Don't really get this one , granted I don't know the ins and outs of baseball ... especially recently but for only being about 44 seasons , sporting a near .500 record in that time and winning TWO world championships. Doesn't seem that bad at all. Guess some elaboration is needed. I didn't put them on the list, but I think I can pinpoint this to a couple events. In 1985, the Jays blew a 3-1 series lead to the Royals, in the first ever Best-of-7 Championship Series. Had they kept it a Best-of-5 like last year, the Jays would've made their first World Series. And in 1987, Toronto looked to be in the driver's seat to win the AL East. But then they got cold, and Detroit caught fire (Thanks in part to acquiring pitcher Doyle Alexander). Then these two teams faced off in the final series of the season. Toronto came in with a one game lead, and proceeded to get swept, and Detroit won the East.

What? Who voted for the Jays?
They had the “worst to first” season, won two titles (that I still remember because I was 8 and 9 when they happened), had their struggles in the 2000s but eventually pulled it together and had a few postseason runs here and there, and then those amazing series with the Rangers and Orioles. And they have a lot of promise going forward, and nobody has expected them to win it all any of these years I mentioned. We Jays fans know what they are.
I’m really surprised that not only were they in people’s top ten, but finished this high. That’s really weird.

If the Jays make it over the Maple Leafs, it is a crying shame. The Bautista/Edwin Encarnancion days didn't lead to any rings but they did get a whole bunch of playoff berths and some ALCS advancements too. Than the 1992-1993 championship wins which is more than a whole bunch can show. How did THAT alone have them higher than the Indians?
If we have to pick a lowly AL East squad, put the Orioles on here. Had an iron man of a player in CRJr with 1 title to show in 83, had a 90's monster with a young Mike Mussina that was a casualty of the Yankees and have been crippled by inept ownership from Peter Angelos who allowed the newcomer Nationals to take the top spot of DC baseball with a recent title to show for it too. He put more time combating the Nationals in a TV deal vs having a worthwhile product out there for the later half of the 2000's. And they did have a couple of playoff berths with a heck of a pick in Manny Machado before Machado overpriced the demand. Now the Orioles had the worst record in baseball and have spent hardly anything if at all to make themselves anything beyond a 60 win bottom dwelling pushover.
At least the Jays have a future with Biggio, Vlad Jr, Bichette Jr and a couple of pitching arms. The Orioles took a 1st overall pick in Adley Rutschmann(sp) but their farm was neglected due to the lack of belief in International free agency spending to get 16-17 year old kids from South America/Central America in their farm.
THE SEATTLE MARINERS HAVE NOT MADE THE PLAYOFFS SINCE 2001! WORST TITLE OF ANY PRO TEAM TODAY? 20 years of not even making the playoffs? That's worse than the Buffalo Bills! Blue Jays went over them? Nah. I felt bad omitted Seattle for that alone but only 10 spots.

The Blue Jays showing up this high shocked me as well. They wouldn't have made my Top 20. In baseball alone fans of the Mariners, Padres, Pirates, Orioles, Brewers, Reds, Indians, and probably a few others have had it worse than Blue Jays fans. I just assumed RT voted the Blue Jays way too high. But he denies it. Come forth, Blue Jay voters! Explain your bad pick! The Blue Jays did briefly have the longest playoff drought in MLB. Something like 22 years. And they do have the misfortune of playing in the same division as the Red Sox and Yankees. So I could kinda sorta see a younger person throwing them on the bottom of their list. But they also won back to back World Series in the 90s. Only one team on my list won a championship more recently than the Blue Jays. And they only won one. And the team in question was kind of a stupid pick anyway. The Blue Jays also made the playoffs a bunch of times since I've been following sports, and probably had the best record in all of baseball from like 1983-1993, which is also mostly in my lifetime as a sports fan.

Lol just realized I listed the wrong Toronto team.
It was supposed to be the Raptors.
Or the Maple Leafs. Whatever they are.

Raptors are the defending champs! and have been in the playoffs almost as much as they have not.
Maple Leafs probably make sense here.

