It's not a new Audi (though it could cost me as much), but my daughter got engaged to her long time boyfriend last night!!!!! They were out kayaking under the stars at their favorite spot in British Columbia last night and there was a shooting star. He asked her if she made a wish and he said I bet I can make it come true and asked her. Perfect. Just the two of them in their favorite place in the world (so far). Man, that's smooth. Well played, king.

From November to March I have 4 concerts I’ll be going to. I’m super excited! 2 were birthday presents which makes it even better tbh. I used to go to concerts all the time. My record was 16 (including a festival) in one year. Just extremely excited that concerts are happening on a regular basis again!
First up is Joji! 😁which System bought me for my birthday, I really enjoy his music and I haven’t seen him live before so I’m pretty excited. I used to absolutely hate him as Filthy Frank so if you told me years ago I’d be seeing him in concert I would’ve called you insane 😂
Second is The Weeknd! By some miracle my best friend managed to get tickets today for the third show in Sydney. Ironically we will be seeing him on a Monday haha I honestly gave up hope after we missed out on tickets for 3 different sales. Again haven’t seen him live so extremely excited especially with what I’ve heard about his shows.
Third is Blink 182!!! I almost saw them live at a Soundwave festival years ago but I decided to stay at the Metallica set instead of changing stages so really excited to actually see them live now! Hopefully they play all their older songs because I’m not a huge fan of the newer stuff but going to really show my age as I’ll be standing for it, gonna get my dance on hahaha
And Fourth is Ville Valo! Birthday present from my best friend and I’ve also convinced System to come with me. Lead singer of HIM - I’ve seen HIM multiple times live and I LOVE them. I have the heartagram on my wrist, I haven’t seen Ville with his solo stuff - so it’s going to be new and exciting in one way but in another way I also get to see the lead singer of my favourite band live again!
I’ve been really depressed and miserable lately. So having these concerts to look forward to is really nice 😊

My busy time of the year is done with (too damn many) fantasy football drafts and family vacationing. My oldest started a new school for grade 1 and French immersion. I'm thrilled to find out it's a split 1/2 class with 20 kids in grade 2 and only 10 in grade 1. The other split class has the opposite split. So I'm assuming that they took the smarter kids from kindergarten and put them in the mostly grade 2 class, along with the two new students (my son and his buddee both coming from Montessori).
With my son having a December birthdate, there could be some grade 2 kids in his class born in Jan/Feb making them almost a full two years older than him. This will hopefully push him academically as I am a bit worried about him being bored with how advanced his math and reading are for being 5 1/2.

I’ve never been a fan of the NRL, but working in a sports bar people would always ask me the scores. So this year I went in the footy tipping just so I would pay attention when people asked the scores.
Tied 1st & won $290 🥳

Don't Aussies call both NRL and AFL footy depending on which state/area you're in? If so, that's gotta be confusing.

On top of that you have these people too: “Can you put the football on the big screen for __” *puts it on soccer* “Oh you mean Thursday night football” We aren’t in Europe, you know what I meant -_-

This will hopefully push him academically as I am a bit worried about him being bored with how advanced his math and reading are for being 5 1/2. As you know Foos, I LOVE first day of school photos from all the kiddies. Seeing them grow before my eyes is exciting for me. My one friend put 'off ya go ya jerks' on her first day of school pics for the kids after a particularly trying summer. Hope your kids have an amazing year of growth and discovery. Caycee was a whole year younger than most of her classmates as she has a January birthday and started full day Kindergarten when she was 4. She was no math genius (comes by that honestly), but she was advanced in her reading all throughout school, so much so that the teachers let her choose what books she would read as she'd already read the 'school' assigned books years before. Only one that bested her was reading 1984 too early to understand the entire Social Studies/WWII aspect of it so that when she re-read it later after learning about it, it made much more sense.

Had a nice big party for moms 70th last weekend. Was about 60 people. Many of our Ukrainians came and spoiled her with flowers, sweets and one even painted her some pictures for our living room. We are blessed. imgur.com/a/2wqchQm

Suck on that, England. "Vicky Kicky" is the slang I remember reading from my brief but very enjoyable AFL watching phase. Solid pull, sir. Don't Aussies call both NRL and AFL footy depending on which state/area you're in? If so, that's gotta be confusing. Where I live nobody would think Footy meant anything other than AFL And rightfully so. It's the superior sport imo and actually makes sense to be called that. No disrespect to NRL or Union, Aussie Rules is just more fun to watch. Well, from my foreign perspective at least.

Worked tonight for the event job, I received the job offer in January but this was the first offical shift I actually got. Semi grand final Newcastle Knights Vs Canberra Raiders, was such an intense close game. The atmosphere was incredible and honestly getting paid to watch the footy I would enjoy anyway was a bonus.
The best part THE KNIGHTS WON!!!

Going to put this in the positivity thread with full belief the story might wind up in the other one.
Hit my 120th month for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program in August, meaning I believe that my student loan debts will be forgiven. I don’t know that my payments ever touched the principal on the loan, but being done will be a huge relief. Would’ve been nice to get my wife’s wiped out with the Biden plan, but one payment is better than two.
Cautiously happy about this milestone, waiting to hear how they figure out how to turn me down. PSLF has a terrible history of loan companies rejecting claims that you’re finished, but I’m hoping that the changes made in the last few years will leave it done and me 20k in debt lighter.

I finally have my first job in Chicago, and it's a pretty great one. I work as a front desk person for an allergy specialist, it's a 30 hour work week, and they started me at 17.50 an hour. I really can't complain.

Headed to an estate sale I just seen advertised on FB group in nearby town, boxes of VHS tapes .25 cents, I seen a few rare oddball NFL Films tapes in one of the pics, also a PS2 and a shelf full of 64 games and they are practically giving everything away. My PS2 went out last move and lord knows what gems are on that shelf. This could be good

Neo Zeed will expect a full update on what you score and prices you paid. Happy hunting! It was more of an inside garage sale in the hometown of @thekid and mikec favorite quarterback. A lot of cool stuff but I got there too late, half the 64 games appeared to be gone what was left wasn’t great or already have. They wanted 200 for the PS2 and 400 for an Atari 5200 in the box. I scored a VHS of Paulie the parrot movie with Cheech from 1998, Contra Super C for NES, and a rare tape that you would get for free back in the day when you subscribe to Sports Illustrated called NFL Extreme factory sealed all for $15. Cool stuff 🤙

I'm thinking Friday will be a steak and lobster party with fancy doughnuts for dessert?

Good!! You're due for a visit. It's been 10+ years. I still have that bottle of gin I bought for you last time! (I'll buy a fresh bottle, I swear). I won't buy lunch for everyone, but I think I'll go to a bakery and pick up cinnamon buns, cookies, and assorted pastries for a Friday afternoon pick me up.

My asshole boss that nobody liked got fired yesterday.
Not much else to report on that. One too many HR complaints and he got walked out the door after work yesterday. Everyone in our office was notified via email late last night.
Since transferring to Edmonton I have been quite happy overall with my job, except for the fact that he was my supervisor. Guy was a bully and a manipulative dick, among other things. I'm rather non-confrontational and can shrug things off, but he would go out of his way to get under your skin if he was having a bad day, which was often. Most other employees got it way worse than I did, but it wasn't like I just turned a blind eye either. Tried to convince people to call HR, contacted higher-ups and such myself, etc.
After several complaints from office staff over the years, a woman quit two weeks ago and cited him as the reason. Her exact words were "I would rather be unemployed than work for him." That was the final straw.
Today is a good day at work! Everyone is much happier with him gone, I can tell. Hopefully someone good replaces him.
