Oh shit. I just realized Iron Man, LOTR and Dark Knight are probably going to finish off this list which means GLADIATOR is NOT GOING TO FUCKING MAKE IT! HONESTLY! HOW DOES NOBODY ABSOLUTELY LOOOOOOOOVE GLADIATOR?! That movie was fucking EPIC. I haven’t seen Gladiator, it’s been on my ‘to watch’ list since it came out and I just haven’t got there yet lol You absolutely need to sit System down and watch Gladiator and Goodfellas this weekend. One a day.

LOVE Iron Man, was number 5 on my list and no surprise really that it’s here. It basically kicked off the MCU, and brought back RDJ’s career. So of course we have to love Iron Man!
I am definitely expecting The Dark Knight to come next or at number 1, the other movie I am really not sure at all. I’m kinda surprised no Harry Potter’s have been mentioned because I feel like it was a world wide phenomenon that’s still going which is insane, but at the same time there are hundreds of movies way better than it. I definitely don’t see any of the other movies I put on my list to appear haha

It's crazy looking back since was basically an unknown jobber to the general public. Batman Superman Spidey and the Xmen (read Wolverine) were the big names and the core Avengers were barely over. Now all that has flipped.

I just want to note how stupid it’s going to be when two Lord of the Ring movies makes the top 15.. and the best of the three isn’t even one of them. Dummmmb. Iron Man is good. Not great. Kickstarted a franchise so it deserves some love I guess. The more times I see it, the less enthusiastic I am about it. There's 2 spots left?

People talk about Iron Man saving Robert Downey Jr's career.
What was he famous for before that?
Don't remember much about the first Iron Man movie besides it being pretty good. Just remember RDJ stuck in a cave for a while. That's about it.

Just remember RDJ stuck in a cave for a while. That's about it. He was one of the Brat Pack in the 80's and was an up and coming star until he got hooked on cocaine and had to do several stints in rehab. He was in Zodiac, US Marshalls, Natural Born Killers and a couple of other films, but Iron Man is definitely THE career defining role for him. That was the part he was born to play, he looks just like Tony Stark from the comics. Anyway Iron Man is the foundation on which the entire MCU is built upon. Just a great movie that proved once and for all comic books could be great source material.

HEY! I'm finally on the board. Suck it, bodyslam! All the discussion so far has been mostly on point. I was nervous this wouldn't rank. It definitely deserves to be on this list, and ranking this high works for me even if I had it low on my personal list. Hard to imagine the 2010s without the MCU. And that's all largely thanks to RDJ and Jon Favreau absolutely CRUSHING it with Iron Man.

Just remember RDJ stuck in a cave for a while. That's about it. He also had a great bit role in Weird Science and was fantastic in Too Low For Zero, a role that hit close to home for him at the time. Beyond looks RDJ and Tony Stark also have the battle with the bottle in common. I had Iron Man at 13, I also don't revisit it that much but it did kick start the MCU. They hit all the right notes on a pretty risky proposition at the time starting off with a B-level character.

Technically... I'd argue that Kiss Kiss Bang Bang revived RDJ's career, and put him on people's radar screens to cast as Tony Stark.
Just sayin'...
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang should be #1.
(Conversely, KKBB was essentially Val Kilmer's last gasp.)

Zodiac and Scanner Darkly also helped him along the comeback trail.
Also softened the controvery of Tropic Thunder.
Before Iron Man, Marvel movies were extremely hit or miss with a lot of movies like the Hulk, Daredevil, Fantastic Four being downright forgettable. Iron Man set a new standard and helped create a formula that made these movies an enjoyable watch. Yes, it could get very cookie cutter, especially when movies like Thor 2 were coming from the same playbook but it was so much better than those previous attempts. It was a great fit as well because we were ready to see Downey Jr in a mainstream role once again and we needed somebody other than Spiderman or Wolverine to be the face of this franchise.
They knocked it out of the park and the most exciting part was the tease at the end. They put it out there and hell yes we wanted more.
I remember being excited for the Batman/Superman tease from I Am Legend. That paled in comparison to the Avengers and when it eventually came it was so forgettable.
When I think 2000s marvel movie, I still think Raimi's Spiderman, but I can live with this ranking over it.

I had Gladiator, so it’s not my fault. Didn’t have Iron Man, but was an awesome flick, pity Howard didn’t work out as Rhodey, had perfect chemistry with RDJ. The movie that launched the MCU, did an amazing job.

You know what would be fucking awesome?
If The Dark Knight is #2 and we have to wait a whole 24 hours to find out what movie wins #1, that would be AWESOME.

RDJ was always on the map for me thanks to Weird Science and Heart and Souls, glad he is back on top of the world though.

While i enjoyed Gladiator very much #2 movie of the 2000's is WAY too high for it. The film's effects don't hold up very well in certain scenes and some of the writing is cringeworthy.
