Arquette is actually super passionate about wrestling. My worked with him a lot in NEW. And yeah, Drake Younger/Wuertz is a very well known deathmatch guy. Your... What? And New like RT's OG FF? I'm so confused/intrigued. Northeast Wrestling. An Indy from cs area that always had names do random one shot shows. Other than Drakes run in pwg he was almost exclusively death match. In what way? That he too liked naked chicken breasts? Super positive, always one of those "Just happy to be involved" workers. Least that's how he came off before signing during that time where workers were doing YouTube shows.

In the end, the Warrior episode just covered the same ground. It seemed like they thought the ex-wife would bring a few new things to life but it's basically what you'd expect - this insecure guy who ended up being unfaithful on the road. The most surprising thing is that the ex was very balanced and shared that her and Warrior parted on really good terms. I thought the angle of the episode would be to expose the Warrior as a massive homophobe who had some skeletons in his closet but it wasn't that at all. It was basically the Self Destruction with the Warrior except with a bittersweet ending. It was like the producers realised how harsh the episode was 90% into the episode and then tried to spin a positive right at the end.
I still haven't seen the North Korea episode yet. I feel like Bischoff did an excellent job of covering that show on his podcast so it feels like treading old ground.

I'm REALLY excited for tonight's episode. I've glanced over some things about Grizzly and that family, but I've never studied it in depth.

You really should watch the Korea one , even if just for the Norton and 2 Cold Commentary and stories. One of my favorite episodes really.

I enjoyed the North Korea one but I haven’t heard the 83 Weeks podcast. It was interesting and a story I hadn’t heard before.
I get that they didn’t know there’d be an A&E biography of Warrior when they made their episode, but meh either way. I feel like there was so much invested in getting the interview with the first wife that they really wound up focusing on the women he was with on the road as the big conclusion. A&E having that video of Warrior apologizing to the kid was the best thing about him last week on tv. It was so wild.
I just thought if you’re going to do 44 minutes on Ultimate Warrior and the dark side of that, you start at Wrestlemania 6 and go from there.

Well after Ep3 ... I can confirm Deathmatch wrestling is still stupid and Nick Gage is an unlikable douchebag. I do find it hilarious Nick Gage is hunting down Zack Ryder. I hope this match happens.

It is money and Gage is learning how to make money these days. Likely will help Ryder a lot to mix it up with Gage as well as he can pretty much beat the shit out the dude.

Dynamite Kid was a good one. Still am okay with giving him credit for what he meant to the evolution of wrestling. Still think he’s an absolute shitbag and feel no remorse towards where he ended up.

Normally I wouldn't recommend Jim Cornette podcasts because they're so polarising but his recaps are really good since he usually goes into more detail and will give you more background into guys. For instance he went a little bit further into who that Snow guy was the Bulldogs ribbed out of the business.
That was a really good episode. When I got into Pro Wrestling, The Dynamite Kid was the cautionary tale on why wrestlers shouldn't be performing too many high risk spots. What you have to consider is at the time he was working, the WWF especially would use boxing rings that weren't padded so for him to take some of the dives he did was insanity. It's why a lot of the older wrestlers didn't work as hard because the mats were just so rough.
The Chris Benoit comparison is obvious, but the wrestler who always reminded me of Dynamite was Davey Richards from ROH. Same sort of love-hate appeal but Richards had Dynamite's unbelievable athleticism but like Dynamite didn't have the legacy he should have. This run Kenny Omega is having should be Davey Richards' but Davey blew it with his attitude and unwillingness to be professional and do what's asked of him. I don't think he's ever done anything as horrible as point a shotgun towards the mother of his unborn child but in terms of careers there is definitely a parrallel.
I still think the Tiger Mask/Dynamite Kid matches are unbelievable and I really need to hunt down that Dynamite/Bret Ladder match from Stampede. It must have been on a WWE comp at some point because I remember Bret putting it over as his favourite match of his career. Bret has really become a Dynamite apologist in recent times. In his book, Dynamite was sort of his rival, the guy he always measured himself against who played a huge part in his early career but really fell off the map in the 80s.
I still want my Bret Hart Paul Thomas Anderson movie which is just shamelessly a Boogie Nights rip-off.

I think all that was valid and interesting. The ex wife still sticking up for him makes me sort of sick , even in the "Rougeau incident" where she says that he didn't deserve to get his teeth knocked out , he deserved every bit of that retaliation after jumping a guy from behind.
Honestly glad too that it was the moment that derailed his career. DK was a pussy and a bully and the minute he got his receipt his ego was so fucking fractured he couldn't even face the locker room anymore and it literally changed the entire path of his career.
And yes wrestling is full of those types , but at the very least people didn't let taking a punch backstage as such a blow to their ego that they let it ruin them. What a fragile flower he was.

At the end of the day, Dynamite well and truly got his. I was watching a clip on YouTube from a Tiger Mask documentary where they did a Skype call and Dynamite was basically a vegetable after suffering multiple strokes. Just started reading his book and I think you'd get a kick out of it Emperor. Goes into detail about his time over in Japan and it's really great insight into what the business was like in the 80s.

Tangential to Dark Side, the last half hour of that Chyna documentary on Vice was heartbreaking and infuriating.

Was posting in the Onlyfans thread I made and just thought, Dark Side REALLY needs to cover XPW and Rob Black. Shit like the Heat Wave shoot brawl, the Messiah attack, New Jack vs Grimes, Black running for mayor of LA, the Black and Larry Flynt feud and Black going to prison for Extreme Associates make this one of the most insane stories they can do.

From the latest episode of the Plane Ride from Hell where Ric Flair who was naked and intoxicated force himself on a flight attendant physically. Oh man Tommy Dreamer. Given that IMPACT had some allegations of sexual misconduct few years back this is terrible.

Obviously that is a truly awful thing to say, but I'm a little bit surprised everyone is so shocked - Dreamer defended Tessa Blanchard and I believe Joey Ryan as well.

I feel like I've missed out on a few episodes, I've only started to watch them as I realised they were being streamed on All 4 (A Uk streaming platform), and a few episodes are missing. Also, is there a way to see those season 3 episodes here in the UK?

Tommy Dreamer was integral to that episode and while he came off really insensitive you'd be deluded if you didn't think his opinion wasn't common in the pocker room. Only one person stood up for the hostess and it was Dustin who's behaviour on the plane was shameful.
None of this is news when it comes to Flair. Why do you think Douglas made a career out of exposing his behaviour? It wasn't a secret and the locker room often celebrated it. It was an industry of gypsies, tramps and thieves and if you were looking for role models you'd be lucky to find 5 guys or girls you could have looked up to.
The industry has changed for the better in that regard but I think using an incident like this to relitigate talent is absurd.
Kind of a weak episode. The incident has been so well documented the only interesting aspect was getting the perspective of the hostess. I like Palaco, RVD and tolerate Dreamer but they seemed incidental to the story. Although with that said it was cool to see RVD babyface himself again. He always comes off really well in shoot interviews and this was no exception.

Why did Dustin Rhodes get a pass? I thought he was one of the primary instigators.
