They do not really want to fix it, they want people crossing over as they can complain about it when they have nothing else to argue about. It is why they did not fix it when they mandates.

Like their plan is literally just to tell people more they cannot come over, and to send them back if they are here, which is already federal policy.  Most of the shit they talk about is not in HR2.  They will merely add some more people to the border that will do nothing to solve the problem, and little to stop the flow.  And their own people do not support some things in it, like creating a federal database of all citizens to verify people's work status.  Then they want to build a second wall.  Walls do not work as they can scaffold over them.

I do kind of want this to pass, as e-verify can then be used as national firearm registry as well.

The number of people that illegally crossing the border in FYE 2022 was 2.76m. What do you suppose larger ebassises will do for that?

Like we can build the biggest way, have soldiers shoot to kill and put up landmines but it will change nothing if we tell people they can come to the US to make claims of asylum, and the place to make those claims are at or across the border.

Trump tried to build a wall, you can call it a stupid solution but it was an attempted solution.

I haven't seen any moves from the Democrats to curtail the mass incursions on the Southern border at all, so it is a bit rich to blame the GOP.
As an impartial observer I wouldn't be offended if the USA millitarised the border, no I don't think you should shoot to kill but I do think you need to make it unattractive to cross.





It's not a USA problem, the same thing is happening all over Europe at the moment.

The wall did nothing but cost us billions. For 10 bucks worth of supplies at stores near the border they made scaffolding to climb over. Then in other places they just sawed through. Then in other places the wall simply fell over. This is not real border control.

Dems put in policy anyone who crosses illegally gets no asylum claim. The extension wanted is to force them to get asylum approval in their host country before they get to the border to come over, which will allow us to block asylum claims at the border from select countries. GOP against spending money on this despite it costing a fraction of what a second wall will.

Cannot militarized the border without allowing force. Otherwise you just walk by. If you want a to create a fully manned order will need a draft as there are not enough guard members to do it. And our army should be repurposed to the border.

Which is where states come in. They can man it with state police or national guard. Texas already is. They cannot operate on the Mexican side, or the border itself, nor use police levels of force, but once they are in Texas proper they can be detained and shipped to border control proper.

What they want to do however is allow police style force, attacking migrants with whips or clubs, and to create their own courts to rule on asylum claims on behalf of the US. They also want to make it illegal for an asylum seeker to enter Texas whether pending review or not. This is the shit getting lawsuits as they want to take control of it on a state level, but funded by federal resources.

The irony of all this, is only 1/4th of all illegal immigrants cross the border at all. Most are visa overstays. But no one seems to care about that as it is not a cut and dry political issue.



And yeah asylum is an international problem.  I follow a bit of Aussielands issues on it.  Also is Florida illegal entry on rafts in the US that no one talks about.  The problem I see is countries saying you can come and make an asylum claim, then when people do the countries now wanting to actually grant it.  That is my problem with this all.  That and the US keeps getting scammed buying walls at insanely inflated prices that do not actually stop anyone from crossing.

I am with the Justice Dems, if the DOJ is investigating someone for crimes related to their office, then they should not remain in said office.  It should be common sense to not allow them to keep engaging in corruption.  But this is now the minority view in the US in a post Trump world.
