I wonder how many steps it takes to connect Okada to the Samoan Family. I'm guessing less than 12.

That shirt existed way before The Rock started calling himself that. Joe was calling himself the final boss when he was TV champ.

It doesn't matter who said it first, what matters is who said it to more people. I mean Dragon was going by BITW before Punk. Then again Punk also stole the GTS like Perfect Cell making the move more his than the original's.

Punk ruined the GTS. The press slam knee to face was the best version of it.

They're clearly setting up a Final Boss Triple Threat at Mania. The Rock vs Samoa Joe vs Kazuchika Okada. Amateur. We all know that Meiko Satomura is the ultimate Final Boss.

NATH45 posted that shirt like Joe was copying The Rock and implied as much. But that isn’t what happened.

What's a little bit of a lol. AEW released this t-shirt in January, and no one noticed. The Rock uses the catchphrase for a month and still no one notices, including AEW, then eventually some one noticed and the entire world assumes Joe stole it from Rock.

Again, Joe was the final boss of RoH in 2003. The nickname has been around for decades.

Joe was a no name indy wrestler in 2003 wrestling in a front of ROH's then 40 people strong crowd. Hardly, a final boss.
Can you post an actual reference to " the final boss " moniker from 2003?

Was a nickname we used on the old boards, you want to find it you can search. BoJ I believed was the one who liked to use the term. Also would have been on the board they made for Joe back in the day.

I am not gonna argue with you either you do look into it or not, personally I do not care that much. RT already showed you he been using the name before the Rock did.

Until recently, there doesn't seem to be any mention of the term " Final Boss " associated with Samoa Joe.
AEW might have got there first, but no one seemed to notice.

If they released the shirt first though that should the end of it right? Or should they not release material in case the Rock uses it for his next gimmick?

No one owns the copyright for it, so it's up for grabs.
Joe may have got there first, but Rock's usage of the term has been more prolific. And he embodies that character more so than Joe.
I'm sure if Joe was " I'm the final boss! " whenever he was on TV, then sure, it's off limits. But I can't recall Joe really putting the moniker over.

But I don’t think anyone is arguing that point are they? Just that you can’t really blame Joe or AEW if the Rock coincidentally used a moniker they had on a t-shirt already. Which is a fair point.

Not why it is so hard to imagine that guys who are into video games referred to themselves as final bosses at times. Joe's nickname is over 20 years old because RoH was structured a while around who would get a chance to try to dethrone the unstoppable Joe. Kenny used the term during his belt collector days. IIRC Eddie used it in Chikara when he had the belt. Sure many others have too. It is just a generic term that people and fans toss out.

We've already established Joe didn't use it 20 years ago, some guy on a forum did.
Of the 20 plus years I've been watching Joe across multiple platforms, I can't recall a single mention of the term until recently.
I mean, who has " The Final Boss " in their back pocket and goes with Samoan Submission Machine?
While, it's turned into a weird conversation about Joe's claim to the moniker, it does highlight how little people are paying attention to the show. Joe has been using the term for over 2 months, and no one seemed to notice. The Rock used it for over a month and still no one made a connection until a few days ago.

Really feels like if you did not personally see something you claim no one else did. The fact you are still going on about this despite the fact Joe's shirt was released before the Rock promo is telling. You are not gonna prove that Rock said it first no matter how much you try to act like Joe clearly never used this before.

Feels like a Mystico (Hunico/Sin Cara) situation. Homeboy was all like I was the original Mystico and the rest of the planet was like nobody cares bruh. What's the actual issue? Everyone steals in wrestling.

Yeah I covered as much in my reply to Ness. I don’t know why nath and c are still talking about it. Then again they do this all the time so whatever.
