I’m bugging out guys. Lol The Notebook. It's happening. There were too many travesties to name that Notebook completely missing the list still doesn't cut the top 3 shams. 1- Departed is WAY TOO LOW! 2- Wizard of Oz is WAY TOO LOW! 3- That overrated John Goodman film is WAY TOO HIGH! I'm going to be really pissed off, honestly, if Goodfellas and Lion King don't get into the Top 5. I'm watching this 6th movie with eyes wide open and fingers ready to SNAP, CRACKLE & POP.

Ahhhhhhhhh Zabenya!!!!!!!!!
The Lion King is the GOAT traditional animated movie and as great as Disney's catalogue is , I'm not even sure another one comes that close to it.
It's one of the most beautiful and stunning movies animated or not IMO. From the opening shot to the closing everything it just magical to watch and a great world to live in for 90 or so minutes. That opening scene though especially , can still almost give a guy goosebumps on the right day.
The characters are all spectacular. Mufasa is such a regal king and JEJ brings such prominence to his voice that you buy into him instantly as the ruler of the pride lands. Simba goes through such a tremendous arc as the movie centers around him and his comeuppance at the end is the best babyface comeback ever. Timon and Pumbaa are A+ sidekicks and bring the comedy to what otherwise would be an incredibly dark movie. Scar , a villain that matches Mufasa's regality with his own brand of sadistic and coldness voiced beautifully by Irons. Also has great sidekicks with the Hyena's who are entertaining and can turn the switch to frightening when the time comes. None of that even touches on great smaller characters like Rafiki , Zazu or Nala and Sarabi. None carry the movie but they all make important impacts in their scenes.
And last but not least is the soundtrack , the thing that really pushes this over the top to being the GOAT in my opinion as it is one of the best soundtracks ever. Can You Feel the Love tonight and Circle of Life are both great , Hakuna Matata is a great catchy anthem that will live on for eternity and my personal favorite Just Can't Wait to Be King is such a high energy great sing a long song whether it's on the radio or you are watching the fun number on the movie. Be Prepared is up there with best villain anthems too. Just banger after banger on this soundtrack.
So yeah it's a movie that made my Top 10 easily , a movie that I've watched probably 100 times over the past 27 years or so and one I can see watching 100 more before I die. It doesn't age or get old for me in the slightest and I consider it another pretty flawless movie.

Greatest Disney movie ever. I include Pixar and MCU in that statement. I don't think it's that controversial of a statement , considering it's placement. It's really close for me between this and the one from Pixar yet to come. I love them both so much and don't like the idea of pitting them against each other so I always just give Lion King the Disney crown and put Toy Story in a different bracket.

Primary strike against Lion King is animal tits are not quite as good as human tits. I do appreciate the wall-to-wall nudity throughout though.

Lion King is one of my Top 5 Disney films. I find I don't love it as much as I used to though. Unsure why that is as I used to watch it more than my daughter did.
It is an amazing film from top to bottom. Great music. Entertaining. Definitely deserving of it's placement. Universally beloved. It wasn't on my list and I'm trying to decide if it was a glaring omission or if I am comfortable with that.

I COULD/SHOULD BE MAD BUTTTTTT....
.... I had Lion King at 6, too, but realistically, it should have been a top 5 on MY list and THIS list.
The greatest Disney movie ever and honestly; the greatest animated movie ever.
Simba would bite Woodys fucking head off.

My original guess was that Lion King would place at 9, anywhere in the top 10 is a good placement for it. I didn't place it on my list since the Disney renaissance were pretty much 1 and done for me, fine films but they don't define my taste in movies.

I also want to add that The Lion King is my sons FAVORITE MOVIE in the world and we've watched it at least 50 times in the last year. Yes, that number is not exaggerated. We also do this cute father/son thing in the beginning where he dances and then runs to me and I lift him up into the air like Rafiki does baby Simba. He loves it and anyone and everyone around must clap and/or bow for him when he does it.
Now he loves Lion Guard, too.
So Lion King should have been my #1 because I should be a better father!

Rewatched this a few years ago with my daughter. Was caught off guard by just how much I didn’t like it, and wooh boy did my daughter not like it (though she was in on the remake so you can’t judge on her tastes)
Old Disney animation did not make my list.

I'm actually taken back by this. Shocking. Lion King was the highest Disney movie on my list (though I only voted for a couple..and obviously not counting Star Wars or Pixar or Marvel or whatever else..). Had it at #17. Not just my favourite Disney movie but a great movie all around.

Still don't get why the meats are bowing to each new lion cub. Circle of life. They become the grass for their children to eat and continue the cycle and maintain the balance of the Pridelands. The land, the ecosystem and the balance takes precedence over all.
