as long as neither side tried again to expand its political reach.
Dual founding theory is considered a Southern theory of the history of the US and in the North even colleges will fire professors for teaching it because it does not place slavery at the heart of the Civil War, but instead a country that regretted unifying realizing that it would be better off as two separate entities to pursue their own visions of America. Sometimes even talking about the Northern secession talks during the War of 1812 draws heart because of its relation to southern history as does the use of white slaves and indentured servants. But we the country was never unified not just in terms of slavery, but as we seen, in terms of social programs, exploitation of labor, taxes and foreign relations. The sole thing that unified us was an unabashed love of capitalism.
Take this theory and apply it the years following the civil war until now and you get a clear picture that this country may never be able to unify, only return to the detente that GOP so cleverly broke with a long term strategy. Once you take the belief that the US never unified and the civil war was the first of perhaps a series of unification battles we will face what is up now becomes very clear.
Another 50 years passes with the country split in a cold war and the GOP comes up with a genius idea The Southern Strategy. What if they did what the North did for the Civil War to inspire unity by fighting slavery to force the South to adapt to their ways but in reverse. Instead of painting the blacks as the victims they made them an absolute evil that needs to be vanished for the country prosper. What if they hid their agenda by claiming that cannot help people until this problem is solved? It worked and they elected Nixon and Reagan with it. Then Newt Gingrich had another genius idea. What if we first, changed this to fighting the poor and dropped the racism. And second what if we attacked the president and democrats in congress directly. So they aimed high and impeached Clinton. This is the point of no return for the US. Since then, every president has had preliminary impeachment work done against them. Bush for the War. Obama for not being a US citizen. Now Trump for obstruction and even Biden has papers being worked on should he win for corruption in the Ukraine.
As the two countries now left detente and began to actively force change. Here we turn to the turtle for the next great idea the GOP had. Presume guilt of the enemies and tell the Democrats simply they cannot do things. Healthcare reform, gut the parts that will create it. Gun control? Deny it. Replace a Supreme Court justice? nope. Meanwhile encourage attacks on the president and members of the other party. Weaken their strong. Hillary is war criminal and Obama an African.
This paved the way for where we are now, when Trump has perhaps the best idea of the entire Southern Strategy. What if he stopped pretending to be a good guy? What if he told people exactly what he thought. He should not of worked but the rust belt looking for a reason their lives fell apart with the collapse of the manufacturing market and they ate that shit up. He took what Mitch was doing but removed the need to be civil about it. Now instead of the blacks or the poor, anyone who disagrees with your way of life is the enemy. And your vision is the one true way to salvation. It is a simple message, the GOP can now save America if only the liberals will back off. They cannot make their promises a reality a reality because of the liberals. Essentially now we are entering the same situation as the Civil War, but with the South having the power and their view of America actually being the dominant one. And because Trump is saving America and the enemies of Trump will lie about him, he can use the power of his office and the force of the GOP to do whatever he wants and basically no one can stop him.
No clue how this all ends, but America has always been two countries and since the Civil War they had been essentially at peace but slowly the GOP with the South and midwest behind them have been growing more powerful. Now they absorbed the rust belt and threw off the notion that the two sides must exist peacefully together. This will not be fixed with learning to talk to each other and get along. And this did not start with Trump and will not end with him either. We are a country in a second war now but not fighting with the military but with the media and individuals. It can only end when either the country splits or one side subjugates itself to the other as the Confederates did when they rejoined the union. And as can be seen, right now the democrats are subjugating themselves as they waited to long to take the GOP seriously. We could very well see major changes to the nation by the time this is all finished, and perhaps already are as the role of the presidency has expanded farther than anyone ever imagined it could and the checks and balances have utterly failed. Thus far the democrats have been fairly civil but it will not remain that way for long and already they are talking about abusing the presidency for their agenda in the same way Trump has if they ever get it back. But to do that they need to defeat the Southern Strategy. That will not happened while they fight amongst themselves as much as the GOP and lose people to the simplicity of the Southern Strategy message. The GOP worked on this plan for a decade with the GOP thinktanks and the democrats to my knowledge have nothing like them in place and if they did they would not be effective as they are party divided. Could be decades before they can force the US back into detente.
Anyway thanks for coming to by ted talk. God I need to start to sleeping again.

Better people than I have. They are just so damn controversial because you cannot praise the Southern Strategy or talk dual foundry theory without being labeled a racist revisionist or alt right supporter.
Biden fucking fourth in Iowa. Fucking fourth. This is who the super delegates want to face Trump in a likely rigged election. There is already talk about skipping New Hampshire and focusing elsewhere from his team.

