What the fuck is wrong with you people? Top movies of the greatest decade of film and you squeeze Pretty F'n Woman onto the list?
I never totally got the love for this movie , I went back and watched it awhile back and its... fine. I failed to ever get really invested in the characters or the story ... maybe because I heard to much hype before going in or something. Wouldn't have come close to making my list.
Still though to its credit , this was a massively popular film and kicked started Julia Roberts as a superstar. It was also the 19th highest grossing movie of the entire decade - no small feat in a decade that brought blockbusters to a different level and had some box office juggernauts. So credit where its due I suppose but some of the movies this beats out makes me sad.

Pretty Woman is not my kind of movie, but I get why it made the list. But for me the best part was Roxette's "It Must Have Been Love" on the soundtrack.

Never seen this movie, although it's huge in the UK. I kinda have to side with UT, though. 15th greatest movie of the 90s?! With all the amazing movies available? People who voted for Pretty Woman - what's the appeal? Sell me.

Gonna assume a few thought it was a Julia Roberts countdown.

Yet another remake of My Fair Lady, never a thought for my list.

So this made it low onto my list and pretty high on Wife's list. Probably only made it onto mine because of Wife, to be honest. No idea what her criteria was. Usually it's just pure subjective favoritism. Mine was roughly this: - timeless - overall quality - pop culture impact/influence - rewatchability - nostalgia - 90s-ness And to (the other) PW's credit, it ranked pretty solidly in all those categories.

Big surprise. I think it’s a really fun romantic comedy but hard to see it fitting in someone’s top 15 of the decade.

It's not a bad movie per se and was an enormous hit, top 20 in the 90's of highest grossing movies. It's the definition of chic flick. Since it's success, that formula has been reused, again and again....etc.

While it was a quintessential 90's movie, wasn't good enough to make my list.

See I thought PW skewed 99.5% male so this one just puzzles me as the premise seems like such a girl fantasy I don't see how some enjoyed it.
Watch Kid be one of the 4 because he always surprises me with his weird movie takes.

I think I saw it with my parents around the time it would have premiered on TV. Being a kid with a pulse I found it to be quite boring. I agree though it had some good songs on the soundtrack.

Now here's a movie that belongs on the list , it didn't make mine but it was a late cut - I just have more connection with other 90's movies. The Professional is great though and almost acts like a precursor to one of my favorites of all time (Man on Fire). Oldman plays a really good villain , Portman crushes it in one of her first roles and the lead is perfect as Leon.
It's got some great character work , good action , violence and most anything you could ask for in a movie. Okay with it making the list here.

Pleasantly surprised this made the overall cut considering its lesser known cult status.
It's such good fun from what I can recall. I haven't seen it in a bazillion years to be honest, but loved everyone in this. Like John Wick meets Kick Ass or something. Love the finish too.

León The Professional is phenomenal. It's such a fucked up story, yet somehow it works really well, and young Natalie Portman is a big part of that. I talked about this during the parent daughter countdown, so I'll leave it at that. Except for one, mandatory thing.
