Man, it been a rough few months for Team Kick.  First Tegan Nox tears her knee during the Mae Young tournament, and now the captain goes down.  Hope they both recover well.

And once they both heal up, I'd call them up together as part of the new women's tag team division.

Mia has been pretty disappointing imo, she seems to be aiming for being submission based wrestler but she throws them on without really any logic . Like tonight she put on the guilitine choke 2-3 times despite Reina being able to easily power out of it. She's not bad she's just not good as she possibly should be. Reina looked ok.

I guess the logic is that a choke would bring the bigger opponent down to her knees by cutting off her air? But I agree, not to belabour the point too much but I'm yet to be particularly impressed by anything Mia has done. She just looks slow and clunky to me.

I feel like Reina is someone I'd get sick of pretty quickly if she were to start having more matches, but her two performances so far have been pretty decent. The bar is low with people like Nia and Tamina but she's definitely the most watchable "monster" in a while.

I think they're just putting kid gloves on Mia until she starts appearing in higher profiled matches. I think the Fatal Four Way in two weeks will give her a better showcase of her talent.

Of all the qualifying matches to show on NXT TV, Mia vs. Reina was definitely a choice. I guess they want to rebuild Mia up a bit because she did lose to Bianca a few weeks ago. But I think putting her in with a more experienced hand like Candice LeRae (so that they can continue to build on her slight heel turn and frustration) would've been a better choice if they were going to have someone take the fall. Ah well, what's done is done. I honestly would've wanted to see the Lacey Evans vs. Xia Li match though. Xia was awesome during the MYC this year!

The cow bell thing was quite awful though. Hopefully Reina refines that entrance if she wants to keep it. I was worried the cow bell would just be on the ropes the whole match.

Also, very sad to hear Dakota may have torn her ACL. This is a pretty bad derailing of the momentum she's gained, though I wouldn't be shocked if they shove Mia or Xia Li in her place to be the third to Io and Kairi in the Shayna feud so that it'll be TEAM ASIA vs. TEAM MMA!

I really want to see more of Lacey Lane

Sometimes I think they take too long introducing the female indy signings they make to NXT TV.

Mia is using a different version of the Sole Food. I like this version better!

That finisher is really dumb no matter who does it or how it's done.

Not really a fan of that new finisher from Mia. The best way to hit Eat Defeat/Sole Food is to do it in quick and smooth succession to sell the speed and the stun on the opponent. That new version looks slower and clunkier than the normal one. Or maybe it's just Mia having a hard time hitting it on Jessamyn. We'll see how she does when she uses it on someone with more experience.

So Duke, Shafir, and Shirai all made their NXT debut tonight, as part of a tag team match. AND, Shirai got the last spot in the #1 Contenders Fatal Four Way.

Based on tonight, I'm gonna guess it will be Shirai facing Baszler at TakeOver.

That was a pretty good debut for Duke and Shafir. They kept it fairly simple, but they were pretty good for what they were doing. I thought Jessamyn would be a bit awkward given how tall and lanky she is and was kinda scared to see her flop around the place a la Maryse or Alicia Fox, but she has a pretty stable base. I like their duo with Marina as the character and Jessamyn as the bulk, and they worked well with Dakota and Io.

Dakota's really stepped up her game in terms of speed and strikes. They look a lot more impactful, which is good given her character development from someone who was timid and scared of Shayna to someone who is standing up to the bully now. Io is as fluid and graceful as always. And she hit a picture perfect moonsault. I'm excited to see what she will do with Bianca, Lacey, and Mia next week in the fatal fourway match!

So I finally got around to watching the latest episode of NXT, a decent enough tag team match for what it was. I would have liked to of seen more Io Shirai, then what we got in the match, maybe next time. As for both Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir, I was actually more impressed by Shafir than I was Duke though it's to early to really form an opinion on either one of them at the moment.

Next week should be good, with the fatal four way number one contenders match.

It's weird how the MR booking and nXT Booking have swapped places a little in terms of the usage of the women. On the MR roster, you get multiple segments and matches for the women on each Raw and Smackdown, with usually at least one non-title feud per show and multiple lengthy PPV matches.

