Eli has been benched. And Geno Smith will be starting against the Raiders.

What a class act. I'm not going to lie, I got pretty emotional when I heard the news even though it was clear the end was coming. It hasn't always been pretty, it's often been incredibly frustrating, but Eli's given me some of my greatest sporting memories and he'll forever be part of my personal Mt Rushmore.

Aside from that, I don't like the way this has been handled at all. The idea that Eli was offered to "start" but only play the first couple of drives is embarrassing, and the notion that both Smith and Webb will get playing time this Sunday also doesn't seem like the best use of time. I don't think you can get an accurate read on either guy's potential to be a long term starter given the complete state of shambles the offence around them is in. This just reeks of McAdoo desperately hoping to squeeze another win or two to try and save his job at the expense of one of the franchise's greatest ever players. I can't wait until he gets canned.

Johnny G is going to start this Sunday against the Bears for he Niners C.J. is injures, or banged up kinda hope Niners don’t play Johnny G this season not until next season.

Okay, so this Eli news infuriates me. This season is NOT Eli's fault. How you gunna do him like that? Fuck this McAdoo clown. Geno Smith? Are you fucking kidding me? What bullshit and this is not how you handle a legend. Fuck that. Somebody should suspend McAdoo for a game.

I mean, good for the Raiders. They're getting an opportunity to win while possibly missing Cooper and definitely missing Crabtree.

I'm sad that Eli's streak will end. He's been a constant for the franchise since day 1. The team is 2-9 and I'd rather see what Davis Webb has to offer or Geno Smith gets crushed behind that trash offensive line.

Coughlin said this in his final presser: "Eli thinks he's the reason, it's not, it's us. When we lose, I lose, when we win, you guys win." I don't want to rewrite history and act like it wasn't time for TC to go when he did, but boy have we seen the difference between his character during difficult times and McAdoo's, who's talked shit about Eli instead of having his back all season and now done this. I've no respect at all for John Mara either who wasn't even present at the facility today in what is a seismic day for the organisation, and I'm sure was very involved in the decision.

I hope Eli goes to Jacksonville next season.
