We definitely need this thread in here. After 3 weeks in the PW league, I reign supreme. After two close wins to start the season, my lead going into MNF was just too much for Foos to come back on. He almost did with Zeke and Fitzgerald. However, I'm at 3-0 and trying my damndest to get a trade done with Maul, but he ain't answering.
Speaking of trades; I just completed one in my money league. Now I have a 1-2 record and I'm the 4th highest scorer in the league and have given up the most points. Bad luck? I'd say so.
Here is my starting lineup coming into this week, before the trade.
QB- Philip Rivers WR- Antonio Brown WR- Keenan Allen RB- Leanord Fournette RB- Christian McCaffrey TE- Zack Ertz FLEX- Chris Thompson K- Tavecchio DEF- Cincinnati Bengals BENCH- Amari Cooper BENCH- Pierre Garçon BENCH- Kirk Cousins BENCH- Jameis Winston BENCH- Jason Witten BENCH- Doug Martin
So here is the trade I just completed:
I traded: Jameis Winston Amari Cooper Chris Thompson Tavecchio
I received: Andy Dalton Golden Tate Travis Kelce Justin Tucker
Yes, I totally raped him. Right? He really wanted Cooper since the draft where I got him and refused to give him up. He's offered me ridiculous trades for him and even offered Tate 1 for 1 for him. I declined. He's 0-3 and Cam Newton has let him down. So he's been trying to get Winston from me since Saturday. I added Cooper in there to brain fuck him into giving me more players. I wanted Kelce AND Tate and told him I'll take Dalton off his back for Thompson and he can hope for Cam to pick it up. He finally agreed and then I said that I don't want to do it anymore UNLESS I get Justin Tucker in on the deal. Now, that's how you brain fuck a desperate GM.
Well, here's the issue I have in this trade. I love Amari Cooper. He's had two bad games and Denver ain't looking easier for him. He's had 6 drops in 3 games, which brings me back to his rookie struggles. His division is super stacked so I had to do it for the betterment of my team. I wanted Kelce and the 2 headed monster with Ertz. Unfortunately, they both have a BYE the same week, but that's where my secret weapon Jason Witten shines. Now, here's my conundrum for this week.
With 2 WR spots, 1 TE spot and 1 FLEX spot, I'm in a jam.
WR1- Antonio Brown (locked in and have no doubts about it) WR2- Keenan Allen (great match up against a shitty Philly secondary, but is Rivers going to have a bounce back game? I'm betting on that.) TE- Zack Ertz (I love this guy and his connection with Wentz has me thinking Ertz is the Witten of the future, plus they're facing LAC) FLEX- Kelce (right?) OR Tate (#1 WR in DET, but a tough game against Minny), Garçon (have had him dying on my bench all season, but he's #1 for the 49ers), Witten (good match up, but he's clearly my #3 TE)
So who do I start? Do I bench Keenan Allen and go with Golden Tate and start both Ertz and Kelce? Or do I stick with my original plan by starting Allen, Ertz and Kelce?
It's not a bad problem to be in and I could use Kelce as trade bait. Honestly, I feel like QB is my weakest position, but I don't think it matters who you got if it's not TB, AR, MR or Brees. Everyone else seems to be on the same level.
So thoughts on my trade and advice for my starters? Thank you.

Nice job. This PW league is the only league I play in anymore that doesn't cost money and doesn't use IDP. I love IDP leagues, so much better than the team defense garbage.

I live!
Too bad I can't say the same for my team. Just ugh at having high projections each week only for my team to then ridiculously disappoint.

I've gone from worst to first to worst again!
Can me and Lorcurio combine our teams for rest of the year?

I've gone from worst to first to worst again! Can me and Lorcurio combine our teams for rest of the year? Hey, at least you won the Cooper/Evans trade. Amari Cooper has been awful this season and Mike Evans is a top WR in the NFL. I told you not to draft Martellus, though.

The fumble was attributed to my guy, also costing me my win. I just noticed that. Wow. That final play literally changed 2 results in our league. That's insane. The Chiefs cost MikeC the W. Even more insane.

My team is on fire - already 60 points clear of the next highest scorers. The only thing holding me back at this stage is my WR sit/start choices which have been wrong basically every week. Feeling good with the Texans offense trending upwards with Watson at the helm, and the Muscle Hamster back from suspension this week.

Definitely had some unfortunate luck with having the second hardest schedule so far. But man... Blindy 's getting killed every week. Poor guy. I figure I need to go 7-2 in the last 9 to squeek into the playoffs if I'm lucky.