Haven’t seen any real evidence of the lowest turnout of all times. Most seemed to think it was pretty well on par with 2016, mine was at least twenty people deeper than 2016 and much closer to 2008 numbers. Okay, that is encouraging... But probably worrying if you cannot rally the base with the "most dangerous man to sit in the white house" in the top job The US tried for mandatory voting a some points. I love your history, it is much along the lines of what I have read on US history. Maybe we get a more objective version as it is not our shame to bear on the topic of slavery. Survivor guilt plays a large part in defining history, it is why the Holocaust is off the table for any sort of debate despite the ludicrous numbers put forward. I do however take issue with how you frame recent history with the Democrats under sustained attack, the Democrats are victim of shooting themselves in the foot. Why have the Democrats become the party of gay marriage and transgendered bathroom as if these were the greatest needs facing the planet? We are seeing the erosion and eventual destruction of the middle class through automation and off-shoring, what is the plan to keep the working man's family fed? A living wage, why isn't this the issue the drum that is beaten all the time, it's not one I necessarily support but it is one that is bound to resonate. I consume huge quantities of local and international news and I see nothing in the policies of any Democratic candidate to get excited about, it is all welfare based which means higher taxation. Where are the big ideas of transformation and reform? The DNC much like a trade union or any government organisation has become consumed with its own petty backroom dealings and power struggles, they have done nothing to demonstrate that they deserve the opportunity to govern... Not that the Republican party has either. Obama was a weak president, he should have cut deals and ceto's bills, but he was more interested in the flowery speeches. As much as Kennedy was a hero of the Civil rights movement I doubt he would have been as effective as LBJ about brutalising people to put the policies in place. On the SOtU address. If Trump did see Pelosi's hand and ignore it, he's a bigger shit bag than I thought. AOC and the others who refused to attend or walked out are at the core of the problem the Democrats have.

Highlight of the State of Union was Trump confirming that prayer would be allowed back in schools. Following Good News Club v. Milford Central School, schools that allow religious speech cannot discriminate against speech from any recognized religion. This allows the Satanic Temple, a federally recognized religion under Trump, to expand the After School Satan program to help schools learn how to properly invoke our dark lord. We been waiting since Trump was elected to bring Satanic prayer to schools. Schools that allow Christian Prayer and refuse to allow Satanic prayer will be sued by a collection of groups.

Why have the democrats become the party of social justice? Imagine you were the democrats for the last 20 years. You pass a massive healthcare reform law, but the key part, government negotiation of health care costs was gutted, trashing it. You try to pass gun control, and it turns out that skyrocket sales of the weapons you wish to ban to the point where a ban is nearly impossible now. You try tax corporations but see the largest tax cuts in history under your watch. They are literally powerless to make the change they were pushing for. So what they can they change? Things that do not require new laws. Fight for identity politics as that change only needs people's views to change. Since they were powerless to make the changes they desired they found changes that they could make.
As for living wages, the people who fund both parties oppose a living wage. The opioid crisis destroyed America, and democrats cladly took money from the companies that made it happen. The entire rejection of socialism is because the corporate funded democrats are terrified of losing their own wealth to the tax cuts people like Bernie want. Democrats look at the south as uneducated and small minded, but the towns are fucking devastated in some places. Meth ripped apart the poor south and where I lived in Georgia for a bit you would drive through towns that were abandoned with people trying to live in collapsing houses. Both the democrats and republicans are completely fine with extreme amounts of inequalities. The democrats just want the cut of the of the top 25 percent to be closer to 90 percent of the wealth instead of 99.
The greatest obstacle tough to things like a living wage and why the DNC fights for a centrist party is many liberals blame the poor for being poor. Look who speaks for the underprivileged. Usually it is upper middle class white women. Most liberals though want to help the poor but refuse to make meaningful sacrifices to do so. They may give money here and there, but they will almost never give the money directly to people who need it. Because those people will just spend it on drugs and liquor. In most liberal cities homeless people have huge encampments. But the thought of letting a homeless person live with you to get them out of the cold would never cross their minds. The truth is we like inequality as if we are better than others it means we are doing well. Also most people do not have contact with the real poor, particularly liberals. I mostly lived in low income housing and many of my college friends would not want to come to my place because it was in a dangerous part of town. People at UNC were shocked I was happily living in the worst part of town because the rent was the cheapest.
The whole situation is just fucked up. So liberals to hide the fact that they actually like inequality find other shit to blame it on. It is racism, it is sexism, it is discrimination and small mindedness. But they will never admit perhaps it is just their greed and classism that is the root of all these problems. This country was founded on the notion of US vs Them and we internalized it so much that we cannot even see how this defines so much of American life anymore.
And this is what people REALLY fear about socialism. Socialism exposes this by trying to create a society of just us. But to become a society of just us we must all be equal and that means sharing equally what we have. But most liberals have long benefitted from inequality and do not want to give up what they feel is rightfully theirs that was taken from a long history of exploiting others. They say in Fight Club it is only when you lost everything you are free to do anything. But to really see how the poor live, people would need to give up everything and live in this world, and this world terrifies even people who say they want equality. It is good enough for us to live in, but not for them. They have a need for money that we poor do not have and they will not part with that money or what it buys to be truly equal.

In all seriousness, I think Pelosi just lost the Dems the election, well put the final nail in the coffin From a theological perspective, Satanism is weird. Satan is not the master of hell, he doesn't particularly want to go there either. Not that I believe in Eternal Conscious Torment as a concept anyway.... Neither do I think the Christian view of sitting on a cloud playing a harp is correct. Judgement equals the second death and nothingness. I also think that there is no place for religions in schools, but neither is there a place for political and social theories such as gender studies that have no basis in science. Indoctrinate your children at home and leave schools for education in proven principals.

