Was there any response from the Rangers after Wilson came back? The top guys cannot be pushed around.
Panarin is done for the season.

I am legitimately so angry about this. It seems that making terrible decisions and delivering insufficient punishments is nothing new for the NHL, but implicitly endorsing the idea of headhunting and retribution in 2021 is just so ridiculous.
I'm glad the Rangers came out and put the league on blast - I was looking forward to the playoffs starting but this has really soured me.

Sorry I'm not a fan of calling for someone to be out of job because of a mistake. How would you like it if you lost your job because of a mistake you made and it is on twitter for the whole world to see? No human being is perfect. We all make mistakes.
Multiple things can be true at once:
1) Wilson should have received an attempt to injure plus a game misconduct against Buchnevich.
2) The Panarin injury: 1) He was the initiator against Wilson 2) Lower body injury, obviously not a head injury 3) Out for the season: The Rangers are eliminated and there are three games left including the next against the Caps.
3) Wilson should be suspended especially with his history.
4) Rangers let Wilson man handle Panarin. That is embarrassing.
The Rangers expend a lot of time and energy off the ice yet nothing was done on the ice. Protect your own players. Let's start there guys.

Zappy this idea of self-policing is so antiquated it's ridiculous. The best quote about it from players that came out recently was from Jason Spezza. He said (and I'm paraphrasing) "I loved it when coach dressed a fighter. Not because he made any of us feel safe, but because I got more ice time because he only played 5 mins per game".
Tom Wilson is a reckless player who's been towing the line for years. He would've done the same thing regardless if that idiot Lemieux was still on your team or not. Explain how Lemieux being on the bench would have prevented Wilson from doing what he did to Panarin/Buch/Strome. I don't think he fears "repercussions" considering he keeps doing things like this.

That is embarrassing. The Rangers expend a lot of time and energy off the ice yet nothing was done on the ice. Protect your own players. Let's start there guys. Panarin was trying to take this clown off his teammate for taking jabs at him while floored since the officials once again refuse to do anything about it, he was trying to injure Panarin who was helmetless by slamming his head to the ice. The Rangers should not have to have goons or thugs on the roster for the sake of. It's the responsibility of the NHL and player's safety to take that out of the game. The NHL didn't respond correctly on the matter and now a nationally televised game will potentially become a shitshow. As they say in the Code of Hammurabi, what will happen is an eye for an eye. You take out the Rangers star Russian player, the Caps will see the same happen. And guys like Ovechkin and Backstrom have every right to be angry at Wilson, they should not have to watch their backs. Same with Cooke and his antics when he put Malkin & Crosby as targets when they all played in Pittsburgh. Rangers did the right thing blasting Perros, if he can't do his job properly, the NHL should have someone else with the high paid position then. This isn't a meager mistake, he had loads of time to evaluate and assess what a penalty should be and he did not opt to do the right thing. He is paid the big bucks to make these calls and he failed here with a 5K slap on the wrist at best. The Caps if they had any merit would suspend him indef. but they are instead siding with him which is shameful. The NHL is 4th in importance in America and lost yet another sports deal(With NBC this time) because it's seen as carny. At least Myles Garrett was suspended for the remainder of the year for using his helmet as a weapon on Mason Rudolph. I would be ashamed if i was Wilson's HS or college coach or teammate knowing he's representing us on the national stage and I don't know how he sleeps at night knowing he could have killed someone on the ice. What a great father and husband he is to pose like a gorilla after that, absolute embarrassment. Just a selfish player who puts his teammates health at risk and a selfish player who continues to make the NHL look like a carnival act instead of a great sport. Amateur, kids who grow up wanting to play hockey get turned off(Or their parents do) by shit like this, he doesn't get the damage he does to the sport with this. Why would any parent toss their child onto this sport knowing there's a Tom Wilson here or there who look to injure instead of play the right way? I say the same for routine head hunters in baseball, get that shit out of the game. Especially AL pitchers who do this who don't answer by batting and put the bullseye on their teammates. That's why guys like Mark Teixiera put Vincente Padilla years ago on blast, Padilla would throw at batters but hid as a Texas Ranger from taking at bats so the Michael Young's and Mark Teixeria's had to get retaliated as a result and Padilla got called out in the clubhouse on this but didn't care.

Even if they all think what he's done crosses the line the team mentality prevails and of course they'll stand up to him. Hockey culture is the worst of this. There are so many players out there that guys hate to play against but would love them to be on their team.

Let him be his own man and stand up for his fighting. Excusing what he's doing makes them just as guilty and that they stand with him.

Not trying to be rude here, but have you ever played team sports? Legit question.
I remember the last year I played men's soccer. It was horrible. The Portuguese and and Italian teams always wanted to fight us at the end of the games. I didn't care for what my teammates did during the games but at the end of the day they were my friends and I stood up for them on the field. I quit when the season was over. Only played co-ed sports after that.

