Then unless they're building to a Punk heel turn at Full Gear or further down the calendar, I'm confused as to why this segment happened. If that's what's happening, I'm all for it and stand corrected.

But if they're trying to milk Punk as a face for as long as they can, putting him in a program with Eddie is questionable. He's clearly the AEW crowd's boy.

I could be off base here. I didn't think it was a terrible outing from either guy but it didn't strike me as being this earth-shattering segment like some internet marks were making it out to be.

I loved the promo. It wasn't about the content of the exchange. For me, it was about the emotion & intensity of it all.

Rampage was pretty bleh tonight but Page telling the Bucks he was sorry was pretty awesome. I liked that.

Matt Hardy match was hilarious for me. We got play by play from Maxel and Wolfie on Reby's stream as they ran back and forth to update her on what Matt was doing as she was playing Pinball in the Hardy arcade.

I’m kind of annoyed by the ending if I’m being honest. Why does OC never win? Why are you essentially ending your last bid for people to buy Full Gear with heel, can barely move Matt Hardy going over one of your most beloved characters? The whole main event was a mess.

That last five minutes of Rampage was embarrassing. So many people missing shots, Statlander’s awful punches, Private Party the same, and then Matt Hardy completely air-balls an elbow drop. Just awful.

The highlight of the show was Team Taz trying to recruit Dante Martin. That was great.

I hope PAC shows up with two eye patches on Wednesday.

I really enjoyed the tag main event this week. If you’re thinking about checking out Rampage, that match is worth checking out for sure.

Watching this match, for some reason I can't help but think about various wrestling universes and how they cross over and the fun incongruity it creates.

So here in AEW, the Bucks are co-founders, EVPs and basically as high up on the roster as one can get. They are wrestling relative newcomer and to some degree 'who is this guy' Rocky Romero so it looks like a complete mismatch.

But in NJPW, in many ways where the seeds of AEW were planted, the Bucks were a tag team -- so likely midcard -- and over in that universe Romero is in the same midcard range. So Romero shouldn't have any star-struck vibes or fear of wrestling them.

This could go anywhere from "Bucks annihilate rando Cuban from Japan" to "perennial midcarder fights Bucks as an equal" and it would be equally plausible.

Wrestling, man.

Hook looked fucking great. Taz Jr all the way. Nice seeing him use the Tazmission.

I was just about to describe it as a meme - good shout. Probably more apt than an inside joke. It’s resulted in him being really over with the crowd. His debut was surprisingly good, as far as first matches go that’s right up there. The way he presented himself was fantastic. Badass entrance theme, a lot of confidence and swagger, and the way he nonchalantly left the ring cocky as hell without celebrating post match was so good. If you’ve got a spare 5 minutes I’d recommend watching, Todd. Taz on commentary was fun too, explaining the move set of his son and giving a couple of names too to moves.

I don't really understand it either if that helps. No seriously, what's the joke? That he's constantly on TV but it's taken over a year for him to wrestle? Because he's handsome? What's the deal?

Because as much as I like Team Taz, they've been presented as a jobber team on the main show. It's not like they've actively built any interest in watching Hook wrestle.

I kind of feel like it's a waste that Hook was actually good. I haven't seen the match, but what if you booked it on the A-Show, presented it in a way that mattered and quickly elevated him as a star of the company instead of throwing it onto the B show and appealing to the SC crowd.

I just watched the match and there were some really smooth transitions from Hook. Of course any discussion about the main event scene 10 years down the road is ridiculous but he's certainly bought himself more opportunities.

I just hope they don't spoil it and throw him in the deep end before he's ready. Build him up a bit, give him one big match (against Punk preferably) and take it from there. Don't just make him into another jobber for the stars.

I’m looking forward to catching up on this. If he is good I would advise don’t take ten years to push him or worry about rankings or anything like that. Don’t give him too much but feature him and build his momentum. TV title soon maybe?

I’d like to see Starks get in a program with Guevara for the TNT title. He can give up the FTW title in the process, let Hook take the belt then defend it each week slapping around talent on a variety of Dynamite, Rampage, Dark and Elevation. Just have him continue those similar, cocky beat downs as last night and build him up to be a legitimate guy who can wreck his way through people. His attitude really captures what FTW is all about too.

I don’t think Khan fancies Starks for whatever reason. To me he’s always looked the part and is solid enough in the ring. But he’s on commentary on Rampage which is really weird, not that he’s bad at it.

Reason people are hyped for Hook is he is Taz's son who has been training for months with Dustin, Lynn and Taz.

Likely he will become a Dark superstar after this, but it is clear from his debut he has a bright future.  Need some polish as he is green as all fuck, but he is otherwise solid on the mic and in the ring.

Hook was extremely impressive. He has that swagger, he's super smooth in the ring, and wonderful execution of the Tazplex.

Gotta give props to Fuego Del Sol as well. He's an incredible jobber. Every time I see him he delivers.

I’m of the belief that HOOK would have debuted a long time ago but since the internet got a hold of it and CM Punk called him out around its peak, they delayed it longer to ensure he would put on a good match.

That’s why if you scroll wreddit today many comments are along the lines of “memes aside, he’s good,” and “thank god he didn’t suck we would have looked stupid.” I’m paraphrasing but you get the idea.

They always seems to put on big attraction first as to top or be on par with Smackdown's main event since they assume fans will go from one to another. And the viewers seems to drop as it get later though that could be because main events usually open the show.

Fans would have got into him no matter how bad he was. Though I pretty sure it made everyone happy when they saw this kid has really got something. To me he felt like a custom character you would make in a UFC/boxing game. He had a unique look, hype going into the match, licensed music, but not much in on the look of his gear yet.

Didn't Lucha Bros vs FTR main event Rampage a couple of weeks ago? I don't mind it being the opener. A rematch of a rematch. Give Wheeler Yuta some shine in the main event.

Rampage has some odd match placement. Cole vs Yuta feels like a show-opening match.

Hook vs fuegpo was good. Hook was cool and all, but its gotta be said how much fuego does to make others look good

Re ftr vs lucha bros opening. I thought the vibe for both dynamite and rampage s the opener is usually a banger of a match, so its no slight to open