Koos Ice Dragons (4-0) vs MikeC's Masters (2-2) - After a 4-0 start and remaining at the top of the league, I head into a match up against MikeC who's bad luck continues. After losing David Johnson to the IR, he lost (I believe) Greg Olsen as well. Then to top it off, he lost last weeks game on the final play with Chris Thompson being charged with the fumble to his beloved Kansas City Chiefs. Two games in our league had the winner of the game changed due to the final play of the MNF game. Insane. MikeC was on the wrong end of it.
In this match up, I have star RB Devonte Freeman on a bye, along with Matt Ryan. Fortunately for me, I have Aaron Rodgers going into a big show down against the Cowboys. And I was questioned on using 2 keepers for QBs. MikeC will be without Drew Brees and he has Eli Manning on the bench. MikeC seems to be going with a 3 RB group for this match up, while I go with a 3 WR group. My WRs have been my weakest part and with Cooper being QBless, Marquise Lee with Bortles bumming, I'm heavily relying on Pierre Garçon to finally reach pay dirt. Antonio Brown is sure to have a bounce back performance for Mike and he's hoping for Eli to Shepard to be a big part in the Giants attempt to pick up their first victory.
In what should be a tight game, it will come down to the SNF game as I pit my Houston Texans D against MikeCs favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs. After winning my first few games by small margins and pure luck, I anticipate my luck to remain the same while I believe MikeC's luck will remain where it has been all season; on the bad side. I expect Houstons D to get me just enough points to edge out Mike and make it back to back weeks where his favorite team costs him a game. Prediction- Kid to go to 5-0 with a ( > 5 point) victory.
HR's Helmet Rattlers (3-1) vs Locuros Gronk Flakes (0-4) - HR is the king of points so far. Leading the league in points scored, thanks in large part to his draft belief in the Kansas City Chiefs offense. He comes into this game with his star players in some big match ups. His starting QB Dak will be against the Packers in the GOTW and his two Chiefs players will face a tough and alive Houston D. HR has the returning Doug Martin on the bench so far in favor of keeping his two RBs who have kept him hot so far and going with a 3 WR core believing in his catches over a first game start for Dougie.
My dislike for the waiver wire is proven as Locuro can continue to grab the best of the waivers because he's in last place. It's fantasy football and the waiver wire should be used as it is, not to help the shitty squads. Anyways, Locuro is stacked with wire RBs such as Cohen, Smallwood and Latavius who are all on his bench right now in favor of Ajayi, Powell and Mixon. A team stacked at the RB position has just not had the luck so far. With Tom Brady having a great year and Gronk playing great, he's failed to secure a win; largely in part due to his weak WR core. He's hoping Benjamin and Marshall can have big games and/or each reach pay dirt.
Gronk Flakes will know if he has a chance after Thursday's games. If he doesn't get big games from Brady and Gronk, he will have zero chance at the highest scoring team in the league. Although, I believe the Chiefs offense will struggle against Houston this Sunday, HR should still get enough points to pick up the win in comfortable fashion. A great bench for Locuro is not going to get him wins. He should start firing out trade offers and try and improve his lackluster WR core. HR wins comfortably, (+15 points)
Blindys Injury Bugs (0-4) vs Foos Flooseys (0-4) - In the battle of the winningless teams, we get what should be the least exciting match up of the week. Blindys team is probably the worst team in the league and with 4 people on BYEs and not enough bench players to cover, he should remain the worst. He will need to grab a QB from the Free Agency market and hope they have a great game. He's going to need to also pick up a kicker in hopes that he can get double digits or close to it. He's also going to need to rely on the Jets Robbie Anderson in the FLEX spot unless he tears his team apart for the free agency market. However you want to look at it, Blindy is in for another terrible week of fantasy football.
The defending champion Foos has been on the wrong end of a lot of scores and underperforming. With a guarantee win coming here, Foos will be hoping his team tears it up with points to have a better chance at making it up the standings.
Foos is hoping that he has another winning streak like last season where he can make a huge run to the playoffs. He's hoping Deshaun Watson could be his savior. He has the squad, the experience and what better way to start that winning streak then with a cakewalk against Blindy. Foos should win this in a blowout to pick up his first victory. Blindy will remain winless, along with Locuro possibly. Foos wins in a blowout ( < 25 points).
Burning Legion (3-1) vs Cleveland Steamers (2-2) - Burning Legion was one of the 2 teams to win last weeks games on that final play of the Chiefs/Redskins game. Down and out, his KC Chiefs D scored him a TD on the final play to get him those 6+ points which was enough to win the game. After nearly suffering a 1 point heartbreaking loss, Burning Legion limped away with the victory. When I say "limped", I'm talking about the season ending injury to his RB Dalvin Cook. His bench RB is Jeremy Hill and that's a drastic downgrade. That last second win was so big for a guy who is now going to be facing a season of struggling RB play. If I'm him, I'm looking to trade away one of my WRs over to Locuro for some RB help. If it isn't done quickly, it won't matter for this week.
Cleveland Steamers comes into this match up as a high scoring 2-2 team who is coming off a clobbering of Blindy. After that cake walk, he comes into a match up with his kicker and D on a bye. He does have Haushcka and the Packers D on the bench and should be able to easily put together a full lineup for this match up. His uneven play from his RB position has to give him headaches every week. Who to start and who to bench. Will Lynch go Beast Mode, will Murray have a good day or a bad day and should be start Duke Johnson? All tough decisions for him.
Picking a winner for this one is not going to be easy. It really comes down to the RB position and both have issues there. I don't think Burning Legions luck continues on this one as the loss of Dalvin Cook will prove to be too much. I enjoyed being his only L of the season, but his 3 game winning streak comes to an end here. Both teams walk out of Week 5 with a 3-2 record. Cleveland Steamers wins a close one, ( > 10 points).
RT's Funky Bunch (3-1) vs Halifax Explosion (3-1) - They said that Canadians know nothing about football. RT is here to shut that down. The most surprising team of the season continues to grind out wins. His point total is not impressive, but he's been winning the games. At an impressive 3-1 record after a big win, RT comes into this game without a starting QB and without a RB. He has Philip Rivers to relieve Kirk Cousins for this week (looking like my money league squad) and is hoping Eddie Lacy can be a bonafide stud and put up some "fat" numbers for Seattle here. Jordan Howard should put up some big numbers with a rookie QB starting.
The Halifax Explosion was the second team to steal the victory on the final play of the MNF game. Chris Thompsons fumble was enough to switch the game score over into a 2 point victory for Halifax. His hopes for a good week rely heavily on if Ty Montgomery can go. He does have the backup on the roster, but the headache of that is enough to piss off any fantasy owner. With Doug Martin returning, it almost makes Rogers a non play. A weak running game will be his downfall this season, even though he has a stellar WR core.
I'm going to go with RT on this one. The question marks at the running game will be too much to overcome. Diggs is going to be relied on more for Minny with Cooks injury so he may get better and better. Hilton will never reach his peak without Luck and this week just doesn't seem lucky for Halifax. RT with another win to jump to 4-1. RT with the upset, (10-15 points)
Sammys Maple Leafs (2-2) vs Asian Name (2-2) - Sammy is coming off of a loss in the "Battle of The Canadians" last week with very underwhelming performances from Thomas and his RBs. His team looks to bounce back this week. Big Ben is at home and this is the type of game he explodes in. Unless they give it to Bell over and over again and Ben doesn't produce. He will be relying heavy on some Patriots players, hoping Gillesie can get some goal line touches and Brady finds Amendola often.
Asian Name was the second culprit of defeat on the final play of MNF. The defensive TD was enough to give him the L and he now has to come into this game with a RB and FLEX on a bye. He's going to rely on his bench to get him some points, but with a weak bench, he's going to hope for some out of nowhere big games from his players.
This should be another close battle. I don't think this will be a high scoring game. I doubt anyone scores over 100. I'm going to say that Sammy escapes a tight one, giving him a winning record and sending Asian Name home with another close loss and a losing record. Sammy wins a nail biter ( > 5 points)
All performances subject to change on roster moves.

