Thinking about rad's post in the Negativity thread and I definitely feel like fans take this form of entertainment way too seriously. I think there are times where fans just watch the show and if it doesn't appeal directly to them they'll mock it and miss whatever point the show is making. With that said, I hate it when you get an angle like the SmackDown hacker or they start randomly pushing somebody and they end up disappearing off television for no good reason. Even if I don't like the angle, I'd love it if they committed to it and hey if it bombed or whatever, find a creative way to ride it out and move it forward. Pro Wrestling television is just too stop start for my liking. My pet peeve is still the same, awful camera work. Raw Underground just irritates me to no end with it's constant camera cuts. It's Pro Wrestling ffs, not Lord of the Rings, these guys and girls are supposed to be excellent performers so let them go with minimal cuts.

What is the idea of professional wrestling? A combination of sports and entertainment, where athletic performers compete in matches with pre-determined outcomes that maximise the entertainment value to the audience. Sounds great on paper. Then you see it done poorly...

Watching The main event of death before dishonor and it had me thinking.
When Wrestlers take a big move and are lieing down in pain - and they adjust their fucking tights. You're supposed to be hurt Flamita, if you're so hurt how do you have the cognitive ability to adjust your tights, you shouldn't even notice they're not perfectly sorted, because you're in pain. I don't believe your sell job if you're adjusting your tights instead of selling your pain

Dick and nip slips are more than half the reason I've paid attention to actual matches since I was a teenager.

I HATE it when play-by-play guys call the match before it is over. We have a new champion! no, we don't. Stop trying to oversell in this situation.

taking turns. In most matches it seems like everyone has to get their turn to dive to the out side or getting their offense in only for the next guy to come in and go on offense, only for the next guy to come in and go on offense. Rinse and repeat week after week.

I feel like I’ve posted these before but here goes: - When a heel cashes in/attacks a downed opponent to start an impromptu match without the face consenting. Why check if wrestlers are ready to go at the start of other matches then? Besides it gives the babyface more sympathy when they are beaten down but still willing to take on all challengers. - The downed wrestler not turning their shoulder when they are in a hold on the mat, your shoulders are down and a good ref should be counting. Shitty kick-outs that are meant to be at 2.9 but end up being at 2.999 or even 3.01 (whether due to laziness on behalf of the wrestler kicking out, improper weight distribution of the wrestler performing the pin, poor referee count coordination, or some combination of any of those elements). Totally sucks the drama and fun out of a false finish when you AND THE FANS are like... ok, well, that was clearly three... why's the match still going? It's made all the worse when there's this awkward hesitation by all in the ring before resuming the action. If things get fucked up, roll with it... don't freeze in the headlights. Jesus. This is so frustrating when some referees will seemingly be already on the 2 count the second your shoulders are down and others take 10 seconds to do a 3 count.

Wrestlers hitting a finisher, go for the cover where they face away from the wrestler being pinned and hook the inside leg, telegraphing what is about to happen. Guy getting pinned gets his foot on the ropes. Wrestler doing the pin is shocked and appalled.

I especially hate when wrestlers throw temper tantrums in the ring over a nearfall that has literally never finished anyone ever, especially in the era of finisher spamfests... not putting someone down.

Counting moves annoy me, like the 10-punch. A wrestler punches someone ten times. The crowd counts along. Why not punch 8 times? Or 11 times? Why 10? Why always 10? Why do you give a shit about the crowd counting along with your stupid attack?
Multi-attack moves. Such as the double dropkick or the double superkick. They target the same place, and even in the unlikely circumstance that both wrestlers hit it at exactly the same time, is it really that much more impactful than a single kick? I seriously doubt it. Multi-attacks on different areas, like the Total Elimination, or the BTE Trigger (front of head and back of head) are acceptable.
The "I was that close" gesture. The guy dodged your best move, and somehow you think that's advantageous to you? Because you attempted your finisher and missed? Fuck off. The guy dodging the finisher clearly has the psychological edge there.
Soft Irish Whips. Please make it look like you're trying to pull the guy with force, not just tugging on their wrist lightly and the other wrestler bursting into a sprint clearly on his own volition.