Anyway, Trump is gonna win again, I would bet the farm on it. The Democrats screwed the pooch big time with a completely half-assed impeachment inquiry and even more half-assed impeachment articles. An impeachment I will add that has been nothing but a boon to the President, every relevant poll number shows it. The shot of Speaker Pelosi tearing up the State of the Union address was icing on the cake. This time next year not only will Trump still be President, I wager we will have a new Speaker of the House as well.

You have to admire his consistent moral stance whether you agree with it or not. He came out and said Trump was not fit for office before the election. I am pretty sure that unless Trump is eventually impeached for something truly horrific that this ends him as a Presidential candidate forever. This Impeachment proceeding was a farce, it can all be laid at Pelosi's feet who announced the impeachment before transcripts of the call even were released. The DNC is getting high-jacked by rabid lefties much in the way the Tea Party did to the Republicans.

Mittens is still scum as far as I am concerned. I remember 2012. He is preparing to take over the party post Trump. Everything he does is calculated. If he REALLY wanted to impeach he would have pushed for witnesses and a longer trial. What he is doing is genius. There are those in the GOP who do not Trump and the Tea Party that dominates them and he knows that there are those in the left that do not like the rise of socialism. He is hoping he can run as a moderate republican and unite those groups. I assume he will revive Bush Sr's kinder gentler America stuff and run on a return to traditional politics ala Reagan's Time of Choosening speech. He will offer the GOP a chance to take the moral high ground again and many will eat it up. Since the 2024 candidate are extremely weak, he has a chance of beating them both. Don Jr will be loved by the people, but the lack of any political experience will not sell him well to the crowd who wants a real politician as president again. Pence establishment people love but the voters do not care about him at all. Mittens can be the middle there too. If he can pick up democrats who are sick of the weird shit their party focuses on he could have a shot beating Don Jr. And Mitt knows he has one or two more shots at becoming president, something he tried to do for the past few decades so it is now or never. He also knows if he fails, he may be able to become speaker of the senate and replace Mitch when he enters hibernation.

Romney would have won against any other candidate other than Obama in 2012, especially Hillary. People weren't ready for a Democrat in the White House... Quite... but Obama was a fantastic orator and a terrible politician... In a world seeking some hope, that is what they voted for and if Obama was white I don't think the message would have had the same broad appeal. I cannot see him getting the Republican nomination ever, his move plays great among swinging voters, but good like with the hyper-partisan base that will label you as a traitor to your party and country. Speaker I could totally see and that might be his game.

There is a theory that many of the GOP desire to go back to pre-racist days. For Romney to win that group will have to be bigger than the Trump base. With the why the US votes, the elderly and upper class have a lot of power in that they vote more than the poor, so if Romney can court them with dreams of Reagan, despite Don Jr being the most popular, he can take the nomination because most of the poor in the US do not actually vote. For people under 45 about half vote. For those over 65 about 75 percent vote. Playing this demographic is how he could take the win. Moreso we seen that Trump voters are mostly uneducated. Here 40 percent of the less than college group while 70 percent of the college or more demographic vote.
The key to really understanding the US elections is to know what groups actually will show up at the polls. The poor white base that is most loyal to Trump is one of the least likely to vote. Moreso in regards to primaries where as your average elderly businessman will vote almost every year. Mittens has a real chance at the nomination. Despite disagreeing with everything Trump has done he is still one of the most powerful people in the Senate, has name value from the Obama election and can quite likely take the Christian base (an extremely large voting bloc) from Trump who would back a mormon over someone shits on Christian values.

I don't think you will see a shift from the right at any stage on tough borders if that is what you refer to as racist. The whole open borders attitude of the left is massively self-defeating, yes Mexicans vote Democrat, but at the cost of the swinging voters. This is why the move of the Democrats further to the left is insane with most people being essentially centrists. Strict immigration control and strong borders is not a right-wing issue it is a centrist policy that should be at the center of the Democrat platform. How can you advocate for workers when you support undocumented workers flooding the market in the Southern States. People think Bernie is electable when he wants to withdraw everyone from the Mexican border, decriminalize illegal immigration and abolish ICE? Who honestly thinks this is a good idea except for Communists?

Yeah, it's a real shit show, conservatives not only rally around but defend at every turn a corrupt moron, because as long as their party wins, fuck literally anything else.
Then dems are just a bunch of fuckwits pulling the same thing, trying rushed half-measures to bring an end to his bullshit, which only emboldens the other side because it's yet another victory for the Trumpster fire. Republicans were never going to impeach no matter how out of line extorting a foreign body for personal gain is for a sitting president, the dude was elected after being on tape boasting about the sorts sexual assaults he tries to deny, you think they care about some piddly shit like that? Should have focused on the optics of it rather than taking an action that never had a chance in succeeding.
All of 'em are more concerned with a pissing contest rather than running the country.
