As it sits right now, 16 of my top 50 came from "before my time." Now back to watching footage of The Golden Grahams....

Shootist in fairness I have read about all those teams. Otherwise I wouldn't have known about them at all! I've even seen some of them in action. Watched maybe my first ever Wild Samoans match (vs. Gilbert & Hennig!) the other day largely because of this project. You're selling me on including most of them. May even bump a few of 'em up above the 40s. Looking over my tentative list just now and I had the Heavenly Bodies hilariously high. But Sting & Luger are gonna be SO MAD if I take your advice. So don't come crying to me if Flexy Lexy and The Stinger pay you a visit to put you in the Torture Rack & Scorpion for knocking them off my list.

They were too sporadic and still felt like a "thrown together" team. Despite seeming harsh with this, right now teams like Demolition and The Hardys have faired extremly well with my criteria. Tully and Arn surprisingly didn't rate as high as I thought though they do have a solid ranking.

I was reviewing my list before sending it and was like "why the hell are they up there!?"

RT Heavenly Bodies will probably still make my list, but they'll be closer to #48 than #28. Number 28! That is where I had the Bodies! Good thing I took my time with this one. Shootist Right or wrong Sting & Luger have always been the definitive super team in my eyes. Won a Crockett Cup when that was a big deal. Teamed on and off for years. Had a legendary match with the Steiners. Held the WCW Tag Titles for six months when WCW had a stacked tag division in 1996. Sting & Luger are waaaay more deserving than DX, Brothers of Destruction, Two Man Power Trip, Rock & Sock, and Mega Powers, all of whom are among the most overrated teams in the WWE narrative. BoD are the only one that might crack my Top 100, and they didn't even come close to making my Top 50.

Sting and Luger are still singles guys first and foremost and were so before they teamed up so that's why they were left off. I guess the Funks were kind of similar but they teamed for over 20 years, were big wherever they went, had ooddles of kayfabe success, pretty hard to ignore. Plus they were a team right from the beginning of Terry's career and they grew from that and became world champions after the fact.

The Brothers of Destruction made my Top 10 too.
What other tag team has comprised two WWF World Heavyweight Champions, spanned two decades, and main-evented multiple WWF/WWE PPVs (a company which HATES tag teams, so an extra impressive achievement)!?

Chat me up on the Brothers of Destruction.
So tell me where I'm wrong here.
Didn't they only become an official tag team in 2001 when business was starting to tank and the characters had nothing to do? I can't really remember too many great matches, if anything their stinker against Kronik at Unforgiven 2001 seems to be their most memorable match. They stopped teaming when Taker turned heel in November of that year and would only pair up sporadically from then on. Strangely it's in the twilight of their careers when they would do reunion matches together which may have been the highlight of their careers...and that led to the stinker at Saudi.
Am I missing anything? It seemed like they peaked in 1998 when they teased the idea of teaming but never really made a fist of it until years later.

Yes. Pretty sure Kilgore already established that fact.

The Undertaker/Kane storyline is one of the best storylines in WWE history. Them teaming up was wholesome and bad ass.

At least 11 teams from my Favorites list will not be making it this time. May even be as many as 14. As of now I'm compromising when it comes to old school teams since Shootist shamed me into including a few. Right now I have 6 "before my time" teams. Once upon a time I only had 1. Still sore about having to cut Sting/Luger (and Benoit/Malenko) though. I originally intended to finish up tonight but ended up getting sidetracked with shinobimusashi returning, chiming in on UT's awesome Superstars thread, and ranting about the stupid Foo Fighters. Hopefully PW is boring tomorrow so I can finalize my list.