I always assumed it was 10 because if the ref is threatening a dq @ 5 that's usually how far they get. That and anymore and it gets boring. But yeah the counting is always silly especially since they rarely seem to keep up with the action (read: the giant swing).
A lotta little gestures in wrestling are cringe. The belthands signing title change, point to head to show brains, etc.

I will never understand when a wrestler beats another wrestler 2 times in a row clean, without cheating. Yet, the feud continues.

Feel like I've posted these already but I'm too lazy to check: - Tope suicidas on every damn AEW show. Suicide dives on every WWE show. It's always a scramble or 6-man tag match and that spot just isn't as fun as it used to be. Both have admittedly cut back recently but the damage has already been done. - Overselling/underselling/not selling at all. There's not enough Goldylocks zone these days, as too many fall into one of these categories. - Burying the authority of the ref. - Shitty refs who give weak counts. Fucking slam your hand on that mat or gtfo. - Choreographed moves like Taker's "Old School" that rely more on the cooperation of the other wrestler than the one who's performing said move really bother me. - Every finisher/signature that Edge has ever had. Just call it a "hug tackle" already. - Shouting during your promo doesn't make it a good promo, it just makes me embarrassed to be a fan sometimes. Jake Roberts never needed to raise his voice to get his point across. I don't expect everyone to be The Snake, but then again, I wasn't asking for the Ultimate Warrior either. - Not everyone needs to cut a promo nor should everyone do so, especially when that's not their strength. Sometimes the best words are those left unsaid or the story you tell inside the ring. Valets/managers are so sorely needed these days. I don't believe your sell job if you're adjusting your tights instead of selling your pain YESSSSSS. I cannot overstress how much that annoys the shit out of me. Cody Rhodes and his stupid weight belt always comes to mind.... Which reminds me: - Weight belts. They look dumb as fuck (especially on Cody) and I already know you're gonna heel it up and use it as a weapon or vise versa.

I don't know why I keep doing it to myself, but I guess expecting there to be sensible wrestling fans on such mediums is on me.

Great post rad, I especially agree with these two: - Burying the authority of the ref. Sadly this is becoming more and more commonplace in wrestling, including NJPW. In fact I think NJPW is the worst at this. A lot of the Bullet Club heels intentionally bump the ref every single match. No punishment, nothing. There's no consequence to breaking an illegal hold after the five count, making the count basically pointless. Almost never DQ for blatant interference of weapon use. Same problems in AEW and WWE. Assaulting the ref should be an instant DQ, no questions asked. - Choreographed moves like Taker's "Old School" that rely more on the cooperation of the other wrestler than the one who's performing said move really bother me. Canadian Destroyer used to be my worst example of these, but the Poisonrana has overtaken it. The most implausible move in professional wrestling. The wrestler on offense jumps, the wrestler taking the move backflips and spikes himself on his own head.

Why female workers need to do lucha spots.
As an example, Vega attempted something at Crown Jewel with zero momentum coming off the rope and required Piper to basically lift her and carry her through the spot. It couldn't have been more obvious it was a planned and poorly executed spot.

Referees that are made to look dumb in the ring by turning their back on the match, the same one that they are paid to call. Throw the interfering wrestlers out immediately and get your ass back to reffing the match. If they interference once, they will do so again. And again. And again.
NBA refs aren't going to chat with a coach over a decision while the game is going on. Or NFL. Or NHL. Or MLB. Yes there's more than one ref in these sports which is why maybe there needs to be a side ref on the side if it comes to this that the main ref isn't doing his or her job cleanly. Only in wrestling can a ref allow him or herself to lose their eye on the match. You can hear a chair get brought in or used but refuse to turn your head to see what just happened, how does that not get scrutinized by higherups if this is at all kayfabe.
Rick Knox of AEW seems to fall into this quite a bit, same with Aubrey Edwards. WWE has done this plenty too but Aubrey continues to get put into terrible spots where she looks lost and or lost control of the match that heels have to interfere, The Elite being the biggest culprit of this. Throw Callis, Good Bros etc. out and that's it. They don't belong around the ring, especially if they've done this ____ times before.
You're the authority in the ring, use it and be it.
