You know what would be super? If the league figured out what the fuck goaltender interference is.

The entire coaches challenge is ridiculous. There's zero consistency with the goalie interference calls, and the skate in the air offside challenges are ridiculous because it doesn't impact the play in the least. Just a long history of NHL screwing up their rules and do their best to take even more goal scoring out of the game. Zappy, what would you like to see with the Rangers? Blow it up? When you say fire sale, do you mean more than the guys on expiring contracts (Nash, Grabner) or do you mean other vets that would fetch a better return like McDonagh, Zucharello, Krieder (if healthy)? Depending on ask price, I would love Nash or Grabner on the Jets for a playoff run. Haha...I'm talking about a playoff run for the Jets. That's crazy.

The league needs to get better at judging what is or isn't goalie interference. There were some that clearly was, that still were goals. And those that weren't, or was very minimal, and they were disallowed.

I also agree with the goalie interference and challenge. A hair offside disallowing a goal is ridiculous. Only if it is obvious, but the linesmen get it right anyway. The window is closed it was a great run they got really close there is no shame in that at all. Nothing is worse for a team than being in mediocrity. You get bad playoff matchups and garbage pick selection. Rick The Dick has great value right now. Its time to get rid of him while he is hot. As much as I love McDonagh there is no point of keeping him here if the Rangers are trading everyone else. Kreider has not proven enough during his time here. More of a top 9 player than a top 6. The only player I would keep is Zibanejad due to his age. If Lundqvist wants to get a Cup else where go for it. He deserves it and will be beloved by this city no matter what happens.

Henrik isn't going anywhere with his age and salary. What kind of package do you think Gorton is looking for with Nash Zappy? What about Grabner? I'm more interested in him, can definitely help out Jets PK.

I would be shocked if either of those players got a first rounder back. 2nd and 3rd picks hopefully. They would give an immediate boost to anyone's penalty kill.

I'd give you a 2nd + 3rd for Nash and Grabner Zappy. Keeping Wheeler at centre, here's how I'd roll my healthy Jets after that trade: Ehlers/Scheifele/Laine Nash/Wheeler/Perreault Connor/Little/Grabner Copp/Lowry/Armia Extras: Hendricks/Dano/Roslovic/Matthias/Tanev The other player I'd look at getting is Brassard. He only has 1 more year after this one, so I think the Jets could fit him in under the cap next year. That would keep Wheeler on the wing: Connor/Scheifele/Wheeler Ehlers/Brassard/Laine Perreault/Little/Armia Copp/Lowry/Tanev Extra: Hendricks/Dano/Roslovic/Matthias Either way, this is the year the Jets should go for it before we get killed by the cap crunch.

I think both Rick The Dick and Grabner are worth a couple picks a piece. Can't go wrong with either one as long as Ricks Dick is not expected to play first line minutes and be heavily relied upon.

Back to back shutouts for the Leafs. Rookie defense on fire. Top lines doing top lines things.
What a way to bounce back after the All-Star break. 6 points behind Tampa and a chance to almost catch Boston on Saturday, baby. Weeeee
Please everyone stay healthy. Please hockey gods.

Just get rid of everyone already. No point of fighting for a spot. The Rangers are certainly not good enough to get past the first round let alone one of the top teams. And they still are not good enough if they were completely healthy.
A couple of questionable hits tonight with no penalties. One was a jump off the ice, the second was late, and both principle contact was to the head. This game was on the verge of getting out of hand, but the game was too close, and honestly the Rangers don't have anyone to step up like that on a regular basis.
I enjoy watching this Deanglo kid play. He always has a chip on his shoulder, and will round out into a very good all around defensemen if it is handled properly. I would much rather watch kids like these grow on the ice than a mediocre team accomplishing nothing every year.

Send him to the Jets! Or if you have to trade him to a different team, please keep him in the East. Nashville keeps getting better and better. Sigh.

Brendan Smith has been placed on waivers. Just a nosedive in his performance this season. All of a sudden he can't handle the fast paced game today. Glad to see him done. It's time to give the young guys a chance. See what they can do with a decent sample size of NHL hockey.

Going to bury Smith in the minors for 4 years and eat that $17 mill huh? Brutal. Going to be hard to be a Rangers fan for the next while.