Lol, why else do you think I'm hoarding RB's?
Come one, come all! I offer you a bevy of RB's. Bring me your WR's. Or bring me a keeper-level player, and I can offer tons of depth if that's what you need.

Just one of those seasons for me apparently... My team just can't help but underperform each week.
No Gronk, lack of points from Brady, and TDs for Martin and Brate all point to a likely 5th loss. Disappointing considering I came in 2nd last season and have projections around 120pts each week.

Melvin Gordon wants an apology Kid. What a badass. FINALLY I don't have a player injured and my team actually does something. Can I get more of this please?
Frustrating though, Minnesota is too wishy washy with which QB to choose so I opted for one of the 2016 signal callers....i chose wrong and went with Goff over Wentz. Went throws 4 Yrs, can't win an all. Got ASJ right at least....

I noticed that about Maul, considering he wasn't answering any of my trade offers. We'll have someone to take over for next season, I'm sure of it.
HR, your team is fucking bad ass. The moment I take an L, you're jumping in that top spot. I don't know how much longer my mediocre WR cast is going to keep me going. I'm just lucky to have Aaron Rodgers and two solid RBs. Andre Ellingtons receptions are helping, too. I'd love to face you in the Finals, but I'm not counting out Foos who snatched up Deshaun Watson and stole a victory. He's going to make a run. MikeC had such a nasty team, but keeps getting hit by injuries and last weeks bad luck finish to MNF.
