I love Lion King, but I didn't put any animated movies on my list. Same here, and I erred in doing so. Lion King is a stone cold classic, animated or not, and also has the greatest intro of any film ever. Absolutely timeless.

Circle of Life always sends chills up my spine, though looking at it with adult eyes it makes no sense why the animals are bowing... dude they gonna eat you you stupid zebras.

I’m still 1 for 7! The Lion King is very good, but it never connected with men in the way it does for most people. It’s a solid 8/10, top of the second tier Disney for me.

Lion King just snuck in at 15 for me, the best of all the classic Disney animation, and one of the best all time animated films.

Similar to Jurrasic Park, T2 felt so ahead of its time in terms of special effects. I feel like they did their shit so well, they must've had a time machine. It felt like it took years for another movie to come along to do CGI as well.

Whoa. I mean, I know the 90s are a stacked decade. So seeing a heavy hitter like this not even crack Top 5... Whoa. Probably my fault. I forgot to put it back in when I was re-ordering my list. Would have easily made my top 5 as well, as it's my favorite action film of the decade. I've already praised this film ad-nauseum so I won't repeat myself. I will just reiterate that this is the GOAT action film of the 9i0's and is in the short running for GOAT action film of all-time. Also a strong contender for GOAT sci-fi film.

I didn’t put T2 in because it wasn’t the original and frankly while ahead of its time and enjoyable it wouldn’t make my list of favorites.
EDIT: Although saying that I realize T2 was better than the original. An oversight on my part.

At least give me this: Tyler Durden is not a household name in the UK. Will you allow me that much? If we go by how most people seem to define household name, Tyler Durden is not a household name anywhere and only a very select number of film characters are. To be fair what scientists really thought a T-Rex sounded like wouldn't have played out well on film. It's pretty awesome in it's own right though. That would have been far more terrifying than the unsubtle elephant bellow that we got. Imagine, the water in the glass rippling, and that low rumbling sound that sounds like thunder, getting ever louder and more intense. And that would've been great if it was a horror film, except the T-Rex isn't supposed to be utterly terrifying here but more awesome. The film had to appeal to kids so couldn't be too scary for when he did his big babyface turn at the end to save the humans from the raptors and let out that incredible roar as the banner falls. --------------------------------------------------- If someone asked me what is the greatest action film of all time, I'd say T2 without even thinking. I love saying Miles Bennett Dyson in Arnie's voice.

I had Lion King at #2. Shame on you guys for excluding it. I had ZERO Terminator movies on my list. I was gonna like this post based on the first sentence. But then the second sentence gave me serious pause. Explain. Pure inexcusable oversight like thereallt, or just shitty taste in movies like Lionheart?

I was gonna like this post based on the first two sentences because Kid is indeed not making sense and ruined his entire post. But then the third sentence made me transform into the Hulk and smash my computer screen in rage!
I hate when someone mixes two totally unrelated things in and I wanted to like part of it but can't because the other part is so bad.

I had T2 at 9, it was an amazing achievement and the effects still stand up to this day. I just prefer the darker more horror/slasher oriented original more.

Forrest Gump is amazing , one of my favorite movies of all time and it really irks me with some of the people that think it's cool to just shit on it these days because it beat Shawshank and Pulp. Disagree if you must but that doesn't take away from an amazing story with inspiration , comedy , heartache and triumph. I love the story telling device they use , and Tom Hanks , as per usual is exceptional but the supporting cast of this movie is one of the best ever. Especially the top three of Sally Field , Robin Wright and Gary Sinise. Just remarkable performances by all.
One of the most rewatchable , most quotable and memorable movies of the nineties. Happy it showed up in the Top 5.

I had Forrest Gump as my #3 for all the reasons UT listed and more. It's an important movie. Very few movies are truly 'important' movies, but Forrest Gump is. I think looking back I should have placed it even higher because of that.

I had Forrest Gump as my #3 for all the reasons UT listed and more. It's an important movie. Very few movies are truly 'important' movies, but Forrest Gump is. I think looking back I should have placed it even higher because of that. What makes Forrest Gump important? Longevity, it can stand up against time, but was also significant in the time it was released. You could watch it now and it still relevant because it's steeped in history, even if it takes liberties with it. An important film to me is also brave enough to reflect societal issues at the time, which we see throughout the film through the eyes of complex yet compelling characters with highly quotable and poignant dialogue.
I think important movies change us and the way we look at things. Forrest Gump certainly did that for me. When it came out we were in the thick of the AIDS epidemic. This movie I think really educated some through Jenny's story that it wasn't just a 'gay' disease, showcased child abuse and how it shaped and changed her. It showed the plight of those returning from war through Lt. Dan's struggles. It showed us PTSD before PTSD was on the forefront and while US Servicemen and women were over fighting in Desert Storm and to learn from what we did to those who returned from Vietnam. You can disagree with the war, but don't turn your back on the men and women who choose or in the case of Vietnam had no choice but to fight. I also think it changed the way we see people who are handicapable and how they don't see the world as jaded and cynical as we all do. Once upon a time, we would have put men like Forrest Gump in an asylum and sterilized them. It showed that given the opportunity, handcapable people are capable of great things and most importantly showed us how to be more grateful and how to love one another better.
Financially, it's spawned an empire in Bubba Gump restaurants. How many docudramas can you say have done that?

Well said my sista to the north. You have made of up for your hate of Scream. It can be a heavy handed movie at times but that’s not always a bad thing and sometimes makes it even more successful and resonate with a wider audience. Very few movies can tell such a successful story and make you laugh and tear up on a whim like Forrest Gump and LT. Dan is an amazing movie sidekick as you can ask for. That’s another thing about the supporting cast and characters. You could spend more time with any of them. I’d love to see more Dan prior to Forrest getting to Nam. I’d follow Jenny anywhere inbetween her times with Forrest and I’d love to see a young Mrs. Gump - they are all amazing characters that you enjoy spending time with and wondering exactly what made them who they are when we cross multiple paths with them. Fuck give me a Bubba movie and I’d sit down and watch.

Forrest Gump is a good film, and I like it, but I don't hold it in a particularly high level of esteem. It may have made a personal Top 20 90s list, but not a Top 15. Worth a rewatch though.

Terminator 2 would have had a shot at sneaking on the bottom of my list for being THE iconic 90s action movie.
Count me in with the pro-Gump contingent. First movie I ever saw twice in theaters. Love it. Might have been as high as #4 if I'd bothered to make a list.