Just to elaborate, Doyle Alexander was also a standout pitcher for the Jays during the '85 run. lol at the snafu. I had the Leafs at 4, they were still my second favorite team during the loser years of the 80's and became my top team during the Pat Burns/Doug Gilmour era. Gretzky not getting the double minor in the 1993 Campbell Conference final still burns me up, the Leafs were truly robbed that year. Plus it took away a classic Canadiens/Leafs final. Gretzky drew blood with a high stick on Gilmour in OT during game 7, doesn't get called, then proceeds to score the game winner, :puke:. I jumped off the bandwagon in 1995 as they were mired in mediocrity and I was never a Sundin guy. They became interesting again during those early 2000's battles with the Seantors in the playoffs who they could beat but nobody else. They have a good nucleus now with Marner, Matthews and company but I still think it was a mistake to let go of Babcock just because he was old school. Plus like the Flyers they can't seem to find a goalie to save their lives, once they get under the lights in TO they lose their mojo. See likes of Freddie Anderson, James Reimer, Jonathan Bernier et' al.

Nevermind I figured out how to unlock it. Hooray! So until a few days ago I had no idea the Maple Leafs have sucked for....years? Decades? Just goes to show how much I follow hockey. BUT! The Leafs were my team the one time I was into the NHL back during the mid 90s. Thank you, Sega Genesis NHL games. I even owned a Leafs jersey....sweater....whatever they are called in hockey! This is back in the Doug Gilmour, Wendel Clark, Dave Andreychuk, Felix Potvin days. Lemme look up a list of Leafs seasons real quick.... Meh. It does look like they've been pretty bad since 2005. Just a few playoff appearances. And most of them resulting in first round exits. Going back a little further, they made 10 playoff appearances in 12 years. Not too shabby. 13 Stanley Cups! Sorry guys. I'm not seeing how the Leafs belong this high. Aha. There it is. They haven't won the Cup since 1967. Haven't even made the Finals since then unless I missed something. OK. I get it now. Still seems maybe a wee bit high though.

I had the Maple Leafs high on my list. I think it’s from all my time on PW watching the Canadian posters always have hope and for it to be smashed up in devastating fashion. Not too big of a hockey fan, but watching the guys here made me feel for the Maple Leaf franchise and fan base.
Then to top it off, they finally make it high on a list and it gets screwed up from the start! What a mess of a franchise they are. The irony!

I had the Knicks high on my list , I don't know that there is a worst managed sports team over the last few decades than the Knicks who continue to just not get how basketball works and refuse to stick to a plan. Dolan is the fucking worst.
From a bunch of heartbreaking seasons (in the end) because of Jordans Bulls in what was their best chance to win anything , to a overhyped Melo team that was good but never going to win it all - but still captured the hearts of fans because its the best hopes they had.
They belong on the list. I feel for the Knicks fans knowing it's probably not going to get any better any time soon but I would actually like to see them be at the top of the east - I think it would be fun for the NBA.

The Knicks were my #1.
Ewing/Starks unable to beat the Bulls. Couldn’t even get in during MJs baseball break.
Then Houston/Sprewell/LJ was my favorite Knicks team. From 8 seed to the NBA Finals in a historic playoff push but ran into the beginning of the Spurs dynasty.
Then years of hope. Marbury, Francis, Melo. Nothing. Then terrible draft picks after terrible draft picks. Curry being stolen from us by Golden State. The whole debacle with Dolan recently. Then they can’t even win the Zion pick! Not even that but can’t even get the second pick to get Morant. Being terrible doesn’t even give them the chance to draft better.
The Knicks are a mess and it’s a damn shame because they can put such unity to NY when they are a good team. We have become the joke of the NBA when we could be a powerhouse in MSG. I don’t see a future of great play anytime soon and it makes it even more deflating. Hopefully my kid can get a good team in his teen years.

Yeah the drafts too , and then you hit on Porzingis and that doesn't work out either because of injuries and hurt feelings. The Curry whiff. Just too see all the players they passed on over the past few years is crazy. I know the draft isn't a perfect science and teams always miss on players but the Knicks seem to do it every year somehow. This is the team I kind of compared to Todd's description of Sunderland. The Knicks are damn near a G-League team at this point and are a laughing stock of the league but they still have one of the most dedicated and forgiving fanbases out there and sell out the garden. The one New York team I hope can be good. The only one.