The Caps are definitely the heels in this situation, it's not like Wilson is the only guy on their Caps with a bit of an edge - Ovechkin has a few cheap hits in his past.
Tonight's game was a mess but I imagine the NHL knew they'd get plenty of eyes on a national broadcast game and that was partly why Wilson didn't get any sort of suspension. I thought the Rangers did a decent job of standing up for themselves considering they don't really have a fighter - but the whole thing felt a bit pointless.
As for the front office firings, it'll be interesting to see if we get any further clarification on what it was about. I'm not really buying the "underperformance" angle, the timing seems too coincidental for it not to be related to the team statement against Parros. A lot of Ranger fans seem more concerned about Dolan paying more attention to the team going forward rather than Gorton and Davidson getting fired, but that seems like a bit of a stretch.

Explain how Lemieux being on the bench would have prevented Wilson from doing what he did to Panarin/Buch/Strome. I don't think he fears "repercussions" considering he keeps doing things like this. Rangers need to protect their guys, have each others backs. Should the Oilers just go on with their day after McDavid is hit with a cheap shot and say let the NHL *maybe* suspend the guy? The Rangers have a ton of finesse and skill, but lack grit and toughness. Wilson clearly has issues no doubt about it. It is very upsetting that he was able to do what he did to Buchnevich and Panarin without any push back. Obviously anyone on the bench can't go on the ice or risk an automatic suspension, but there was zero push back after Wilson returned to the game. What he did to Buchnevich and Panarin without having to answer to that is unacceptable. It should not have waited until tonight. I saw Zinaejad and Fox looking on as Wilson is going after Strome. Vanecek is getting involved while Shesterkin does nothing. Spezza can say that, which is totally fine until he is hit with a cheap shot. Absolutely, I don't blame Panarin getting involved at all. It is all about having each others backs, but would like to have someone who is not one of the best players in the world have to do that. But, that is what happened, just no one had his back and challenged Wilson. To be fair, Wilson was not slamming his head into the ice. Panarin's head never hit the ice. His injury was deemed lower body. Rangers should not have goons or thugs too I agree. They definitely need some grit and toughness though. Different than a goon or thug. It is also the responsibility of the Capitals to have a real conversation with Wilson similar with the Penguins and Cooke. Not a fan of doing it on the hell hole known as twitter. This can be properly addressed at the annual GM meetings, NHLPA (who have been silent). The NHL signed with ESPN for double the previous NBC contract. That is why they are leaving NBC. Yes, hopefully parents are able to properly explain this to their kids. I'm not happy about this at all. JG and JD have done a phenomenal job. Whatever the reason the Rangers say I'm never going to believe it. They send out a patience letter. They have total confidence in JG to JD to rebuild and reconstruct the team, but now they don't? No sense at all. Blindy,

I was a little bit surprised with how quiet the crowd was. I understand the attendance rules, but still barely anything. I think everyone is in shock and disappointment with the firings though. I'm not buying the underperformance angle too. Everyone was surprised including Quinn. The Rangers are still in the playoff hunt if they are in any other division. They made all the right moves after the patience letter, the youngest team in the league, they have $13 million in dead cap this year. I don't know what else JG and JD could have done.

Tony DeAngelo this year got punked on by his teammates for his idiocy, Tom Wilson ain't above that. DeAngelo stirred the pot blaming his goalie or heckling his fellow defenseman K'Andre Miller and he saw what happened. Wilson is putting targets on his teammates back and none of them care. Guys like Chara who have been in the NHL for almost 15 years ago don't say shit. That means they stand by his actions.

Having read/listened to a bit more about the Gorton/Davidson situation it seems like the statement came from Dolan (likely because he was pissed about the league not protecting his biggest asset in Panarin) and that JG & JD might not have been on board with ruffling the feathers of the NHL boys club, and so Dolan told them to pack their bags. Even if they'd been doing a pretty good job I think it's hard to have too much of a problem with that.
I suppose time will tell if it turns out to be a good decision or not - but it probably does mean that the Rangers will be even bigger buyers during this offseason than they would have otherwise - and given factors like Chris Drury's connection with the Buffalo Sabres, probably increases the chances that Jack Eichel becomes a Ranger.
It's absolutely hilarious that Buchnevich got a one game suspension for a high stick in yesterday's game. The pettiness of the league is just outrageous.

The Rangers dumpster fire continues with Quinn. I thought he was supposed to be a better coach with kids than AV. I guess not. Too bad AV was fired for this guy what a shame AV should have never left.
The rumors of Tortorella returning to the Rangers will increase.