With NXT if you aren't in the title picture you usually aren't being sued unless you are there to job to either the champion or challenger or the occasional random match ( there are exceptions like the Bianca-Nikki min feud). Also there's usually only one women's segment every show with an occasional short backstage promo. The tv matches are usually okay in length but not usually as long as the average Raw or SD match, and the takeover matches while not short are nowhere near as long as the longer mr women's ppv matches.

Now I know part o this is NXT being a one hour show, but I feel the booking of the women has been uninspired and makes them seem not as important as they use to be.

If she does, it won't be in Phoenix.  It'll be later in the year.  My thinking is that Shayna's gonna hold it until WrestleMania weekend, where she'll lose it.

WWE is scooping up some big talent.

Happy for her because she's a great talent but it's getting to the point where it's basically impossible to get too excited for any signings because they just have so many girls now. They already have 8 PC women plus the few NXT "rostered" girls who only get on TV once a month if they're lucky.

I thought Bianca and Shayna were both top notch on the mic this week. Really enjoyed that little segment. Shayna in particular has come on in leaps and bounds with her promo work.

The horsies still look awkward AF though - it looked like they had to edit some of Jessamyn and Marina's stuff with Bianca.

It's frustrating we only get to see like 10% of the female roster on TV frequently. I need more Kacy.

Y’all... Amber Nova and REBEL of all girls just wrestled against Io and Kairi on NXT. To her credit, she wasn’t too shabby!

They’re really trying to play up Kairi and Io as a tag team. Maybe we’ll see them on the main roster soon 🤔

I was just about to post about how fantastically random that jobber team was. I think Io will beat Shayna for the title at the Mania weekend Takeover, but I'm all for them coming up to the main roster as a tag team.

These two biishes forced to look at themselves because Nose stays OVERLOOKING for every damn Joshi or MMA basic SMH

Interesting seeing Rebel (Tanea Brooks) in a WWE (well NXT) ring, didn't think I'd ever see that.

Yep.

Shayna vs Bianca was right on par with the type of match I thought it would be - not a classic but very decent. I'd like to see Bianca work more as a babyface going forward, she did some new cool stuff in this match but it's probably pretty difficult having your first match as a full-blown face at a Takeover. I think they booked the Marina/Jessamyn interference really well without them being as involved as they were at Evolution.

The Bianca/Shayna match is my favourite womens takeovers matches since Asuka left. It made me a fan of both Shayna and Bianca. I thought the beatdown was so believeable, and made the drawn out attempts by bianca to get out of the submission so great, by the end of the match they ha me pulled in rooting for bianca. That girl has her mannerisms and character down. 

And what do you have against Aliyah and Vanessa? Oour future womens evolution all women two hour weekly show and monthly ppvs will need all sorts of characters, can't all be work rate. 

The best Shayna vs Kairi match (where Kairi won the title) was quite a bit better in my opinion, but I can totally see why this match would have made someone a fan of Bianca if they weren't already as she proved a lot. I agree with you about how great her repeated attempts to break out of the Kirifuda Clutch was performed.

I think you misunderstood my other post - I like both of them and have posted a number of times about how it's a bit sad they've never got to do anything on TV despite being signed for 3-4 years.

Please put Kairi and Io in the elimination chamber match. They are such a fun tag team to watch. I liked this tag match a lot more than last week's Kairi-Io tag. Marina and Jess still aren't great but they showed a lot more promise in this match than their previous one. Kairi is really over.

Kairi and Io are both big stars as individuals but together, they’re just way too good as performers. These last two tags warrant an immediate call up imo. They could definitely fill that last Smackdown pod at Elimination Chamber.

In my dream fantasy booking, I’d love for the Sky Pirates to form a stable with Asuka and another Japanese competitor (maybe Hiroyo Matsumoto or someone completely new) to form yet another set of Four Horsewomen!

Jessamyn and Marina weren’t too bad. Marina showed some interesting Rousey-like offense but I think Jessamyn is more well-rounded. She’s eye-catching and with development, I think she could turn out to be a great monster heel.

They've got to be in the Chamber match don't they? Imagine Io doing the moonsault off the pod.

Marina and Jessamyn couldn't ask for two better opponents to have their first TV match with - but they didn't do a bad job at all. I'm feeling a lot more confident about the potential that all the horsewomen matches that we seem to be set for this year have.
