Honestly sometimes I give #1 to movies I want to get more points, it doesn't always reflect what I truly think is numero uno. No integrity on PW.

I never vote to skew the standings. I think that’s silly. The Fast and the Furious is going to be in my Top 5 overall I think. KING KID has some weird movie obsessions and I’ve seen all his lists. Don’t come at me bro! I know you’ve never actually voted for The Departed.

Something something RUSSIA RIGGED ELECTION BERNIE SHOULD HAVE WON BUT HER EMAILS. Anyway I voted for Oldboy somewhere between 10-15. Awesome movie, incredibly shot/directed, not much rewatch value though so it fell down. I basically picked my fav 15 movies and ranked them based on how much I could rewatch them, since I liked them all relatively equally.

Love movies, gangster movies, cartoon movies, horror movies. If I love it, I love it. Don’t hate on my list and if my top love movie doesn’t make the list I am going to lose my fucking shit. Greatest love story ever told came out this decade and it better make the fucking list is all I’m saying.

But now that I think about it, my top love movie is probably NOT going to make the list because you’re all a bunch of heartless fucks here.
If a movie makes me cry, then it deserves a spot.

It was the best Point Break remake to date, but I wouldn't have voted for it in the top. Pretty average car movies before they became bombastic action extravaganzas.

I have 2/3 love story ish movies on my list, but I have a feeling it may not be what you are referring to. I cry at way too many movies now though lol

The Fast and the Furious was number 3 on my list. I wasn’t huge into car racing movies when this came out, but I have always loved undercover/action heavy movies so really enjoyed it. Loved the chemistry between Paul and Vin, which is what made the movie (and then franchise) so memorable. Ironically I started getting more into car racing as the franchise stepped away from it.
I still love the franchise, wasn’t super into Hobbs and Shaw though. I miss Paul Walker so much and the send off in Fast 7 still makes me cry every time I watch it. So while I enjoyed Fast 8, his presence was definitely missed. Excited for Fast 9 with the introduction of Cena’s character but I hope they know to call it quits at Fast10 like originally planned and not keep going overboard.

I thought No Country would finish much higher , it made my Top 10 overall but towards the bottom. Still though it's always highly rated amongst PW listers so I thought it was a lock for Top 3 finish.
It's a beautiful movie in terms of cinematography and screenplay - just brilliantly executed by the Coens and the actors all brought their A-Game - especially the top three of the cast in TLJ , Brolin and Bardem. I could watch their cat and mouse escapades all day and never get bored.
It's also my favorite Coens I think , probably because it doesn't scream Coens to me.

I think this was in my top 5. It was definitely up there.
Not just one of my favourite movies of that decade, but ever. It has no business being as captivating as it is, but any time I see it on or think about it, I have to either YouTube scenes from the movie or sit down and watch it. It's hypnotic.

I love the Coen brothers films and while I really enjoyed No Country for Old Men it didn’t even occur to me to put it on this list. Though I did only watch it a few years ago so I didn’t realise it had been out that long.
It’s nowhere near my favourite Coen brothers film, but definitely worth seeing.

I like No Country, but one of the lesser/middle Coen films in my eyes. Didn't list.

Going to an artsy fartsy film school, there were four mega dick suck movies during that time which divided the teachers and students into generally two camps.
The movies were The Departed, Little Miss Sunshine, No Country for Old Men, and Mean Girls. The camps were generally Departed & NCfOM vs. LMS & MG. The pseudo intellectual hard-on wagging film snob boys were all sucking that Scorsese and Coen knob. The smarter minority were all for LMS, but even more so for Mean Girls.
While No Country was interesting, sure... It wasn't the be-all-end-all I had to endure it being heralded as. As far as that aesthetic, ultimately I like Sicario and Hell or High Water better. But man, Anton Chigurh is one of the most epic villains/personifications of death ever... And dude ROCKED the GOAT haircut. EVER.
That all said, if Mean Girls doesn't place ahead of this, I'll feel like the quote unquote good guys finally lost the war.

The original SAW was great , one of the best and bigger surprises I can remember from a movie that came out of nowhere for me. I remember hearing the hype , hearing there was a crazy twist and I couldn't wait to see it. Got it from the store and went home and watched it immediately and thought it was great. Even knowing there was a twist I still never seen that coming at the end. One of the better and more important horror movies of the 2000's so I think it belongs on the list somewhere to represent the genre.
I also think it's suck that this has become a case where the sequels have retroactively hurt the reputation of the original. People see this franchise as pointless gore porn now and while it does devolve into that - the original was actually brilliant , set in a very contained world and well written/acted. As the franchise goes on it does get worse and worse though and I gave up by like #5.

Agreed. The original Saw is a phenomenal suspense horror. I generally have a soft spot for these escape room "puzzle" like concepts in horror, and this is perhaps the best example. Jigsaw is a phenomenal character and the twist at the end is out of this world.
I don't care much for any of the other movies, but I still hold the original as a modern horror masterpiece. However for me the 2000s is so stacked that Saw may not have even made a personal top 30.

I had Saw at 11, it gave mainstream horror a shot in the arm after the dregs of the 90's. Great concept and story and it made Whannell/Wan names to watch for the future, and they didn't disappoint. I watched them all back to back a few Halloweens ago and by about number 4 it starts to loose steam.

Love Saw! I had it at number 7. Really glad so many other people love it and the franchise considering how small of a film it started out as. Wasn’t a huge fan of Jigsaw itself when that was released. Looking forward to Chris Rock’s take on it. Hopefully it’s not a comedy film though.

Absolutely love Saw..even the sequels (except VI) to the point I even have a tattoo of Amanda in the reverse bear trap.
One of the best twist endings ever!
Edit: not enough to put it on my list apparently 🤣

Saw is awesome. For me this is the film that brought REAL horror back after all the crappy CW horror films of the 90's

Loved the whole Saw series, even the later sequels where they were really trying their best to force everything to connect. The OG even as a standalone is respected. I'd have to check my pm, but I'm sure I had it somewhere pretty high. Opening a new tab shows it @ 6, which seems respectable.
Anyone notice anything about the countdown? A lot less controversy and mostly just consensus.

Watched Saw in Iraq. It was Ok. But didn’t think it was anything too special. Maybe one of you dudes can answer me this: why the stupid twist with him being “dead” in the floor the whole time? What did that add to the story? And more so, how did it help his cause? It seemed like a huge shock for the sake of a shock .. and it didn’t pay off nor make sense to me. Maybe I just didn’t get it? It wrapped up and shined a light that everything that transpired to that point and given the fact that Saw was as much if not MORE of a mystery than a horror movie I think it did it nicely. Not only did it swerve us that Zep wasn't Jigsaw the whole time but instead a victim and the actual Jigsaw laid in the middle of a room to get a front row seat to his depravity and games he likes to play. It also allowed him access to the worst of the worst secrets each man had to offer because they were laying it all out there. And then there's always doing it for the sake of it , but when it's that effective and shocking than I don't see the problem with it. At least this one , unlike the sequels was well thought out and connected the entire movie in a nice little thread.

People will make fun of Saw’s convoluted timeline then mark out for Halloween & Friday the 13th.
