He was off injured, was he sick instead?

Wow, not only did that completely come out of left field, but that is also devastating. He was just getting himself back together after what many would describe as a less than spectacular WWE run. I don't have many words for this one.

I don't recall anyone saying he was sick.

There seemed to be some speculation about what was keeping him off of television, now we know it was much more serious than we realise.

RIP to Brodie Lee. He was one of the biggest names on the independant scene and I was so excited to hear he'd been signed by the WWE and would be a member of the Wyatt Family. I thought he and Rowan formed one of the best tag team units in Pro Wrestling and their series of matches with The Shield, The Usos and the New Day remain some of the best I've seen in the WWE. I gave out about his AEW run because I thought he deserved better but when it came to the bell to bell stuff his work with Mox and Cody was on point.

I was genuinely excited to see what Brodie would do when he'd return, unfortunately that's never going to happen. With that said, he left a great body of work and there's plenty of indie matches I've got to catch up on.

Seems to be a non covid related lung issue. Absolutely tragic, I cannot fucking believe this.

His wife posted on Instagram that it was a non-COIVD related lung issue. This doesn’t feel real and it’s a numbing news. I keep reading about his character as a person and it’s making me even more sad. What a shame he finally broke free to a company that appreciated him very much. Rest in power.

I always thought he was a great ‘big man’. I didn’t catch much of his AEW run but still 41 is too young.

Meltzer tweeted a few weeks ago that Brodie Lee's absence was a "state secret" so I'm guessing when he got diagnosed with whatever it was they were keeping it a secret for him. Very few probably even knew he was sick.

Him and his kid were at the last Dynamite taping so maybe he took a sudden turn? So weird. This fucking sucks. I really liked him as a wrestler and his tweets during Leafs games.

Saw him quite a bit in Up Up Down Down with Xavier, and he seemed to be a pretty cool dude. Sucks to lose another all around great wrestler. 2020 even at its end still throwing us some jabs. RIP Jon.

Explains the absence, damn shame. Finally got used right, he was really talented and etching himself again as a premier big man. Ugh. He's got a family fucking awful to happen after Christmas RIP.

They said it was something to do with his lungs.  But it wasn't COVID related.

Sounds like Lung Cancer. Few lung things kill this fast, but cancer certainly will. Freaking awful news. I just assumed he was worried about COVID and taking time off before the holidays since AEW did not really need him on TV right now.