Better to bury than have him on the ice. Maybe a team has interest. I think Smith has a lot of NHL left in him. Just did not work out.
I love the transparency by the Rangers with their letter to the fans. Plonk and Gilmour both free agent signings have fit in wonderfully at the NHL level. They are also defensive partners.
With that said back to back wins for the Rangers including an impressive win in Winnipeg. Fluky bounce by Miller for the winner, but more importantly the Rangers are not giving up and are playing hard.
It's so much nicer to watch young players realize their dreams and play hard every shift and watch them grow.

Yesterday was interesting for the Leafs. They recalled Soshnikov from the Marlies permanently, then immediately sent him to Robidas Island even though Sosh played 3 AHL games in 3 days and had 5 points in his last 5 games.
They have to make a roster move before the trade deadline to avoid breaking the rules of the CBA...or something. I was a bit confused by the whole thing.
Anyway...the Leafs have an abundance of wingers and problems on defense. It'll be interesting to see what happens before the end of the month.
And speaking of the Leafs, last night's game...holy hell. That 3rd period, man. So glad they held on. That's a big win for the boys, eh!

It's a stupid loophole in the CBA. Just because he was healthy enough to play 3 games in the AHL doesn't mean that he's healthy enough to play in the NHL. Just garbage haha.

These are dark days indeed. I don't think these are necessarily dark days. If the Rangers make the right moves a ton of young talent including their own prospects should make this rebuild a little bit easier. I believe the Rangers will try to remain competitive no matter who they trade.

The Leafs are on a pretty warm streak right now, winning nine of the last ten. I guess since the Olympics has been going on and taking all the headlines, that all the pressure from the press has sort of waned.

I guess since the Olympics has been going on and taking all the headlines, that all the pressure from the press has sort of waned. Eh, I'd say it's more or less their defense starting to click (thanks to Zaitsev and Rielly coming back) and Babcock not fucking with the lines as much as he was. I get why he was doing it, and I'm sure the team learned a lot from it, but they were getting juggled a lot for a few weeks and it was clearly making the team struggle. I think if those shake-ups didn't happen so drastically and so often during that period, they would have won more games and be closer to catching Boston, if not passed them already. Fred Toskala .. I mean Freddie Andersen has been impressive. Why say this.

Despite the new string of losses I continue to be impressed with the young guns from Harford. This is valuable ice time for guys like Plonk and Gilmour. They seem to be able to be at least top six defensemen at this point. Which translates into cap friendly reliable defensemen.
Deangelo continues to be a gritty defenseman with some offensive upside. Had no problem dropping the gloves with a veteran like Simmonds. Deangelo is really not a big guy, but certainly plays like one.
Halverson made his Rangers debut in Ottawa. Allowed one goal when he was pushed into the net. If that was not goaltending interference then I don't know what it is.
Rangers are saying they don't want to trade Lundqvist. I get it he has been the face of the team for a decade. I think it will be a missed opportunity. He is not going to be happy with 7 goal game. But, he has 4 years left that is nearly impossible to move.
Gaborik seems to be rejuvenated in Ottawa. Given first line minutes with Duchene. He still has his hands and a sweet shot.

There's been a lot of speculation that Erik Karlsson will leave or traded from the Sens. I wonder what teams would be realistic fits for him.

The Rangers and Devils made a deal for the first time ever. Grabner for a prospect and a 2nd.
The Devils get a solid top 9 forward and an excellent penalty killer while the Rangers continue to replenish their prospect pool.
Grabner has some solid stats with the Rangers, however, he does have a lot of empty net goals. But his speed will certainly be a boost to the Devils. Now they just need to get Schneider back.
We shall see the other moving pieces in the coming days. Rick The Dick has played his last game as a Ranger (at least for this season) as he was a healthy dick against Montreal.
I don't think Karlsson is going anywhere at least for now. This type of blockbuster has a better chance of happening in the off-season. With Duchene and Hoffman the Sens could do a quick retooling of their club though.

Rick The Dick has been traded to Boston for a scrub, 3rd line checking forward, a prospect, a 7th round pick, and a 1st round pick.
The extras are more than likely for cap reasons. I don't think Rick The Dick is worth a 1st round pick. He is not a 30 goal scorer anymore and his playoff record is abysmal. But, the price is what the market sets.
The Rangers continue to load up for the upcoming draft.

So Zappy, you must be happy with the return so far on Nash and Grabner. Are you hoping that Zucc and McDonagh are traded tomorrow?
Also, would you be ok with Nash and Grabner coming back to NYR in July? If so, what kind of contract are you ok with? Term and AAV?
