I thought I somehow forgot about Forrest Gump but I had it at 11. After reading all these posts I should have had it higher, I'm pretty sure I've seen it more than I have T2. This movie had best picture written all over it from the get go, Shawshank had a shot but no way in that time period did Pulp Fiction have a sniff of getting it.

I like Forrest Gump the book.
I hate Forrest Gump the movie. It's a sanitized version of the book. Low hanging fruit and complete Oscar Bait, exaggerated the circumstances the author put him in, which were remarkable enough. Therefore, I didn't vote for the drivel the movie turned into.

I put Braveheart and Shawshank above it, and in hindsight I should have put it #1 as I've realized it impacted me far more than either of the other movies.

Yeah it's a terrible film, and I hope I have enough to time to write a long post about why I think so. Like, it's one of my least favourite films of all time. Glad to see at least one other voice of dissent before I do so.

Sounds like social suicide, but please post it. Social Suicide? A bit extreme. If you don't fall in line, you'll be shunned. Do you wear a tiny little mustache?

I had no idea it was a book. Perhaps if I read the book, I would agree with you as that is often the case. (Don't get me started on how they mutilated my favorite book into a laughable made for TV movie.) Having never read the book, I can only speak to my own experience with the movie.
I look forward to PB 's POV post. Frankly, I'm glad we don't all agree and share the same opinions on everything, otherwise life would be so boring and there would be very little discussion on this board.

If people can shit all over Scream, and The Kid can admit to not caring for Terminator, PB can shit all over Forrest Gump.

Not a ton more to add to Toy Story because it shows up on any countdown it's eligible for , and rightfully so as its one of the best movies of all time IMO. Also back to back Hanks in the Top 5!
It was a seminal movie , one that truly changed the industry and animation and launched a juggernaut in Pixar. It deserved to place high on the list.

Again, I didn't include any animated films, but if had I this would have placed on my list for sure again for the reasons UT mentioned and more.

Tom Hanks for undisputed Greatest Actor of the 90s! Three movies that made the list , plus a fourth that finished 16th. I don't even know his competition especially when you include other movies like League of Their Own and Philadelphia.

Funny that my Pixar experience began and ended on opening weekend for Toy Story. I enjoyed it and the performances were great, but a 3 year gap to Pixar's second release took me out of the loop and I sort of forgot about them. It's seems to be a daunting mountain to climb and they aren't a real priority for me to catch up on. Tom Hanks for undisputed Greatest Actor of the 90s! Tom Hanks for undisputed Greatest Actor of the 90s! It ain't even close either. Back to back Best Actor wins for Philadelphia and Forest Gump. then throw in his other film credits like Apollo 13, Saving Private Ryan, Toy Story, Sleepless in Seattle, A League of Their Own, and I'm pretty sure I'm leaving some out.

This, after the fact that the first two movies he did that decade bombed big time (Bonfire of the Vanities, Joe Versus the Volcano).

I love Denzel but not sure he quite reaches the levels of Hanks in the 90s. A League of Their Own Sleepless in Seattle Philadelphia Forrest Gump Toy Story Apollo 13 That Thing You Do Saving Private Ryan You’ve Got Mail Toy Story 2 Green Mile Even his lesser hits or rom coms are beloved moves or cult favorites. That is an incredible run for a single decade.

Forrest Gump is not only a stupid movie but one of the most boring wastes of time I have ever experienced.
Toy Story is great, even if it is placing for the thousandth time.

LIFE IS LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATES; NEVA KNOW WATCHA GONNA GET HAHAHAHAH SO CLEVER
I've got a better one. Life is like my ass; you never know how much shit is up in it until it comes exploding out.
Seriously though, it is not smart or funny in any way. Is it supposed to be cute? I don't get it. Life is like a present; you never know what's inside! Life is like a jigsaw puzzle; you never know how it's going to fit together! I could do this all day.
That line personifies the entire movie. It is 100% full of dumb, shallow pseudo-intellectual nonsense that has no value and is not enjoyable in any way.
Tom Hanks fucking killed it as always. The movie probably would have gained no popularity whatsoever if it wasn't for him. Doesn't make me suddenly interested by anything that happened though. Dumb movie. Dumb premise. Dumb, obvious point. The ONLY Hanks movie I do not like. A grey mark permanently etched into the legacy of one of the most phenomenal actors of all time.
Tell me otherwise.
