If it wasn’t more work for less pay I would apply. But I’m making Fort Mac money for at least the next few years. They’re going to have to drag me kicking and screaming from this gig.

I have been in so many places lately where the guys on the floor with their overtime are making more than their managers, totally don't blame you. Here there is also the fact that people on the floor are protected by workplace law but managers can just be let go any time.

It’s absolutely crazy to me that we have moved to a place in society where there is no incentive to advance professionally.

I've long said I have zero desire to be a manager. It's not about the money for me though because I'm quite sure my managers make 30K+ a year more than I do. To me it's just not worth it. I don't want to sit in endless (often pointless) meetings, be a corporate minion on a day to day basis and babysit a bunch of adults.
Frankly, right now we have two more managers than we need. One for sure.

I really do love my job and make good money with very little stress. I know there's a timer on my position though with all the changes that's happening in the Indigenous world with self governance and Indigenous Governing Bodies. I can't count the amount of times I've either been asked to apply to get promoted, or have been requested to leave and work for compliance body instead (I end up training workers there, which is totally backwards). But with a young family I appreciate the lack of liability and consistent hours and flexibility. My boss is 64 and could retire any day, and that would change everything because she's such an amazing boss.

Just had November's pay slip drop into my email inbox, and it is a pleasant surprise, a humongous amount of money, and some backdated pay as well.
Hot damn, December has been made easier for me now.

Isn't it cool when things just work? I have been a bit lazy mowing my lawn recently due to a combination of travelling for work, getting food poisoning (for the first time in my life!), and too much rain on days I'm at home and was pretty devastated to see a few patches of clover crop up. A quick google told me that pouring vinegar on it would kill it so I thought I'd try before heading to Bunnings for something more industrial (despite being sceptical because people recommend vinegar for everything and it often doesn't work that well) and low and behold it killed that shit straight away! My frown has turned upside down. 😊
I'll post a piccy after I mow on the weekend so you can all admire my magnificent backyard.

I want to cover my backyard in clover. No mowing and the bees and dragonflies love it.

@admin Kanye didn’t drop this weekend but the HR lawn pics better! I host the online and in-house raffles at work now. The lady that volunteers accidently printed two $40 tickets when she was trying to print 2 $10 tickets. Very unlikely someone would want 2 $40 tickets so I just thought..stuff it I’ll just spend the $80 and get to the tickets fix this as in true Aussie fashion I cbf finding someone to help me fix said error. Yes I am allowed in the raffles. I won $250 worth of prizes. Definitely a positive in a week full of many negatives.

Oh I didn't expect that to build so much anticipation, now I'm feeling a bit self conscious! 😳 Forgive my dead patches, that's where the clover was... And here's a closeup of my veggie patch. My hydrangeas have just started to flower.

That's a lovely, well maintained yard you have there @admin. 10 out of 10 would sit out and enjoy the day with a G&T there.

I'm pretty partial to my Honda, I also have a Honda versatool which I like, you can change the heads between whipper snipper, edging tool and hedge trimmer. My lawn isn't as nice as yours, our place had couch grass when we bought it.

We bought s SunJoe battery mower last summer which corresponds with our SnowJoe snow blower and no complaints from us. We bought an extra set of batteries and use them for our trimmer and blower as well. Ours is an older house with one electrical outlet in the back and one in the front. No cord is much easier and gas mowers/snow blowers are too heavy for us to maneuver.

I've also been using a battery powered mower since like 2011. Definitely the way to go.

Heading to Vegas today. What’s your favorite casino game? Mine is poker, followed by craps and video poker.

Heading to Vegas today. What’s your favorite casino game? Mine is poker, followed by craps and video poker. Sadly, I've only ever played the One Armed Bandits in Vegas. If I was going to play a table game, I'd probably play Blackjack. I've always wanted to try Baccarat or Roulette though.

No. Just money. 😎 Funny thing is when I went to Vegas, I was more obsessed with hanging out by my hotel pool. We just had our kid a year before and it was our first vacation since becoming parents. Gambling was fun as usual, but I absolutely enjoyed myself sitting pool side.

I’ve had a battery string trimmer for like five years now. I’ll never go back to gasoline. A mower is next on my agenda.

Braved the Polar Vortex yesterday as my friend treated me to a Candlelight Four String Quartet playing Taylor Swift songs a la Bridgerton. I love classical music and I love to support local artists/musicians so I really enjoyed it.
I also saw quite a few younger people which was great to see. I think these concerts are a great way to expose younger generations to classical instruments by using popular and mainstream music. Apparently, they are in over 180 cities worldwide and do music from Adele, movies, Fleetwood Mac (which I saw in June), etc.

Glad to hear it was good! We had a string quartet at our wedding with a lot of Taylor on the playlist so I have it in mind for an anniversary present...

That's wonderful iron maiden ! I also braved the -40c weather and went out last night. It was a good friend's birthday and I helped him organize an event at his newish house. SOUP GROUP!! we had about 10 different home made soups to sample from. It was grand. Nothing like eating your fill of soup when it's that cold out
