Wasn't it a liberal president who led the Greatest Generation to beat Nazi ass to free Europe while also kicking butt in the Pacific to bootstrap ourselves out of the Great Depression? You mean the US President that sat on his ass until Japan blew up a huge chunk of his forces in one of the greatest acts of gross incompetence in military history? Yeah, that one!

Already being revealed a mess of conflicts of interest in the way the bailout money is being used. Companies around the administration are getting funds, despite the ban on them doing so. Plan is to deny checks to most poor and retired Americans as well as it is now linked again to tax returns. Still fighting oversight to see the bill is enforced as written too.

Voting from home is an awful idea anyways. It's actually not, the idea that we cannot tether a government ID to a cell phone number shows how arcane the government's grasp of technology actually is. One of the few benefits of the Coronavirus is it is dragging society to changes that we should have had years ago, but are being forced to out of necessity. I am going to make a thread about it. I support voting from home a la absentee but absolutely, completely, COMPLETELY disagree with tying an ID/phone number to logging in to vote.
Because now, no matter how anonymous they promise it will be there's a digital trackable footprint of how you voted.
And after that last leak, I couldn't help but notice you voted for the other person in the last election, comrade!

Candidate is already chosen. In theory. In practice the party is still split so the sooner they just announce Biden is the pick the better. Pretending Bernie still has a chance and letting things drag on is not good for anyone. Assume Bernie locked them in place as he will likely sue if they just declare Biden the pick without waiting for primaries. This should make it twice that Dems lose then claim gross incompetence as the reason. Cumeo is looking like the 2024 person right now.

^^^^ Which is why I can not stand liberals and lazy people. Because all they do is whine and moan and expect everything handed to them. Fuck that noise. Unlike Republicans who do not fund anything then tank the country due to "unexpected" events that require taxpayers to bail them out. But liberals are the lazy ones who do not believe we need things like market protections, healthcare or infrastructure. Most handouts go to corporations not people. A person on welfare their entire life will receive nowhere near what a single airline will get from this last bailout or a major corporation got in the last few. Hell could pay off welfare for decades based off the money we gave the 1% in the Bush or Trump tax cuts. But hey, fuck the libels right. What do they know? Lets just let the poor die. Sure they will be happy to give their lives so people do not have to fund welfare and can give corporate leaders the money saved.

Georgia GOP is trying to stop mail in bailouts claiming it would turn the state deep blue across the board. Georgia Sec of State may go through with it regardless as he feels people should have the right to vote safely even if it means his party loses out.

Meh. You’re worrying too much on this. They’re not going to just declare Biden the winner, because everyone already knows he will be. Nobody cares right now and won’t for at least another month or two until coronavirus is over, which will be when the primaries end and Bernies done. There’s too much else to think about than for anyone to get all caught up in a primary race that’s basically over. They can’t even do campaign events, they’re both so old they shouldn’t be leaving their homes again until the Summer at least. And every time someone loses gross incompetence is the excuse.

There's a very real chance that any of the three potential candidates for President could die of Coronavirus between now and then. Also with Biden, if he is smart he won't do anything unscripted whatsoever between now and the election, he's a bit scary. He seems to have the very early stages of dementia

That was the first thing I thought when this hit, that we could have a situation were Pence runs unopposed.
If Biden was smart? Have you see the man? And not dementia, Biden always has been this way, even when he ran against Michael Dukakis in the 88 election. Or the Thomas confirmation questions.
Biden is getting ready to start announcing staff. He pretty much had enough of charades with Bernie at this point.

Biden should only be talking general election at this point. He’s not catchable.
I also had similar thoughts about either Trump or Biden catching Covid-19 and dying. Just one more in the what weird times we’re living in bucket.
And if we’re saying Biden has dementia, what does Trump have?

Not sure what the court challenge is given the state sets the means of the primaries. Only the general election is in the constitution. Almost every other state has pushed the primary until June.

So several friends of mine applied for those small business loans from the stimulus. Common belief is without connections the average small business cannot get one. So far in a small business facebook group about 50 people applied for them, all qualifying, and not one received one.
Next stimulus is starting talks at another trillion before lobbying influence.
Of note here is better safety supplies for frontline workers and a second payment round of bailout checks. This one should be targeted a lot more at healthcare workers though.

Well Kid, democrats are pushing a hazard pay raise for you. Comes out to about $13 an hour and lasts the duration of the year up to $25000. Would go to anyone considered essential.
Will not likely leave the Senate because of the South where that is twice minimum wage, but it is on the floor now.

