Might as well kick this off with the pre-season nearly done. Regular season kicks off in a little less than two weeks and this Leafs fan is very excited. I forgot what it felt like to be excited about a season of Leafs hockey. Here's hoping the team stays healthy and exceeds expectations.
How's your team done so far? What do you expect of them in the upcoming season?
Also, since we like to have little challenges like this, lets get a season-long game going. Fill out the following if you're so inclined:
Regular Season Predictions!
Metropolitan Division Winner: 2nd place: 3rd place:
Atlantic Division Winner: 2nd place: 3rd place:
Central Division Winner: 2nd place: 3rd place:
Pacific Division Winner: 2nd place: 3rd place:
East Wild Card #1: East Wild Card #2: West Wild Card #1: West Wild Card #2:
Who scores the most goals? Who ends up with the most points? Which goalie has the most shutouts? Which coach gets fired first? List at least one bold prediction for the regular season: Add any predictions you want to add:

No Jets making the playoffs? After we had the second most man games lost to injury last year and your precious Leafs had the healthiest season on record? I'll show you when I do my predictions. Welcome to the draft lottery, dinkface.

Hockey is my favorite sports in terms of what it offers overall. From the gameplay on the ice to how the players interact with each other. I feel like they show the best balance of talking the game seriously but not being overly sensitive and pretentious
Will the Penguins win their 3 Stanley Cup in a row? Which rookies will make a huge impact this season? Will the Red Wings start n new playoff streak?

Welcome to the draft lottery, dinkface. I have them coming close to a wild card spot but not quite making it. I wanted to go with my bold prediction of Arizona making the playoffs. Keep in mind I'm probably wrong and the west is a crap shoot every year and even in my rankings I'd have Winnipeg right behind Arizona by only a couple points. I would have them finish ahead of Chicago even.

Which rookies will make a huge impact this season? Will the Red Wings start n new playoff streak? Will the Penguins win their 3 Stanley Cup in a row? They have a very good chance of hitting the 3-peat. They obviously have the talent to do it and if everyone stays healthy there's no reason why they couldn't win the East this year and make the finals yet again. Which rookies will make a huge impact this season? I don't really know any rookies other than the ones drafted at the top of the draft, and I'd say the dude in NJ is already making a name for himself (even though I can't remember what it is). He scored a really nice goal last week. My attention is on the sophomore years of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and (to a lesser extent because it's only 'technically' his sophomore year) William Nylander. Those 3 have been lighting it up in the pre-season and I can't wait to see what they do this year. Will the Red Wings start n new playoff streak? I don't think so, but I only have last night's game with Toronto to go off so who can really say? To me they looked slow and got out-played by Toronto for the most part, and if they can't hang with a team of young kids that is out to prove they're a threat and a consistent playoff team, then what chance do they have?

The Leafs are making the playoffs, Foos! Accept it!
So Jagr is a Calgary Flame for 1 yr/1 mil. Thoughts?
I personally hope he plays 25 years even then calls it quits.

Penguins threepeating isn't something I see happening with their current center depth. McKegg and Rowney isn't on the same stratosphere as Cullen and Bonino. They were the key piece to alleviate lesser pairings for Crosby and Malkin. Although, I would LOVE to be wrong this time as I called the back to back win.
Jagr back to Pittsburgh at the deadline pls. They have zero room for another RW but that won't stop me from wanting him.

What happens if there's an Auston Matthews and Morgan Reilly injury at the same time? You that deep at centre and D to overcome that? I figure since nobody on your team was injured last year, you're due for some regression. Don't worry, you'll finish 9th in the East.

Pouliot was moved out for a fourth round pick. What a waste of a draft pick by Shero, and even a waste of talent. The kid is too far into his head at this point.

You got a prospect and a draft pick back, so at least you were able to recoup something. Going to be missing tonight's game due to a previous commitment. Hopefully it works out like last October with the Leafs going up 4-0 and losing 5-4. That was a fun game.

I felt like the Jets were the aggressors in the 1st period but couldn't capitalize on the Maple Leafs penalties. Toronto scores the 1st chance that get and the floodgates open.

Probably a good thing I missed this game!
So clearly the Jets fixed their goaltending with Mason, improved their penalty kill by dressing losers like Tanev and Matthias instead of skilled players like Petan and Connor, and fixed overall defensive issues.
Fantastic!

To be fair, the Leafs were under siege in the first period with all those penalties. While Andersen shut the door, the quality of shots he faced weren't all that great. The Jets offense could've put it away early, but didn't. Getting just one power play goal could've changed the outcome.

That game was won by Freddy in the 1st period. The Jets could have very easily been up 5-0 after the 1st. The Leafs looked lost on defense and took, what, 5 straight penalties before the Jets got one? And most of them were idiotic.
Andersen had Trouba and Wheeler teeing off on him and managed to save the game. Leafs forwards took it from there.
The Jets are better than that and will straighten out. Mason will remember how to goalie or they'll stick in H-Buck and he'll steal the show. Winnipeg doesn't need to freak out yet.
Loved the game though, obviously. Leafs off to a great start. Keep it up!
