TL;DR- TIL LA Knight does Slim Jim commercials nowadays. YEAH! lmao and now I just saw Ric Flair on tv hawking Viagra. Two wrestler commercials in one day. What are the odds? Maybe business really is picking up...

Watched a hockey game (Rangers vs. Red Wings in Detroit) where the stadium sound guy would occasionally hit a Ric Flair Wooooo soundbite to get the crowd fired up, whom would immediately respond back with a Wooooooo! Currently watching a basketball game (Timberwolves vs. Suns in Phoenix) where the arena sound guy is occasionally hitting a Ric Flair Wooooo soundbite to get the crowd fired up, whom immediately respond back with a Wooooooo! Watched a baseball game yesterday (sorry, forget which one) where the stadium sound guy occasionally hit a Ric Flair Wooooo soundbite to get the crowd fired up, whom immediately would respond back with a Wooooooo!
The Ric Flair Wooooo is relevant in pop culture to a degree that we just take for granted. It's bigger than ever! So present, a lot of people do it, probably not knowing who Ric Flair even is, which is actually a compliment to Ric Flair that something he did is that famous. It's become bigger than himself. It will outlive him for decades, possibly a century.
And I'm just thinking about the Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair battle of the '80s and '90s, which no offense to the Flair fans, but Hogan washed Flair in popularity. He just did. He had a bigger machine behind him, maybe he shouldn't have, but he did.
But goddamn, Ric Flair has won the war.

I had a thought about how a heel guest referee can troll the babyface and I wonder if it's ever been done before?
Not a slow count or a fast count. Not stalling or interfering. Babyface hits the finish and makes the pin. Heel referee makes the count at a normal cadence but shouting the numbers loudly and clearly. "One! Two! Four! Five! Six!" And so on...they never count the Three. It doesn't even have to be a malicious referee, a goofy character like R-Truth could pull it off.
Has this ever happened? If not, and if it happens in WWE/AEW in the next year, I'm taking full credit.

For anyone that wants to see it, on the August 12, 1997 episode of ECW Hardcore TV, there is some behind the scenes footage from the Funk/Sabu barbed wire match, of Sabu getting stitched up.

Think about it, it's 1989, people are driving to Blockbuster and renting a brand new release movie with Hulk Hogan and Zeus. Jesus what a different time.

Man! How did I miss this post. ECW merch could deserve it's own thread, it was both really awesome at times and laughably bad at times. But I see a WWE logo on the tag of that pic? I want to say I remember that but is that a newer one? And also I read they were bringing back ECW again this time with an MMA theme whatever that means, on Netflix? Was that real?

Man the Bill Alphonso stuff in ECW in 1995 was so hilarious to me. Just little things about it that kill me, the part where he stops the match because somebody got blood in their eye, the crowd is booing him and he tells "You should be happy I'm here!". Also the segment where 911 is about to chokeslam the 2 jobbers and Paul E. tells them welcome to the fucking ECW arena before he does it, the way fonzie is peeking out of the curtain watching what is coming for him haha. The whole buildup to him finally getting his chokeslam was so amazing.

Fonzie has one of my favorite line deliveries, not just in wrestling, but in anything, of all time. It was after the '95 run, I think. But ECW is hyping a NYC event, Fonzie is like, "I hate NYC!" Then he starts listing random things in NYC he hates and he's like, "Chinese food ... GIVES ME THE RUNS!" No one else who has ever lived could make that so funny.

Had an ECW dream last night, which is rare not only to have a wrestling dream, but to remember my dreams at all. Anyway, I was watching ECW in a room with my old ECW buddy, but we're not watching it on TV. It was like I was just in a room overlooking where ECW takes place. An abstract plain of ECW. It was a bunch of dudes I didn't know. New ECW dudes. It's 2024, not 1995. But I was happy to be watching. Happy ECW existed in this room. Then there was a commercial break.
The first ad was for ECW November to Remember 1988. I'm thinking, what the fuck? Then they start showing clips of "ECW November to Remember 1988" and it's just WWF Survivor Series 1988. And then I realize, I'm in some hellish post-WWE monopoly world where they're re-branding everything they own to whatever suits that particular audience. If I were watching WWE, I might see a commercial where Born to be Wired is being advertised as part of WWF SummerSlam 1997. I'm horrified. I exit the room. Into another dream that I can't remember.

This whole video is pure, but 2:16 when Jerry Lawler enters to Rocky music and rides a white horse to the ring to face Hulk Hogan in Memphis is peak pro wrestling purity. This is wrestling. This is Lawlermania...
