You're missing my number 1 and also my guess for number 1. If this film misses the list this is top 10 blasphemy. Hopefully you are referring to The Usual Suspects, which I had somewhere around #15 on my list, and not PW's favorite fictional movie, the so-called "Leon: The Professional." @ness you're good at spotting a fraud. Go to work on debunking this fictitious Leon nonsense. Nope, another Steven Spielberg joint, well sort of.

Empire Strikes Back was my 10 great movie and a great part of my childhood. If only I would have kept my Star Wars toys in the box they came in I could probably retire now, but nooooo. I had to play with them, outside, in the bath tube, and blow them up with fire work. Good times.
Jurassic Park did not make my list but should have.

The Empire Strikes Back (143) and Jurassic Park (161) are not only two great films, but massive parts of a lot of our childhoods. No surprise to see either so high. With JP, I am with Shootist in thinking the human characters really help the film. I don't think anyone would argue that any of them should be on some greatest characters list, but they are memorable and Alan Grant has a nice arc. The SHOOOOOOT HEEEER guy. Nedry's DODGSON and uh-uh-uh. Samuel L's GODDAMMIT. Goldblum playing Goldblum. John Hammond being wonderfully deluded - you know he spared no expense. The dinosaurs are the stars of the show, but you can't overplay them, and if the human characters are completely dull and uninteresting, then the film as a whole really suffers. There were always going to be sequels, because $$$, but I don't need any more than the first. I don't need to know that Grant and Sattler separated and never ended up having kids, just throwing away his arc. I wish they did a prequel or some sort of spin off with Muldoon. He seems like a character right out of a story like The Most Dangerous Game or something. A film about dinosaur hunters = $$$$. Yeah all three LOTR showed up. I was gonna give you a heads up and let you change it and then got distracted by something shiny. Now that I recall further, I actually did a search and nothing came up for Fellowship Of The Ring. It didn't even crack the top 200? Didn't even think about Jurassic Park when I played UT's guessing game. Must have just assumed it was somewhere down in the 100s or off the list entirely. Had no idea it was so popular on PW and never, ever would have bet on it finishing in the top 10. Anyway, JP is another one I saw around the time it came out that I never revisited. It was alright...I guess. Who knows? It was 27 years ago. I was already over dinosaurs by then. All I really have to add is my wrestling and Ghostbusters fan cousin was a Jurassic Park mark who had an awesome shirt of a T-Rex playing lacrosse with the words "Jurass Is Grass." Pretty sure the T-Rex was also wearing sunglasses. GOAT shirt contender. ============= Guessing Game 2.0Forrest Gump Pulp Fiction Toy Story The Lion King The Dark Knight Dark Knight Rises Goodfellas? You're missing my number 1 and also my guess for number 1. If this film misses the list this is top 10 blasphemy. It was #158.

Jurassic Park is no. 89 on my list. So while it’s not my favourite, it definitely made cultural impact with making dinosaurs pretty popular again. The first one is definitely the standout when it comes to the first 3 original films, but it has been a long time since I watched them.
I just bought the board game and I really enjoyed playing that

Fun fact: Back to the Future was the only movie to receive multiple first place votes.
I love the movie now , and is one of the few I consider near to perfect as you can get. It is imminently rewatchable from beginning to end or as a lazy afternoon movie to pick up at any point. The script is a blast , the comedy works , the performances from EVERYONE are memorable and make an impact and the special effects were amazing at the time and still hold up. It's one of the movies I really don't have a negative thing to say about , even if it was only barely in my Top 20 - I respect the hell out of it and everything it meant to pop culture at the time and even to this day.

Well that was a huge omission on my part. Back to the Future deserves it's placing and I would most definitely have it on my Top 100 although I'm not quite sure where I would place it. I've watched it more than a handful of times. It's one you can revisit and fun for the whole family. A timeless classic.

How narcissistic can you get, everyone must love Back To The Future!
1. Back To The Future (1985) My guess: 1 2. Jaws (1975) 5. Ghostbusters (1984) 6. Die Hard (1988) 7. Jurassic Park (1993) 8. The Shining (1980) 9. Rear Window (1954) 11. Apocalypse Now: Redux (2001) 12. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) 15. Groundhog Day (1993) 16. Home Alone (1990) 17. Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987) 19. The Breakfast Club (1985) 21. Clerks (1994) 22. Dumb & Dumber (1994) 23. Alien (1979) 24. Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1981) 25. A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) 26. Rocky (1976) 29. Rocky IV (1985) 30. Aliens (1986) 33. Raging Bull (1980) 34. Taxi Driver (1976) 35. Happy Gilmore (1996) 38. Fargo (1996) 39. Se7en (1995) 40. Back To The Future Part II (1989) 42. Terminator (1984) 43. Predator (1987) 45. Die Hard: With A Vengeance (1995) 46. Braveheart (1995) 47. Boogie Nights (1997) 48. The Silence Of The Lambs (1991) 52. Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991) 54. Speed (1994) 56. Full Metal Jacket (1987) 59. Psycho (1960) 66. American Psycho (2000) 67. Falling Down (1993) 71. Reservoir Dogs (1992) 75. Kill Bill Vol.1 (2003) 76. Avengers: Infinity War (2018) 78. Avengers: Endgame (2019) 79. Logan (2017) 81. Batman Begins (2005) 83. Scarface (1983) 86. Halloween (1978) 87. Apollo 13 (1995) 94. One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest (1975) 99. E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial (1982) 100. Vertigo (1958)
This movie has it all, comedy, a great sci fi concept, drama, it's perfect. I think I've told the story before but this was the gateway into the fairly new world of movie rentals for me when it was a new release. This was back when VCR's were also for rent which we had to do since we didn't have one. That just goes to show how big of a deal this film was when it was released. It got my dad cursing trying to figure out how to hook up new technology to the TV but we had to see it (we lived in the sticks far away from theaters.) Since then I spent nearly 8 hours in a theater watching the entire trilogy on October 21, 2015, the same day Doc and Marty went to the future in part II and always plant my ass down when it's on TV. It also has a tremendous soundtrack, you couldn't escape Huey Lewis that summer. Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd had great chemistry and combined with that script magic happened.

I wouldn't rank it this high (and certainly not over the likes of Empire Strikes Back and Shawshank) but Back to the Future was a definite omission from my list. I probably would have had it in the top 40 range.

There was a long stretch where I thought BttF was going to place first , probably the first 10-12 lists it had quite a lead before more lists came in and omitted it.
I would have been okay with it placing first too. It ended up falling quite a bit.

Is that 3 people that would have but forgot to vote for it? One in top 10, one in top 40 maybe and another further down the list. How much could that have affected its ranking?

Even VERY conservatively adding 150 points to it would have placed it barely in the #2 spot. How does one forget Back to the Future?!

How does one forget Back to the Future?! :$ Never even crossed my mind during the guessing game. Not even after Shootist's hint. Probably because I haven't seen it since the last century. It's another movie I vaguely remember liking as a kid. Don't remember much other than Biff being a quality heel and Doc Brown's act wearing thin after a while.