7) Toronto Maple Leafs
Their ineptitude on a grand scheme for a certain point was almost Oakland Raider esque. They were the flag bearer of Canadian hockey teams being unable to win a stanley cup in decades and while they aren't alone in the blame(Vancouver's chokejobs, Ottawa not getting over the hump, Edmonton being a shell of it's 80's juggernaut past, Montreal always having coulda shoulda woulda moments, Winnipeg falling by the wayside to get their team taken from them), they are arguably the most popular team in the sport and easily Canada's most popular squad. They had to get a top pick in Austin Matthews and sign Detroit's Mike Babcock to even get them back on track. They were ranked just about right here.
2) NY Knicks
Should be a little higher. They have the worst owner in professional sports bar none who throws fans who protest out of games and will made a big name deal so the Nets or Celtics or whoever can't do it only for it to blow up in their face. He also had run ins with former plays and fans once a year at least. The Knickerbocks have had awful GMs like Isiah Thomas who traded away draft picks for failed reclamation projects, made awful hires for people who just did it for the money(Larry Brown, Mike D'Phoney, Phil Jackson), they had a whopping two playoff appearances since 2001 and have been the utter cesspool of incompetence and they are now a brand that signals mediocrity where not even star talent want to come here and actually save the day and would instead go for the easy way out(LeBron, KD)
The 90's were great but they were a team that was very good but not Michael Jordan great and the times they found a way to the finals they lost to the Hakeem led Rockets and in the lockout year lost to the Duncan/Robinson led Spurs.
As Kid said, you have to go back to the early 70s to even see a title winner here. There is no hope because Stern and Silver outside of the Ewing draft pick have fucked this team over in the lottery punishing this team on multiple occasions to reward the Cavs and Pelicans the love for ratings. All because we have a silly dedicated fanbase that will still go out to games and pack MSG up.
We are about to be on four head coach I believe in 6 years. That is Cleveland Brown/old Oakland Raiders esque terrible.

The one New York team I hope can be good. The only one. Curry wanted NYK but the Warriors picked 1 spot ahead of us and left us with Jordan Hill. Like I said we have been fucked in the lotto. We had the worst pick last year but got bumped to 3rd because New Orleans was losing a star and just had to be rewarded with Zion. Then Silver wonders why the Knicks are a mess and can't attract players to come in unless massively overpaid or if they have health risks(Amare). We picked 4th in the KP draft but lucked out when Philly took Okafor and LA took Dangelo Russell. KP didn't want to build through the draft and wanted a star player or he was leaving and he high tailed it out because he's a coward and he wanted his older brother to be treated like a mega sports agent. Knicks are finally building through the draft but the problem is the highest they have picked was 3 with RJ Barrett who is a good not great player. They need a top pick, they haven't picked at the top since Ewing in 85. 25 years ago. NBA lacks parity, this is why.

People say the Knicks are tanking so good for the lotto to not reward them, well when free agency becomes star tag with stars and you aren't in a spot to better your odds of finding said star, how the fuck can you expect a team to get better? The Cleveland Browns at least get 1st pick and can build that way. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays/Rays can suck for so long but can get the Evan Longoria's, the Tim Beckham's(Though he sucked), the David Price's etc. where they can develop prospects and make one legit go of it before losing out on talent due to money.

Yeah there’s also the Porzingis fiasco too. He was booed by NY when he got drafted and I’m sure that played a part in him never loving NY. Now he’ll always view us as the enemy.
The Knicks are fucked for a decade at least. Brooklyn might give NY some life next season though. It’s crazy because they’ll take over the NY fan base and the Knicks will become the ‘boomer’ team of NY in the future.

The Knicks were my #3. No rings since the 70's, some good teams in the 90's led by Ewing that fell short and then an absolute train wreck after that. They are currently cursed with possibly the worst owner in sports and their management has been a absolute joke.
A question for Blindy though since he is VIRUNTLY against the draft lottery system. Do you think David Stern rigged the draft lottery in 85 when Ewing was drafted?

Just like the Pelicans with Zion Williamson and hometown LeBron to the Cavs and all the rewarding(Kyrie/Bennett/Wiggins, the latter 2 brought forth Love in a trade) of the top spots in the past. Same with the Bulls magically jumping from like 8th to 1st to get the hometown Derrick Rose. When a new franchise like the Bobcats(Or now Hornets) have never picked 1st overall due to the lotto system and were inherited with a bunch of handydowns via expansion draft, something is flawed. And if the Knicks win this upcoming lotto, I will still cry that it's a crock full of crap.
