Seeing talk about pushing to repeal 18 U.S. Code § 930. This is the law that the GOP pretends does not exist that bans weapons in all federal buildings that shields lawmakers and judges from dealing with people having guns.

Argument is simple, if people have a right to guns in public, the federal government should not infringe on it, and this is clearly them saying you cannot guns on federal property. So there is no reason somebody should not be able to open carry in a courtroom or on the congressional floor.

She's not within her rights at all.  She took an oath to uphold the Constitution.

But she did say her oath was not absolute.  Which means the people of New Mexico have no absolute reason to respect her authority.  Her own law enforcement officials are already saying what she's doing is unconstiutional and that they won't enforce it.

Bad precedent to set. Would mean no limiting guns in emergency situations when this is settled in courts. Which is why people are talking about also trying to repeal 18 U.S. Code § 930 so the next time GOP voters come to visit lawmakers at work, they can bring their weapons and the government cannot stop them with emergency measures.

I don't think this is a correct take, from my understanding that if a state law provides less freedoms than the federal law, then the federal law has precedence

GOP chaos in the House blocked the defense bill from being brought to the floor.

Two weeks to get a CR or things shutdown. Which is what Trump and the Freedom Caucus want.

The Hunter Biden impeachment hearings start a few days before the shutdown date, so it will be curious what they want more, to shutdown the government, or investigate Hunter's taxes.  Because no government means that all also shuts down.

Hunter to plead not-guilty to the gun charge, citing 2nd amendment rights.

He will also fight Congress from legally obtaining his tax records as he is a private citizen and they have no just cause to obtain them at this time. He is also suing the people who leaked his tax records to Congress. The leaked records cannot be used in any legal proceedings.

On orders of Trump freedom caucus voting down their own spending bills to force a government shutdown. Trump wants a withdrawal of all charges, state and federal, and is pushing his people to shut down the government until he gets it. Should Kevin motion to work with the democrats to fund the government, he will be removed as speaker, as will any other GOP member who tries to work with democrats.

Shutdown is about a week and a half away with no real offramp in sight. Freedom likely will not come around as they have cabinet spots, and a VP spot for MTG, awaiting them if Trump wins.

That is a 1951 mile long border. Like 10 million feet. Man it one person every 20 feet would need half a million people.

Cost to build a wall that could stop migrants would cost at half a trillion at least. Then billions in maintenance. This would also require the government taking land from all land owners on the border.

Both of these are very expensive options that will do jack shit given drug tunnels exist all along the border, the sea border will still be open and as we seen with stopping drugs, it is near impossible to do with a border that large.

One question many should also be asking is what is Texas doing to stop this? What is Arizona and New Mexico doing? What is Florida doing to stop migrants crossing the land border from Mexico?  We are a republic and they have a duty as well to take care of this, but instead they cry to Biden while putting zero of their own dollars into it. As long as they are not breaking international treaties they have a lot of leeway. No reason they cannot put their own teams on their own borders. Because when they did try to stop it, the Obama Administration said it was federal jurisdiction, and hamstrung every state effort to control their borders