The Senate may have reached a new low. Mitch want to get more money to businesses and Dems demand that the pay raise for frontline workers be attached. GOP, still pissed about unemployment benefits and direct payments, strongly opposes this as frontline workers in the South will see their pay tripled, making it hard to justify dropping back to 7.25 after the crisis. So rather than vote, looks like the plan is to say things are too dangerous right now to be in the Senate, and any form of remote voting too risky, so see you all when this blows over and hope to wait out the economic closure so a bill to give extra pay is no longer needed. Businesses do not need that extra money that badly it appears...

So how long until we see riots in the USA? No Trumpux and an increasing death toll is a worry for your civil unrest. I saw photos of some high end boutiques that have already boarded their windows in preparation.

The days of riots in the US are over most likely. The LRAD sound cannon is something most major cities have and will stop a riot dead in the tracks. The people exposed to it when they cleared the occupy wall street movements said it was hellish. Coupled with gas police have shown extreme efficiency shutting down modern riots. Besides papa Trump can quell most riots just by telling people not to. A serious riot during a shutdown would be dealt with super aggressively and decisively. Also frankly, too few in the US have any idea how to riot. They basically just loot. The whole fire in the streets shit is super rare. It took basically a gang war to start the last major riot in the US when the Koreans went after the black and hispanic gangs in LA.
The second an areas is considered a disaster area however, then looting becomes a means to survive and people will strip the region bare. But the US will reopen the economy and let people die before they let people loot a city.

But the US will reopen the economy and let people die before they let people loot a city. Wait, I want to know more on how riots start and how they're supposedly successful. Successful riots IMO are shit like Kiev where riots literally take part of the city over from the police. In the US very, very rarely do rioters ever gain control. And it is in the differences in how we riot. We riot by chanting and gathering. Sometimes throwing things. Look at how Europe riots though. They break out fire and molotovs fly. The LA riot is interesting as the narrative greatly differs between the popular narrative and that of the black people who live there. Most media you read talks about the Rodney King verdict but what started the violence was an ongoing anger not just at that but massive racial tensions between the black community and the Koreans. The Koreans who owned most of the stores in the areas treated the black community as thieves (which many were) and a few weeks prior one store owner killed a teenage girl who they thought was stealing orange juice. She has money in her hand when they shot her in the store. The store owner got probation and a small fine. When King got off people saw again, in LA it was legal to attack and kill black men so they had it and took their frustrations out on the Korean stores. Meanwhile the Koreans for years were sick as fuck as the black community routinely robbing their shit and started to stockpile weapons. So when a little anger lead to a group taking the shit they wanted and the Koreans come out with fucking uzis shit just hit the fans. The people ran off, but ran off pissed while the Koreans store owners and staff did not want a bloodbath so held their fire as the black community just starts to destroy their stores and anything in their way. LAPD essentially sat out the first day and let the two groups go at it. Amazing butterfly effect of a small group of people just snapping and the whole city getting caught up in it. Good article on the riot: www.npr.org/2017/04/26/524744989/when-la-erupted-in-anger-a-look-back-at-the-rodney-king-riotsBest source for shit on the Riots really though is Uprising the documentary where they interviewed all the rappers from that area that made it big. They really get into the tension and how this was a long time coming because essentially it was a crime punishable by death to be black in LA. Also one of the few sources that shows that racism is not white vs black as the media oftens makes it out to be. Believe this is it. Footage on youtube of the Korean perspective too. Note though, not one riot in the past 100 years at least has been "effective." Nothing changes from the riots. The race riots hindered equality efforts, draft riots did not stop the war, labor riots did not get labor rights, anti-globalism riots do nothing to stop globalism, ect. European riots and Hong Kong riots meet the same fate. The only riots that seem to have been effective were in the Middle East, but those had paramilitary backing and at that point it ceases to be a riot and becomes a revolution. Riots it seems by definition are doomed to be unsuccessful. Modern US history and European history is not my strong point though so maybe I am missing stuff. Civil unrest is something I always wanted to read more about but most of it focuses on the labor riots of the 1800's.

Ah here is the Korean side of the LA Riots. Very short since no one really cared about them. Shows some of the Korean store owners trying to defend their stores while the black community was essentially burning Korean stores.

And the inspector general in charge of making sure the money in the corporate bailout was properly given out within the parameters of the Senate bill was fired by Trump. He replace him with his own person who is essentially changing the way the funds will be distributed.
