If you want some advice around confidence, I have some, I wasn't at all a confident person when I got into sales. Before you walk into the meeting, tell yourself "I don't have the job now and the worst that can happen is that I walk out without a job" Realising you cannot make your position worse is a good way to free yourself. Spend some time thinking about how you think you could help your guy and steer the conversation to that, how you can help him. Thank you for this incy, I needed it. I'm gonna give it my best shot tomorrow. Probably going to watch some videos tonight to help better prepare myself. The more knowledge I bring to the table the better I imagine. How'd it go mate?

Damn... love you too, @ness . I mean, it is called the "negativity thread" and not the "Sunshine Rainbow Gummydrop AOC Jerkfest Thread" after all. Thank you for this incy, I needed it. I'm gonna give it my best shot tomorrow. Probably going to watch some videos tonight to help better prepare myself. The more knowledge I bring to the table the better I imagine. How'd it go mate? To answer both you and iron maiden, I was going to post it on the Positivity Thread but, yes: I got the job! $15 an hour part-time apprenticeship. My commute is going to range from 30 min.-1 hr but it'll be worth it. I start some day after Saturday, just have to get the proper work attire and an oil change and I'm good to go. Thanks for asking, guys. I'm both stoked and nervous to finally get started, but mostly feeling very privileged to have this opportunity.

So I think I’ve mentioned my rheumatoid arthritis in this thread already, but honestly I don’t notice it often. An occasional limp when getting up or some joint pain but with the medication I can do just about anything I’ve ever did before the first flare...
But moving is putting it to the test. I hired movers for the heavy stuff because honestly I didn’t think I could do it. I should’ve hired movers for everything. I’ve been carrying boxes for two days and my hands are shot. They’ve swollen so badly that I had to take off my wedding ring for the first time in nearly 12 years, my knees and feet have me taking four ibuprofen every 4 hours, and worst of all I have inflammation in my eyes making it difficult to be outside.
I have it better than most, but the last few days this body is really falling apart.

I'm sorry to hear your RA is kicking your ass Mike. I hate to hear of it inflicting so much pain on someone still so young. Usually when you think of arthritis you think 'old people', but not so.
My mom has it in her hands. For years it was ok but it's getting worse as she ages. She loves to garden and landscape and two years ago I came home to her sitting at the table crying because she was frustrated because her hands were so sore and not doing what she wanted them to do. It killed her that she wasn't as able to do what she loved.

New job? ✔ New work boots? ✔ Work tools? ✔
Driving to get your oil changed only to find out you have a massive leak dripping from the pan only to strike an oncoming deer and smash the grill, front headlight and hood of your car all at once just 2 days before you're set to embark on a promising new career? Fuckin' priceless.

If you don't have insurance, these are the risks you take... And seriously... Don't smoke joints with a potential employer, unless you're a record producer or a model

Getting new sewer drain installed today and a new furnace tomorrow. Goodbye $16,500. I can relate. Had multiple instances of minor basement flooding over the summer. Got it "fixed" in early September. Today I had major basement flooding. FML.

Blimey. It costs that much? They have to jackhammer 30 feet of concrete to expose the pipe being replaced. It's the main line that goes to the sewer. The furnace is $5000 of that.

We are hoping that isn't the case for us come Spring.
I feel your pain Gyro LC. Yay for home ownership!

Guys, trust me, the second home you own generally tends to give you far fewer issues.
Granted, that's largely because of all the expensive lessons learned with the first... But still!

This is actually my 3rd home but the first we built, the second was a townhouse and then we rented for the past 11 years.
There will be no 'second' or 'other'. When they take me out of here it'll be in a box (or baggie...I don't judge) or to a nursing home.

I feel like there's so much to learn about what all we DON'T want in a house from our first owned homes that would inform and influence design build decisions.

I talked to the doctor today on the phone she say she still confuse on why is she in the hospital and can’t figure out on why the confusion but she know who she is and everyone else. The doctor dunno why she was confuse she ask me was she confuse at home and I say no. Also she say she eats a little bit but other then that she is doing good. I ask the doctor when is she coming home and she say soon because they find nothing. I ask her is it possible to give her medicine to get her eat again like they give her last year? She say she already placed that order.

Well it's a step in the right direction. Glad to hear it sounds like she'll be home soon. How young is she? (Life lesson: never ask a woman how old she is. Always ask them how young they are even if they went to school with Jesus.)

Murder should be allowed if the victims are your in-laws... Right? A case could be made for justifiable homicide. I can't say anything. I loved my ex in-laws. I liked them more than him.

Murder should be allowed if the victims are your in-laws... Right? A case could be made for justifiable homicide. I can't say anything. I loved my ex in-laws. I liked them more than him.
What's going on?
So Wife's dad... Lives in Colorado with his child bride (second marriage, same age as Wife). Calls to boast to Wife about all the travel he's doing for work (and possibly pleasure?) including Florida, which I presume is a mess for corona. Then boasts how he's getting the vaccine soon —since he's rich and connected— so corona will be a non-issue for him. This is maybe a week or two ago? Then this Monday texts Wife that he's back in Pittsburgh along with his cold bride (he still has a condo here) and will be through Christmas, wants to have us over Christmas day, and can't wait to see son. Except... Since we had no idea he was coming in (pretty sure he only came in because child bride's mom is here and dying of stage four colon cancer) we'd made other plans. Those plans are seeing Wife's mom Christmas Eve, then doing our own isolated nothing on Christmas day. We were OK seeing Wife's mom because we all had runway to plan. Her husband (father-in-law's sworn mortal enemy) and his kids all quarantined the 10 days and got negative test results. Plus, Wife's mom is also our daycare option for January, so we have to accept whatever limited amount of risk she represents. So when Wife tries to break the news to her dad that we won't be jumping at a whim to come see him, that it's covid... Nothing personal, etc. He throws it back a "fuck you, you'll see your mom but not me!?!?" without hearing anything else. He's a narcissist who is BFFs with Trump though. So regardless of anything, the world just might be better off without him.
